Unless you enjoy being humiliated, DO NOT COME HERE…read more
I am not the type of person to write bad reviews, or any reviews at all, but I felt the need to warn people about this place. If you've ever wanted to be accused of fraud, interrogated about your horoscope, and laughed at by the person who's supposed to be serving you, this is your place. For everyone else, stay far away.
The first time was a few months ago. I recently moved here and still have an out of state driver's license, and two of my friends are from the UP with Michigan IDs. The female bartender with long dark brown hair looked at my license and confidently informed me it had to be fake because, and I quote, "the first few numbers on your license indicate that you are a man." I am not a man. I am also well over 21. Neither fact seemed to matter. I was denied service.
We wanted to give this places a second chance, so we came back last weekend. Clearly that was too much to ask. She took my friends' Michigan IDs and declared them fake. When we told her she was wrong, she said she'd looked up their Facebook pages and they "confirmed" my friends were underage. Apparently she's a bartender AND a private investigator now. Too bad she's bad at both, because they're well over the drinking age.
Then came the zodiac quiz. My male friend didn't know offhand that he's a Taurus, which in her expert opinion meant his ID was fake. My other friend, born May 30th, correctly said she's a Gemini, and the bartender told her she was WRONG. She can't read a license and she can't read a horoscope chart either.
The entire time, she called us "babe" in the most condescending tone possible and laughed at us while we tried to get our IDs back. When another friend politely told her she should be more careful about who she turns away, my friend got kicked out and threatened with the police. Just for standing up for us.
We came in as a group of 15+ people ready to spend money, and she single-handedly sent every one of us out the door. If I owned this place, she'd be fired that night. Management, please invest in some actual ID training, and maybe explain that out-of-state licenses exist and are, in fact, real.
