Had my first acupuncture consultation and treatment with Dr. Virginia Priors, she was perfect. Asked a lot of questions of me, listened attentively to my needs and also allowed me to ask questions. Dr Priors was friendly and professional. She has an excellent demeanor and is very knowledgeable not only about acupuncture and herbs, but also about the body in general as it pertains to natural remedies and lifestyle modification for health. I loved her references to modern studies and her blunt commentary on these studies as well as clarification on conflicting information. Very much appreciated by a person like me who is curious and likes to take my care into my own hands. The office a legitimate doctors office with multiple practices on site. Their suite is cute, decorated for Christmas and has photos of clients and their families. She treated me for two things, hormonal balance for fertility and a stiff neck. The stiff neck was drastically improved the day after treatment. It will take longer to measure results on the hormonal treatments. Cost for standard acupuncture is $150 for first treatment and $89 for subsequent treatments. For fertility it's $225 1st visit and $89 subsequent visits. They ask you to pay upfront, but offer a Superbill, which is a request to your medical insurance provider to reimburse you. Out of pocket cost for the first visit, depending on insurance, could be as low as $25-$75. Subsequent visits should be $15-$25, also depending on insurance. Highly recommend Dr. Priors. read more

After so many cortisone shots and massages, I needed answers. I couldn't walk and had to wear a boot for a while. I suffer from ankle issues ranging from posterior tibial tendinitis and unconfirmed ankle gout. Virginia is one of the best acupuncturists that I have ever been to. She is thoughtful with her approach and very personable, can say that we are friends! She explains each acupuncture needle and her method. Typically after two sessions my pain is gone, along with my swelling. At times, I wouldn't need to see her again for 8 months! I highly recommend her! I've had nothing but positive experiences with Dr. Prior at Hermosa Acupuncture. I started seeing Dr. Prior some time ago for chronic headache issues, and was immediately surprised by the amount of time and attention she gave me as a new patient (something uncommon in any medical or medical adjacent field these days). She always approached every session with empathy, exhibiting prowess in modern medical knowledge. In fact, Dr. Prior was the first person to potentially diagnose my underlying issues (before my regular doctor), which shows just how much she knows. During the time I went to Dr. Prior, she was always very conscientious when it came to providing herbal remedies, ensuring nothing was given while I was on particular medications or trying to deduce what might help in the long run. This approach should make anyone feel more comfortable, as it was clear from the start that Dr. Prior was not one of those doctors who simply wants to prescribe meds, slap a band-aid on an issue, and get paid for it. She puts her patients' wellness first. Lastly, she is flexible with scheduling and understanding when things come up. The only reason I am no longer going to Dr. Prior for acupuncture services is for insurance reasons, and when those arose she was kind enough to suggest someone she knows is good and can help me. I had been trying to conceive for 2 years. During the 2 years we went through one miscarriage. I knew that being a little older might be a reason why it was so hard to get pregnant. I heard that acupuncture might help so with the recommendation from a good friend, I went to see Virginia. At our first appointment, Virginia took the time out to get to know me and talk about my situation. She was very knowledgeable about the many reasons why getting pregnant could be hard and provided me with recommendations on changing my diet and removing toxins from my body to help cleanse my body and help my ovaries produce healthier eggs. She also recommended herbal pills for me and my husband and told me to have my husband start with a cleaner diet and to stop drinking alcohol and diet soda so that he can be more healthy as well. I started my sessions in July 2016 and went every other week. She told me upfront that the process didn't work over night and it would take my body a few months to start producing healthier eggs. During my sessions, Virginia was very calm and soothing and made me feel comfortable so I forgot how scared I was to get all these needles put into me. She was very gentle and caring during the treatments and it made it so much easier for me. I finally got pregnant in February 2017 and am expecting my baby girl on 10/24/2017. I started getting acupuncture for pain (gout) and also for tennis elbow and low back pain. Within 24 hours my pain went from a 9/10 to a 1/10. As I kept up with the acupuncture I noticed it got even better. I rarely get low back or elbow pain anymore. If my gout does act up, get acupuncture from Virginia and it takes it away. I recommend getting it regularly to get pain issues to turn around. I also noticed that my sinuses, which had been stuffed up for about a year, cleared up after a couple treatments, so that was a nice. Kill two birds (or in my case four) with one stone. I first went to see Virginia for some back pain that had been plaguing me for years. After about two sessions, I noticed a huge change. After a run of six sessions I was better, and haven't felt the issue since! Since then she has treated multiple issues and it blows my mind to think that each one of them has been alleviated. I saw Dr. Prior at her office in Hermosa a couple months ago to help me with back pain. I was with my brother in Manhattan Beach and went surfing and my back seized up a few hours later. Sitting for hours in the ER didn't sound like fun, so a friend suggested I try acupuncture instead. So glad I did! Dr. Prior was really laid back and cool, but what impressed me was her thoroughness. She explained the different points she would use and how they would reduce the inflammation. I still don't understand how acupuncture works, but it helped right away. After an hour I was walking normal, and for half of what my ER copay would have been. She also asked about my general health and took my pulse and looked at my tongue. Apparently I also had a mild liver chi imbalance. I figured she'd give me a (admittedly well deserved) lecture to lay off the Scotch and IPAs, but instead Dr. Prior gave me some really useful tips on common herbs and stuff I can add to my breakfast smoothies. Tumeric it seems is a natural anti-inflammatory and the black sesame seed powder gives me energy. I've been using both since and feel loads better overall. Haven't quite figured out the perfect recipes taste-wise, but the health advice was spot on. Overall, I would definitely recommend Dr. Prior. She was super nice, attentive to detail, and -- most importantly -- effective at resolving my semi-debilitating back issue. read more

Virginia Prior is an unbelievably skilled acupuncturist compared to the large number of others I have been to across many years. She is very knowledgeable and helpful with all aspects of improving health alongside this therapy. In my case I have serious symptoms after colorectal cancer surgery. Her treatments worked fast and dealt with the symptoms of LARS (lower anterior resection syndrome) very well. (The symptoms range from constant diarrhea difficulties to sexual problems.) Additionally, she recommended a chinese herbal formula that really seems to continue to help. It has been fantastic to see that kind of improvement after a hard 18 months. She is also more deft with the actual needling than anyone else I have seen. Can't much tell they are going in or going out. I have been dealing with a chronic back sprain for most of my adult life. I first started seeing Virginia four years ago. I was having many strange symptoms. I went to 2 doctors and they found nothing. One doctor even suggested that it was in my head!. That made me even more depressed and frustrated, ironically. I didn't know what to do. A friend of mine recommended Virginia to deal with the depression. After six sessions, not only my depression was greatly alleviated, she managed to discover what was going on. She suspected Lupus, and suggested I discuss this possibility with my doctor.
