Over the last year, Bethany has worked with us to utterly transform a 6 bedroom home in Mission Viejo into a beautiful place devoted entirely to caring for people during the final stages of life. We call this place, the Heavenly Home Project. Our goal was to create a warm atmosphere, where people of all ages would feel comfortable, letting go of their anxiety and pain in order to live each moment fully. Bethany certainly accomplished that, thoughtfully leading the entire design process from beginning to end. Starting with a kitchen remodel, Bethany created a chic two-tone blue and white kitchen with a gorgeous quartz waterfall countertop that acts as a true statement piece. With Baldwin satin gold hardware, a black and white marble backsplash, and matte black appliances, the space is both spunky and sophisticated creating a space that draws people in, serving as the center of the home. The black floor tile was carefully considered, laid in a honeycomb pattern with silver grout, which not only looks great, but also adds a layer of patient safety. Interestingly enough, the black tile will actually deter patients with dementia from entering the kitchen because they see it as a black hole. Each room in the home has a blue accent wall, which gives a soothing feeling of serenity and calm, along with private access to outside. ADA bathrooms are adorned with classic black and white tile, a neutral wall color, matte black grab bars, and gold fixtures. In addition, Bethany created incredible outdoor living spaces that act as a continuation of the home. French doors from the two front bedrooms open up to an enclosed circular patio. The exterior colors of the home mirror the interior colors, and a cement water feature is flanked by tall grasses and outdoor lighting fixtures, giving the space a mid-century modern feel. As you move around the house to the backyard, you are greeted by an enchanted rose garden with a cherub fountain at the center, which is adorned with cast iron doves. Your eye is then immediately drawn to the focal point of the yard, a large wooden gazebo set on a beautifully laid Treks deck winged by flowering hedges. A playhouse that Bethany designed to mimic the Heavenly Home, sits on grass area, inviting people of all ages to visit their loved one. Undeniably, Bethany is a designer that we would highly recommend. Her strategic pops of color inject personality and interest. A perfect mix of the old with the new, blending both traditional and contemporary styles, there is no doubt that anyone who works with Bethany will be wowed!
