I…read morewas so impressed with his rankings on Google and Yelp, but it has not proved to be my experience working with him on a condo board. He was introduced to us a month ago with one of our condo unit owners as his personal property manager. It started off OK with him asking about whether to notify the board of renting and if his client had workers here to paint. Then everything went downhill from there. Our condo board was contacted BEFORE he was hired to track down copies of keys for the lobby and mailbox after a tenant disappeared with all of the above. After I'd already done the work of meeting with the unit owner's friend to give him new keys to the building and info on a locksmith, in addition to trying to figure out where our lobby keys may have gone (a security issue!), then Henry sent me a snippy email (with a bunch of exclamation points), reminding me he was the property manager: "Hold on everyone! This is Henry [ ]'s new property manager. Let me check if we have the key. Don't send a locksmith!!!!" I backed off, although I was contacted about the keys, not the other way around. But when the same unit owner needed access to get into the unit for extermination, he couldn't get ahold of Henry and my hands were tied. The office didn't have a way to get in. I didn't know. Henry didn't answer his phone. Finally I had to email Henry so the exterminator wouldn't leave. FINALLY the exterminator got in. Now there are workers working on the unit, one of which urinated in front of our surveillance camera (and near one of my windows), in plain sight of kids walking home from school. Then other workers blocked three parking spots and one parked in my spot today. I called the towing company to have them removed. Henry was totally quiet about the urinator (no email, no exclamation points) and only pointed out "they're not my workers" after I said I was calling a towing company. This is ridiculous. Don't remind people you're the property manager when it's convenient but turn a deaf ear when there's something to manage. I'm now relieved he said he was too busy "today, tomorrow" to manage our building when I asked about his pricing early on. If this is the service we'd get, I'll pass.

She played an extremely integral role in showing us quite a few homes that fit our criteria. As the search continued, I have no idea how Christine maintained her "cool" as I feel we would have pushed most realtors over the edge with our endless pursuit of perfection. Quite on the contrary, Christine had tremendous patience and treated our real estate deal as if she was seeking her own place. Once we found a place we liked, Christine handled the negotiation process better than I ever would have imagined. Especially in today's economy, I felt like we could play hardball on the price we were willing to pay. She played right along instead of trying to convince us to settle for a higher price in order to close the deal and earn commission quicker. Since we were out of state, my husband and I would initially look at properties online, then put together a list for Christine. We would drive the 5-6 hours from Michigan and spend 1 or 2 days looking, looking, and looking. We had properties we wanted to see ALL OVER the place, Woodstock, all around the Chain O' Lakes, and as far north as Winthrop Harbor. Christine really took the time to show us as many properties as we wanted to see, and provided some good realtor insight on each - the pros, the cons, some things we as buyers may not easily realize or recognize. I think she also tries to put herself in her clients' place as she looks at each place, and tries to see it from their perspective, from where they are in their lives (single and looking for a party pad, or new parents looking for a nice neighborhood their kids can grow up in, or a quiet couple looking for a quiet home, etc.). She has a great sense of humor, makes you feel at ease, does her homework and is on the ball. Some realtors are a bit behind the times and still not using the internet to its full potential. You won't have to worry about that with Christine. If you SMS, you never have to bug her for updates or wait for an email response that could take hours or days. She will send you up-to-the-minute info. I would definitely recommend Christine Spelson of MK Real Estate Group to everyone looking for a new home.

I visited the main office for closing on Friday September 24th, there's plenty of parking and the office was very welcoming. I was promptly greeted upon entering and the office was following all COVID procedures. The closing room was available early as was I, so this was nice from a time management point. You could see the offices were cleaned throughly between each customer. An additional mitigation was the blue ink pins that you get to keep. They are company embrossed and write well. I was also provided water, snack, coffee and tea. Closing went very smoothly, with no issues. The wire to payoff the sell of my home was proceeded immediately by my lender. I am very happy over all and they were priced more competitively than other closing companies. I will use them again!

My experience with Alliance Title was miserable. Several days prior to closing I received an…read moreinvoice indicating what I would have to pay them. It was full of overcharges and junk fees, including one $150 charge for a document that verifiably comes free from the state and that's actually prepared by my lender. When I called Alliance to review the invoice and ask that certain fees be removed, I was told they "don't ordinarily spend time with clients on the phone" and that they shouldn't even be discussing the invoice with me. When I pressed the issue, I was told nothing could be resolved over the phone and that while my lawyer was free to send an e-mail I would be better served raising my concerns at the closing table. So, I raised the issue at closing only to be told that yes Alliance is willing to negotiate some of the fees but doing so could delay my closing by hours or even days. Since my mortgage lock expired the day of closing, the message was essentially that I had to to suck it up and pay their unnecessary, usurious fees or risk blowing up the transaction (meaning, lose my escrow money). Yes the deal went through, but if you want to avoid overpaying then I suggest you look elsewhere.
