I took him let them know what was going on. They ran some tests. Tests came back and one doctor said it was "life threatening levels" that had come back but that they should be able to figure out what to do to help him. I got talked into getting an optimum wellness plan, I had been laid off a couple of months ago so I knew I couldn't carry a $1000+ bill so I figured I could do $75 monthly. Then they started running more tests and tacking on more bills, I went to go check out and the first day it was $250, the next day it was $150 for an IV fluid transfer that I never gave consent for them to do. I was then given a prescription because they had swore up and down that my boy had diabetes, I didn't feel that the diagnosis was proper or accurate but I was willing to do anything because this is for my soul cat. They asked that I make an appointment to come in next morning so that I could be properly taught how to give insulin. I come in and the vet tech looks at my boy and asks me how he's doing, I told her the rundown again and her face looked horrific due to them trying to diagnose my boy with diabetes. A cat with diabetes would be eating is what the vet tech said, my boy hadn't eaten in 4 days. Didn't want wet food, didn't want his dry food, didn't want his treats, or his churus. I was then told that he was not diabetic that he was actually at the end stage of severe liver failure. He had jaundice so I had to make the decision to put my boy down after evaluating his quality of life. I went to go cancel the wellness plan and they are now saying I either have to pay $75 each month for my boy who is now dead, that they didn't do anything to help him, or I have to pay $890 to cancel. To say that I am infuriated would be an understatement. You are a pet hospital, you are dealing with peoples fur babies and their loved ones. You should not be this negligent. Avoid Banfield hospitals at all costs.

I'll be brief. I recently lost my beloved 6 year old cat at MedVet after his 4 day stay there…read more That loss was very difficult and painful enough, but the over $12,000.00 vet bill for his care and stay made his death much, much worse due to the sad simple fact that MedVet does not offer either any kind of a bereavement discount if your pet dies in their care or any kind of a discount to seniors living on a limited income. Those types of compassionate discounts are something that they very seriously need to think about offering. I think it would seriously help with their ratings (and their ratings could frankly use some help). I honestly do trust that they did everything possible to save my cats life and they all appeared very professional, very caring, compassionate and concerned. However, their billing policies shows very clearly that their final bottom line is that they are very much a "for-profit business" and you should have no illusions about that if you take your pet there for help. The first thing they ask about after getting your name and your pets name and why you are there, is your credit card information. One final thought......please carefully look over their other reviews here (I sincerely wish I had before I took my poor cat there) and then think about what you have read in these reviews a bit and then honestly ask yourself: "Why are so, so many of their reviews only one star?" T.S.

I didn't leave feeling I'd been robbed but instead, it was a rather calm experience for my dog and for me, their skeptical take on Internet meds providers, makes sense especially after last summer's overseas dog products poisoning people's pets. You can surely find cheaper meds on the internet and DYI, but I'm willing to pay the extra $5-20 more to buy meds from a real doctor who's supplied by a reputable vendor. As I would expect from any Vet, they called the following day to be sure there were no side effects for my dog. I'll be regular customer in the future.
