Had another vehicle failure Friday around 4 pm when most businesses begin shutting down for the weekend. I backed part way into a parking slot when the transmission linkage broke. I called VIP Brewer and was told I could tow it there but the earliest it would be looked at would be Monday by one of the specialists. Our favorite specialist 'Wes the Wizard' would be off untiI Tuesday. I rode with the tow to VIP and waited for a ride home. Saturday morning Paul at VIP called to say that Wes was working and repaired the transmission linkage even better than the dealership could've done! No surprises there! I left a review on their page about them ruining my steering wheel cover. they did remove my steering wheel cover, but with greasy hands. the manager called me the next day and offered to pay for it. So, all was forgiven. However, the alignment is terrible! it's actually worse than when I brought it in. I had new parts put in (that's why I got an alignment done). But it is pulling to the left like bad! if I let go it'll be in the bushes. Like my wheel is turned when the car is going straight. I have never had this issue! it wasn't even pulling when I brought it in. So, I'll be going to the one in Skowhegan. they guarantee there's for 90 days and they are good! Side note, the manager told me in ten years he has never had his guts ruin anything (like a wheel cover) but that's not true based on the reviews I've read. I really wanted to give a good review and work with the manager but idk. Bringing it back to have them try again seems pointless. In July I needed my muffler replaced on my Kia Soul. They explained the cost and what they needed to do. The cost was much less than the dealer would have charged. They kept my car overnight, ordered the necessary parts needed and I had my car back the next day. This is not the first time I have gone to them for work on my car and I have never been disappointed. The staff is fantastic and Jordan is the best. My husband and I will not go anywhere else. I recently brought in my admittedly older gmc jimmy in for a drivers power window that would not roll up.it was the weekend and my regular garage was closed, so I called vip for appointment, no issues. I arrived for my appointment and was in the waiting areawhen the tech who was looking at my vehicle came in and said he did get the window up by slamming the door while holding the button,it was raining so that was good.he also said the inner door panel was damaged this I knew. I had another shop add fasteners to it to make it easier to close, I don't have use of my left arm due-to a accident I askedthis was a permanent repair he said no,I would need a regulator as well as a motor, the price quote was 677.00 dollars. I assumed it was just the motor.his response theygo hand in hand. I did find this odd because they never completely removed the inner door panel to be sure, I guess they have x ray vision. I declined, I paid 84 dollars for someone to slam my door, and never properly diagnose the problem, dont forget the 7 and some change shop fee for the grand total of 10 minutes they had my car, I guess it's their version of a mandatory tip. The only thing that I was really upset about was when I got my car back the inner door panel was way looser then when I brought it in, it looked like they tried to pry it and definitely removed some screws that were not replaced. The feeling I got was they were just interested in selling you parts and labor you may or may not need.it or would have been nice to get my vehicle back in the same condition that it arrived in. I'm going to make a appointment at my regular shop to see if they can re secure the door panel,and to properly diagnose the window issue,I'm pretty sure it's just the motor. I think there just interested in seeing how much money they can squeeze out of you.I have no problem paying for a repair and parts if they are actually needed. I am not paying seven hundred dollars for a guess.i also admit the door panel was damaged prior, I just would have appreciated it being returned in the same condition,not worse. The panel was refastenedby my regular shop a while back, now it's way looser making it difficult to close the door. I was also upset with getting a quote for labor and parts when they never comply removed the door panel to be sure all those parts were actually needed. while I do appreciate the window being closed when I left I did not like the process or the billing.im making a appointment at my regular shop they always show me the bad part and why it needs replacement,not just a guess to sell more parts, thats what I got at vip. so if you like to be fleeced go there. I will never spend another nickle at any vip store ever.my recommendation is find a honest shop, the only reason I went to vip was it was the weekend and it was raining, in hindsight I would not do it again. read more

I took my mother's 2016 Nissan Rouge in for an oil change. Before taking it I checked the owners manual for the recommended oil. The manual clearly states that "SAE 0-20 is the recommended oil (this is a full synthetic oil) but SAE 5-30 (conventional oil) may be used and will not effect the new vehicle warrant". So the problem started when I asked for SAE 5-30 blend to save myself about 20 bucks. The clerk I was talking to began to tell me that they can only use the SAE 0-20, as it would void the vehicle warranty. When I continued to challenge him about what the owners manual clearly states and even showed it to him, he insisted that the 5-30 needed to be the more expensive full synthetic or it would void the manufacturer's warranty. It wasn't until my insistence and another read of the manual, he agreed to use what I wanted! Not happy for all the aggravation! read more

I was very pleased with my experience at VIP this morning when I took my car in to get routine service and to replace the battery. The guys at the front desk were friendly, knowledgeable, and surprisingly quick/efficient. From car drop off to pick up, it was exactly one hour and reasonably priced. The store itself had a good variety of well-organized auto supplies as well as tire options, and I would definitely feel comfortable coming back if I needed to get an oil change or to get winter tires, etc. read more

They have always been accommodating in making appointments and reasonable in prices for service. I purchased snow tires here and took the tire maintenance plan. Best idea ever. I used a coupon for free State Inspection for my car. I was told my car failed because I needed brakes and rotors on my car. I took the car to Toyota and found out I did not need brakes at all and passed the state inspection. I highly recommend you stay away from this place. Crooked read more

Latest visit was today to finish up some OBD updating for TPMS with new winter tires and rims. Counter and service bay staff helped collect sensor ID number information I needed, which was beyond the scope of the reprogramming maintenance service requested. Today I am waiting, again for my truck to be done at VIP in Brewer. I dropped it off at 4:30 the night before with an agreed upon pick up time of 10am. VIP called at 9:45am to say it would be another hour. Since the time that I paid for a life time tire rotation and life time alignment I have had disappointing visits to this location. It is looking as if, once you have paid for a "free" service, the service becomes sub strandard. Each visit has taken at least 20 minutes to "check in" even though I have called ahead to schedule an appointment. My truck has never been done when promised and usually the response is a shoulder shrugg and "I'm sorry". On one scheduled appointment I watched a "walk in" go ahead of my vehicle even after my scheduled time had past. I will continue to use this location for the "free" services but be assured that any work that I will have to pay for will be with a more professional business. read more

Can't say I was much surprised for the inspection fail. I just read all 208 pages of the State of Maine Inspection manual and no where in there did I find ANY of the things my car failed for. VIP must have a higher standard, I'm sure the manual is called, "How to screw over your bread and butter customers"! (For the the tech: bro next time drink less the night before or just call out.) I'll never step foot in there again and it's really too bad because the O'Reilly's auto parts side was better than expected. First-rate service and very knowledgable technicians--I felt my 2011 Jeep was in good hands. I didn't have an appointment and they took me right in. Had an oil change and the technician recommended I have the fuel system service cleaned because my jeep would run better (and would be good for the engine in the long run). And you know what? IT RAN SO MUCH BETTER!!! What a difference! I live in Bangor but will absolutely only go to this VIP location in Brewer because the techs there are rock stars. read more
