That's when Victor Crossfit came in. I had been trying to find a small gym with a focus on group workout (think boot camp style) for a few months before I saw an ad to try Victor Crossfit for 3 weeks at a reduced price. I figured minimal investment of time and money, so if I didn't like it, I wouldn't be locked into a long membership. That was in March, and now entering October, I still go weekly. Lance, Chelsea, Megan, and, Caitlin have creative an environment where you want to go in and work hard. Everyone is super supportive of each other, and the workout, at any level, will push you. The coaches always have scaled versions of a workout so that people will get a great sweat on no matter if they've been coming for 10 years or 1 week. I was never a fan of weights or developing huge muscles but seeing myself improve over time and get stronger, I wanted to keep pushing myself to get to the next weight. You'll feel this way too! The coaches don't force you to use higher weights but they will challenge you to push harder when they see you're going to easy. It's encouraging! I can't recommend this place enough!

It won't be long before you start seeing positive results, get stronger, and make some friends who all want to support and encourage you to get better along the way. CrossFit can be intimidating and often the people doing CrossFit can be even more so. This is a box where you dont have to worry about that. People check their egos at the door here. Coaches are great. They push you but don't overdo it. I came in 6 months ago at 255 lbs, herniated discs in my back, and doctors telling me I'd never lift weights over my head again. I've had to check my own ego, go wicked slow, and just keep showing up. Often the weights I do are well below the prescribed workout but I've gotten stronger and better and proven the doctors wrong. It's all about just showing up and getting a great workout. I'd highly recommend just making the call, and changing your life for the better. All you have to do is show up. Funny thing is that after a few weeks you really start to crave going. It gets addictive!

It's a circuit training/HIIT style workout, where you roll around the studio and run through a series of different exercises designed to get your whole body moving and sweating and just in better overall shape. There's some work on machines (ski, treadmill, bike, etc.), weights, bodyweight exercises, and more. If you've ever done F45 or something similar, it's not far off, but it's a cool local shop with personable coaches in a clean environment with surprisingly nice facilities and even products in the bathroom for when you're through. Everyone we spoke with from the front desk to the trainers leading the session to the other folks working out seemed cool, and we'll definitely be back when we're in town. Like most workouts (and many other things in life), you get out what you put in. Meaning, if you come in ready to see what your body can do, you'll get a great sweat on. They have a shirt for sale that says, "But did you die?" And I like that. Bring your own towel.

The box itself is a tad difficult to find, stay left and go all the way back, when you see the tractor tires, you've made it. Saturday morning bootcamp was small and intimate, only 4 of us there which is always better for coaching movement from the trainers. It definitely has a family feel, everyone got along and were very welcoming and encouraging. Definitely worth a shot if you're looking for a challenging workout!

Especially as the location in Roc on Chestnut St has no real daytime parking unless you want to feed a meter. This location is a bit smaller. No tires to flip and the turf is maybe 1/2 the size. The bathrooms are clean and they offer the same private shower set up however, no locker rooms. So the bathrooms/ showers are right next to the workout area. I think there were 4 bathrooms. Not sure I'd want to shower right there, even with a lock on the door. This location does offer the digital class option in their gym room. You pick a class and there is a large screen set up in the room where the instructor shows up. I didn't try it but it seems interesting. Overall, the gym is clean and has most of the equipment I was looking for. The free weights are somewhat squished into the back area. Medicine balls and kettle bell selections are limited. I think the heaviest medicine ball was 15 pounds. TRX ropes seemed to be of good quality though. I'd utilize this space in a pinch or on days I don't mind driving and need a day time workout. Just to save on parking. Also close to Trader Joe's and Pittsford Wegs so I'd likely plan a multiple stop trip on days I have time to shop and need things in this area.
