Doctor was 45 minutes late and incompetent. Both experiences were miserable, weird and unprofessional. Late and unprofessional doctor/ staff, unsanitary and unmonitored Environment, not ran well generally. Thankfully there are other eye care clinics in Mobile! (I would prefer to walk around constantly squinting and running into things than go to this "clinic" again.I have had several annoying, maybe even BIZARRE experiences here. During my first checkup I had the pleasure of watching a screaming old woman- WITH ONLY ONE SHOE ON- hobbling after her child (?) with the OTHER SHOE IN HER HAND! If this somehow isn't unsanitary it is at least alarming....! After dealing with the rude, impatient ladies at the front desk, a nurse dilated my eyes and told me the doctor "would be right in." 45 minutes later, My doctor (don't remember name) casually walks in and performs what could have been an eye exam (?), only to tell me my RX is the same...I was late for my next appt. and was generally annoyed. The second time was through phone call- I just needed my lens RX and although the lady seemed nice enough, she did not answer the first call and when I called again she told me she would send it through email "immediately, before she left",one unanswered phone call and a week later I still have not received the email. Guess I will call a third time. Currently looking for another clinic. read more

I made an appointment at Vision Partners to get a prescription for contacts and glasses. My insurance only pays for one exam a year and doesn't pay for the contacts or glasses. The last page of the paperwork said that there was a $20 dollar charge which was required for contact prescriptions. It stated that most insurance companies do not pay for it, but if they do, they will repay me, implying that I must pay in advance. I told them I don't have and extra $20 to pay them. they assured me that they make everybody sign this and I shouldn't have to pay. So I signed. While the doctor's assistant was doing the preliminary work, she mentioned that there would be a charge of up to $45 for the contact lens fitting. I balked at this as well. I asked what was my insurance paying for. The assistant went to the front desk to talk. She came back and told me I would have to pay. I stated that if I was gong to be charged for every minute I sat here, I would have to leave now. So I did, without even seeing the doctor! This place is a racket. They should state up front the fees they charge. read more

First, I have to say that I was a longtime patient of Dr. Rich as a child and I would give him ten stars, so this review is not about every doctor. I also have to say that the optometrist we have been seeing is very polite and professional, and I feel like they have made attempts to give us good service. HOWEVER, there are too many issues that have happened over the last year/few months that I am seriously considering finding a new provider. First, we made an appointment with a physician thinking we were at the Providence office. They didn't bother to tell us there was another clinic and our doctor would be at that clinic on the day of our appointment. I took off from work, and juggled our other schedules only to show up and discover we had to reschedule the appointment (as did other patients). Even if we had time to get to the other office, they did not have an optical center to be able to service our needs. Next, for the rescheduled visit...we were informed we needed to be dilated. I was going to refuse because I was not concerned about the health of the eye per se', but I was told it could affect the prescription accuracy. (I have had eye issues for 40+ years and had never known that to be true, but I went along with their advice.) My son's eyes are still dilated 24 hours later. I wrote a note for his teachers to explain the situation but that doesn't excuse him from doing work or tests. I called the office and they inform me that eyes with light pigment (blue eyes) can stay dilated for 2-3 days. WHY would you not advise a parent of that BEFORE the procedure? It's the end of school and most children cannot afford to make a choice like that! So, I asked the office if they could write a doctor's note for him and they said no that he would just have to do the best he could. In my opinion, this is very irresponsible on their part. If they can see his eyesight is impaired and it is a direct result of their treatment, they should at least be willing to write an excuse. If nothing else, I hope this review will encourage parents to question their recommended treatment and be aware that their estimates are false or misleading. read more

My review is not for Vision Partners, but for their VIP Optical. I had an eye exam on July 9, 2020 and immediately went to their optical department to get my prescription filled. I selected a Flextron frame for it's durability and progressive lenses. Two weeks later I was notified that my glasses were ready. When I arrived, the clerk while fitting my glasses, broke one stem. She said to go ahead and take the glasses home and she would order another frame. I wore the glasses while I drove home and noticed both far and near, my vision was blurry. I called their store 3 days in a row asking if I needed to see the doctor again or what to do since I could not read with these glasses. Nobody ever returned my calls. I finally went back and she said they were short-handed and had over 900 calls that needed to be returned. She did finally agree to check my prescription and when she returned, the expression on her face was unusual to say the least. She did admit that the prescription was "off" At that point I asked for my $646.90 to be returned to my credit card. She begged me to give them yet another chance and I said NO. Now it has been nearly 2 weeks and still no refund. I truly hope someone reading this that can do something to help me get my money back. read more

This was a great place to go in 2016, in 2017 however things have gone down hill. The optometrist himself (Dr White) only spent 5 minutes in the room and looked in 1 eye. Went to another doctor and he found an infection that (Dr White) had overlooked due to his lack of giving me a proper examination and (Dr White) also gave me an inaccurate prescription for my contacts, so I was out that money as well. read more

This review is specifically for Dr. Trinh Vo. When I scheduled my eye exam with Vision Partners, I was assured that the doctor would take time to get my prescription right and there would be no rush. I was told that each patient receives 1.5 hours with the doctor for the exam. I was on time for my appointment, but had to wait one hour to be seen. When I was finally seen by Dr. Vo, she was rude, hurried through my exam because she was "overbooked" and got frustrated when I did not immediately accept the recommended prescription. She told me "this is unfair to me and I don't have anymore time to spend with you." Go somewhere else! Do NOT take your business here....or, at least not to Dr. Vo. She is not interested in providing even barely adequate eye exams. read more

The man who answered the phone refused to schedule an appointment unless I gave out the social security number of my two minor children. This information is not necessary to see a doctor. I do not give out their social security numbers for privacy reasons. The man on the phone stated that was the only way to verify identity for insurance purposes which is ridiculous. This was especially absurd since I offered to give the social security number for my husband who is the carrier of the insurance. This outrage office policy should be changed as some of us do have privacy concerns. I did not see this doctor due to this policy. read more

If you care about your sight do not use Vision Partners. I saw Dr. White in December about my cataracts. Explained to him if my cataracts were ready to be removed please, explain what the process was. He never told me to choose a special lens since I had Astigmatism in both eyes and cataracts. He never explained there was a possibility my Astigmatism could get worse with the cataract surgery. I told him I had twin baby granddaughters coming in April 2019 and did not want to have to wear glasses or contacts. I was very explicit on this point as, I needed to see if my daughter went into labor at 3am. There were lens he could have discussed with me .Dr Hupp did my surgery and after the first one on January 9th he told me I needed Bifocals and contacts to see. I was in tears and haven't been able to drive since. I was independent now dependent on my husband. I am now in North Carolina awaiting the birth of my granddaughters and have seen Optometrist in Fairhope and lencrafters in North Carolina 5 times in order to see. This has been devastating. This did not have to happen to me if I had seen the right eye group and the correct lens put in my eyes. Liz Johnson read more

I actually liked Dr. Vo, but I won't be back for several reasons: 1. They won't book an appointment for more than two family members on the same day. 2. They ordered the wrong contact prescription for me.... "that 40 looked like 90".. 3. The insurance billing department assured me they had filed my insurance after I paid out of pocket over $1,000 for glasses and contacts, and they would send me a check when the insurance paid. After a year of multiple inquiries where I was given various excuses "was supposed to fax instead of file electronically", etc., etc., I learned from my insurance company that the claim was never filed. The billing manager even told me it was denied, but it was on a denial with other patients so they couldn't give me a copy. I called her back and gave her specific dates and she said she would call me back... that didn't happen. Very poorly run billing department. The optical ladies were nice. read more
