This clinic had my mother in tears after returning the next day with an eye infection caused by the…read moremultiple "tests" they did on her the previous day. She went there to check the health of her eyes due to her being at risk for glaucoma and cataracts, she allowed them to perform multiple tests. Also going into that appointment her eyes had no irritation or redness. The next morning she woke up with pain and redness to her eye. When she went back they demanded she pay another copay to be seen when the redness and irritation was clearly related to how they handled her eyes during the testing the previous day. She was crying because they refused to even evaluate the issue and she did not feel it was right for them to charge her when they should have taken accountability for obviously being responsible for what happened to her eye. These people have no decency or compassion for theirs patients. Please do yourself a favor and find another optometrist.

She…read morehas formed a relationship with my family and really cares about how we're doing and what we're up to. Her practice is run out of a renovated house, which adds to the intimacy of the experience. It's usually just her and her receptionist working at any time, so everything is really personal. She knows what she's doing, but everything seems a little old fashioned and the equipment obsolete, especially compared to the doctor I see in Austin. She has fewer instruments and limits exams to only the eye chart and a flashlight. She doesn't have the new retinal imaging system, so you pretty much have to have your eyes dilated for you to get them really checked, but that's understandable since the former method has got to be crazy expensive. That brings me to the next topic: price. Dr. Oakley is much cheaper than the other doctor I mentioned. I'd say the price difference is appropriate for the services offered, and she's just a great person to get to know. The eyeglass selection is OK, but you're not going to find anything unique or cool here. She's not really in the business of selling glasses, which can be a plus if you're trying to avoid salespeople. She may not have the newest machines, or biggest selection of glasses or contacts, but she's a smart cookie and the nicest doctor around. She's definitely a good choice for an everyday optometrist, especially for families. No, but it was not explained to me that it was for refraction. Due to my blindness, I cannot be refracted conventionally. Rx was useless. Then I saw the Dr, who did not ask me any questions, just looked in my eyes and dictated observations for my chart, and dismissed me.
