We had a bit of time to browse the store before the tour started. The tour was about an hour and included a free tasting. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and led us through the history of Virginia's oldest distillery. He was a bit hard to understand and talked VERY fast, which made it tough to absorb much of the info. However, for a free activity I enjoyed it. The best part of course was the tasting at the end. We were led through how to taste the spirits and given water and crackers as palate cleansers. We tried one of their gins, two bourbons, and the caramel bourbon cream liqueur. The bourbon cream was delicious and so smooth! I really liked the gin as well. We all ended up buying at least one bottle, so I'd say it was a success.

He took the time to explain everything in detail, which gave a great appreciation for how much goes into making their bourbon. After the tour, we had the opportunity to taste several of their bourbons, which was definitely a highlight. Each one had its own unique flavor profile, and it was a fun and engaging experience to compare them. Overall, a great stop if you enjoy bourbon and want to learn more about the craft. Just be prepared for a slightly longer tour, but it is worth it for the knowledge and tasting experience.

The best drink in the tasting was their 8 yoa bourbon, very smooth and a little sweet, great for sipping or mixing. The vodka also tasted good in drinks. This was one of the best distillery I have tried. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable. The building is absolutely beautiful inside and if it's nice outside, the scenery behind the distillery is amazing with a creek running right past the back porch. The do offer charcuterie and other snacks to eat here when there are no food trucks. You are also allowed to bring your own food, which is what we did.. I can't wait to go here again when I come back next year.

Six of us, three couples from Maryland, had traveled down to spend two days in the Sperryville (Skyline Drive) area, to relax and enjoy each-other's company; we planned to spend a couple hours at The Copper Fox Distillery. It was a beautiful day as we walked in the building, a very dark, dank, empty place. Looking around, we looked out the open back door and saw people sitting outside at tables. In front of a brook, there were perhaps twelve tables, about half of them occupied, and there was an empty four-top in the middle, but no servers around. We moved two chairs (from the far-left of the area) to the table and prepared to sit. A server came out of the building, walked right up to us, grabbed one of the chairs, and said in a very loud voice "why do you think you are entitled to move my chairs around!", taking the chair back to the table it came from, and grabbing the other chair. I said, "look, we came a long way to your place to enjoy ourselves, why can't we sit here"? She said "there is not enough room on that table for your drinks" and I said "no problem, we can deal with it". "No, you can't sit here" she said, "sit there", pointing to a six top way over to the right, out of the sunshine, not really within view of the brook, and went inside. Two of my party said "let's just leave", a couple at the next table was shaking their heads, and I followed her inside. A discussion ensued, where I asked her why we were having such a problem; we came a long way to enjoy her place... and she began raising her voice, yelling at me how she knew what good hospitality was about (???) and much more. I said something I regret. I went outside to retrieve my group and leave, and their first words were "why in the world was she screaming at you"? None of us had ever been treated like this (from the very first moment we arrived) and we were extremely disappointed. Apparently, the customer is not always right, and we were left not understanding how such behavior could be tolerated from an employee, or how such a thing could happen.

Once on the compound, it was difficult to miss; large glass doors and walls with the humongous crest on the front of the building. We decided to do a walk in tasting and were lucky enough to have Jonathon be our guide to all the outstanding spirits made at the distillery. Jonathon was extremely knowledgeable about the distillery's history, products, and merch. Jonathon's passion for the distillery was continually on display, and he kept the spirits light with his unique brand of humor. Be mindful that the tasting room was packed, so I also recommend making a reservation to ensure you can enjoy the experience. The options for the tasting were the clear or amber flight options. The clear choices being some of the steeped fruit and tea liquors, served with mixers for their signature cocktails. These drinks were what the distillery was most known for. The ambers were their more recent whiskey offerings, consisting of differing ageing and steeping techniques, to create their very different spirit flavors and textures. Jonathon was able to give us the history of each spirit, as well as provide mixing options, if they were a little strong for the palette. The ambers were all unique and each provided a little something for you to think over and you tasted your way through the Murlarkey display. We really enjoyed the tasting, the whiskey, the ambience, and especially Jonathon, who made the experience totally worthwhile. We grabbed a couple bottles, some of their great Bootlegger Boys merch, and made our way to their cocktail bar, Proof to taste some more of their signature cocktails. If you're in the area and looking for a fun way to spend a couple hours, look no further than the Murlarkey Distillery. Hope to see you soon.

I show up with both my classic Jeeps this time at the car show today. my elderly mom was helping me drive my other one so I could bring two cars I ask the young lady if I can park really quick to the side so I can coordinate with my mom and fill the paperwork out . Since my mom doesn't know how to park or what do at these shows and I didn't want to hold up the line as I had cars behind me and my mom. Plus I have to drive her back home so I have to park both cars myself And that asshole lady was extremely rude to me, telling me I have to hurry up and I can't park in those spots even for a min or two just to coordinate with my mom. Is that how I am gonna be treated when I ask to park there for 2 min to get out of the way of other cars ? What a fucking joke What will you have me do sit in the middle of the road ? You know what I am no longer recommending this distillery. You all can kiss my fucking ass. I'm not spending money on the butterscotch whiskey like I have for years anymore. About 30 minutes before closing, the owner's daughter refused to make us another drink, even though the distillery was still within its posted business hours. We weren't ordering food, just cocktails. There were four of us ready to order another round, so the business not only left us with a disappointing impression but also lost the sale of four additional drinks. If the posted closing time is 8:00 PM, I would expect drink service to continue until reasonably close to closing time. It's a shame because our bartender provided excellent service and we were really enjoying our experience up until that point.
