The cashier with the red hair declined my service because I look too young despite showing my ID and lied saying we used different cards

I think the location is the only reason people use it because it's convenient. Other than that, that's pretty much it, because it's small and they don't have much. They're also pretty annoying other than a few nice employees. I always use the same ID for my alc every time I go to an ABC store and even here when I have to. They always accept it, and I don't have a problem because anyone knows when they void a driver's license, it's voided for driving reasons ONLY. It's still a valid identification form. They only wanted to enforce it today because the manager was there, and it's pretty funny because it's a first out of the 20 times I've been there. They even asked my boyfriend's ID when they're only supposed to ID the person buying the alcohol and anyone else bringing anything up to the counter. A manager should know better. Maybe they need a better one. They don't have as much in stock anyways and always run out of everything compared to the one on 4991 Nine Mile Road. Go there, that's the better one!!

The new owners (of this once-legendary NPR-famed purveyor of exciting and diverse global delicacies, where one used to be able to write whatever they wanted from all over the world on a whiteboard and have it ordered imminently, and where any kind of delightful non-alcoholic beverage nestled among the eclectic selection, as well as local and organic fare) have taken a true golden goose of a rare gem and for whatever reason slaughtered her and replaced her with the same kind of dog feces convenience outlet that sits on every corner of the city. Yes, where the labyrinthine snaking crowded endless aisles of NG once displayed the glory of the globe and local goods alike for a fair price in innumerable delicious and holistic forms unfound for purchase anywhere else in the city, now we have a paltry fraction of the aisles left in a near-empty redundant hole of drug paraphernalia, crappy booze, and mass produced American snack products. The unbelievable lack of foresight underscoring the new owners punching a gift horse in the mouth by replacing a famous-for-good-reason slice of multicultural perfection that was sorely needed and wanted, and beyond popular, with absolute BS one can get literally anywhere else not worth the "novelty" of 24-hour crapola, was well summed up by the new clerk shilling it as I wandered stunned in my miserable foray of this corpse of my favorite store today: "Kombucha? Never heard of it" said he. It was in every flavor and wholesome brand and size but you got rid of it. "Local scents? Not anymore." Pity. Seeing a lonely paneer leftover from the golden days, I brought it to the register. "Ew, what is this cheese? From India you say? I prefer American cheese. American cheese is the best" said he. Ah, makes perfect sense, I thought -- that tracks, with you turning a beautiful joy into garbage, that you would prefer plastic American cheese to traditional paneer. It's what the place is now -- pitiful trash, like plastic cheese. STEER CLEAR, AND HOPE FOR ABANDONMENT, AND PRAY FOR THE REBIRTH OF A NEW TRUE GOURMET SOMEDAY.

They are located in the Church Hill area of Richmond, Va. They also offer some cheese, canned fish and meats. The staff was doing a tasting with a vendor when I arrived and they did acknowledge me when I entered. Towards the end, one person stepped away to see if I was ok which I appreciated and she was very friendly. I mentioned that I had been across the street at the Cobra Burger but hadn't noticed them and she advised if you purchase a bottle from them, you can take in the restaurant to drink and they will open for you and waive the corkage fee. I believe they offer tastings but not 100% sure.

Second Bottle takes away all these concerning things and makes it approachable and fun. As is true to wine, each bottle has a story. You have a chance to speed date your bottle by reading the beautiful detailed description around its neck made by the owner. Every bottle in the shop has a mini dive into what to expect from the wine. I think the way the wines are organized here are phenomenal. Marie Kondo would applaud the organization of this wine shop! Each wine is on a shelf labeled with which country or region it's from. There is also a variety of snacks to pick from (fresh baguettes included). Erin, the owner, is what makes this 5 star place deserving of 100 more stars. Her passion for wine and the winemakers is so inspiring. It's owners like her that make wine so special. I'm grateful Church Hill has a gem like Second Bottle. Be sure to try their free tastings on Thursday 5-7pm. Also there is no corkage fee if you want to have a bottle of wine with your burger at Cobra Burger next door. They also do a film and wine series with LC Cinema that I'm obsessed with. Could not recommend this place enough.
