I chose Chevy Smith Photography because he does great work and I received personal referrals. I…read morefelt he had an artistic eye and I was impressed! I interviewed 3 other photographers who were rated high for weddings that also had experience shooting at my venues. I did not realize how important it was to select a wedding photographer. Chevy, is a Studio/location photographer even though he has shot weddings. HE IS NOT A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER!! His work is reflective of a controlled environment. Weddings are not! Weddings have so many components to consider throughout the day. A wedding photographer will be able to manage and adapt. A wedding photographer has the capacity to handle changing situations with finesse and professionalism, as the day often don't go as planned. He assured me he could and would do a great job because he had done over 40 weddings. Cincinnati was a destination wedding for us. I had a weekend of events planned. I'd contracted/prepaid him for my bridal shower/bachelorette party, wedding day events from early morning until the end of the reception and photo booth. I thought I made the right choice. You do not want someone you have to coach throughout your big day because you are bound to forget about what photos are important from moment to moment. He is very unprofessional. He was contracted to arrive at 8pm. He arrived disheveled after 10pm. We planned a location photoshoot prior to the bachelorette party. This didn't happen because he was late to the shower. We stayed to take some pics since I'd already paid him. The result I received photos of the room w/ guest and photos of my bridesmaids that looked like an afterthought. In addition he failed to ensure we looked picture perfect. Every photo I released, I had to edit and I am not a professional. The bridal shower pics would've been okay if we'd taken them ourselves, they were horrible for a paid photographer because some details could not be edited. I was extremely disappointed! Not only was he late, he engaged into a loud verbal argument with one of my guests for expressing how his extreme tardiness had ruined the plans on my wedding weekend. One of my bridesmaids and I had to diffused the argument. He was at least on time on the wedding day. His ONE JOB: to capture the special moments of the day, throughout the day. He failed to get the standard shots one would want on their wedding day. He failed to consider lighting and composition. We got married at St. Aloysius one of the cities top wedding venues. He failed to capture the true essence of the chapel and photos of my mom & I. In addition, NOT ONE of me by myself. I was the first to arrive 2 hour prior. I wore a custom Sara Gabriel cathedral veil meticulously crafted with Swarovski crystals, I was assured that the second photographer would capture the ariel shots of the venue to include my entire dress coming down the aisle. (Not one full shot taken.) I wore an handcrafted customized tiara by Thomas Knoll and a glamorous Stella York gown. Both failed to shoot any of the details. I made it clear prior to contracting him how important it was for him to take control and get the shots we discussed. A real wedding photographer would be sure to capture pictures of the bride, the gown, down to every detail. In addition to understand who the key players were so that they could get the correct shots. He claimed to understand these things. On location at Devou Park, he was not prepared with the proper lighting for the evening. He did not do the advance for where we would stand even though he arrived before the wedding party. The location is my favorite place and one of the most iconic places to take wedding photos in the city and he failed to capture the iconic photos I anticipated. He said audibly in my hearing "dang I brought the wrong camera." Wow!!! Chevy was heard complaining about following my husband & I around the reception as we greeted our guest! I didn't hear about this until later thankfully. While I was impressed with the photo booth, he used the wrong hashtag. I gave it to him when I hired him, it was on a banner at the reception AND it was on the program. How did he get it wrong? He used a different hashtag & spelled my new last name wrong. I didn't notice until after the wedding but my husband did of course because it's his last name! I've yet to receive my album. He was unresponsive for 4 months until he was tagged on a FB post looking for photographers; where I saw the tag and told a friend not to use him because of his lack of professionalism. Someone else agreed. Chevy chimed in and attacked that person's character, appearance and said she'd never be married. (She'd recently lost her husband to cancer btw). Yes this happened; on a post about his professionalism. Another month went by, he refunded $150 for my wedding album instead of delivering. Needless to say I would NEVER recommend Chevy Smith Photography for any reason.

From our initial consultation, to communication leading up to and on the wedding day, they were amazing. They provided some great tools to help us give them all the information they needed and to plan the wedding day timeline as well. The pictures were better than we could have ever expected. They captured some amazing candid moments as well as beautiful poses. SO when I was planning my company's holiday party, I pulled out their card and gave them a call. It also turns out that Snap Booth is super affordable! Sarah and Ryan are very responsive to emails and questions, etc. You can customize the logos/design of the background of the photo strips, and they are just overall wonderful. We even had some weather delays for our party so Ryan graciously stayed an extra hour at our event. I cannot say enough great things about Snap Booth as entertainment and as a vendor to work with. I've been planning events for seven years and they are the best photo booth company I've ever worked with and one of the best vendors in general.

I've been to plenty of weddings, special events, galas and all too often I notice photographers that are just "going-through-the motions" and not having any fun and this is not the case with Snap Booth. The first event I experienced with them was at the Taft Art Museum (a hidden gem of a place located downtown, go check it out) and they used some photo filters and technical wizardry to print out portraits that were "old timey" looking and perfect for the event which celebrated the first photographic prints. So, if you need a booth for an event, give these people a holler. Preserving the moments of your special occasion are something that you should not take lightly. You do get what you pay for and rather than overspending on things such as flowers that will be thrown away, get a photobooth that will produce pictures that will last long after the event. Okay, sorry, I'm stepping down from my photographer's soapbox :) Carry on.

Being on the high school newspaper staff and playing Varsity Tennis at Sycamore High School, I came into contact with McDaniel's Photography many times. Jeremy McDaniel personally shoots thousands of photos for Sycamore's sports and other school events each year, available for use by Sycamore's newspaper and yearbook staffs, but also online for purchase. Having the photos online for purchase is really neat, because whether you play for the football team or perform in the choir concerts, a ton of photos are taken and they are much better and closer than anything your parents can shoot (besides, you can't bring a digital camera into a choir or theater performance anyway) McDaniel's Photography also shoots the team portraits for Sycamore each season, and the entire staff is nice and does a good job. While Jeremy McDaniel does a lot of work with Sycamore, he still is a regular photographer. He does a lot of weddings and family portraits, as well as some senior portraits (although Ron Carroll and Elite Photography get most of the area business for senior pictures), and even portraits for businesses. He also is the official photographer for the Marvin Lewis Community Fund and the Anthony Munoz Foundation, and most recently he shot nearly 1,300 photos at the three-day T.J. Houshmandzadeh Football Camp. Although McDaniel's Photography is newer to the game and not quite as well known as some of the other photographers in town, they are really a great business to deal with for photography. Whether it's posed portraits or candid photographs from sports games/matches and other special events, they do great work and are easy to work with too.

Not only did Kylie deliver stunning galleries, but she curated a whole experience. Right from our first phone call, Kylie made us feel both excited and at ease, which was a theme throughout our time working with her. We had the pleasure of working with Kylie for both our engagement shoot and wedding. When she arrived to the engagement shoot, she brought allll the happy energy and creativity, despite it being like 6 AM on a chilly morning at the beach. She immediately made us feel more comfortable in front of the camera than I thought was possible, and then proceeded to ask us really thoughtful questions about what kind of posing we preferred, which meant a lot to us as a queer couple where assumptions could have been made... Kylie was incredibly quick with the editing and had our gallery back to us the next day, and our photos were literal treasures. She captured our personalities so well. They were a far cry from the stale, cookie-cutter engagement photos I see on instagram all the time. Before the wedding, Kylie provided two calls and made herself available for any questions that came up in between. She worked with our wedding planner to make sure our day-of timeline would run smoothly and that we'd get all the pictures we wanted. By the time the wedding came, we were excited to introduce all of our friends to Kylie and see what magic she would work. She was confident, calming and encouraging the whole day and even handled a delicate family dynamic beautifully. The photos she and her talented assistant, Jordan, delivered were incredible, and we got so many compliments from our friends and family.
