A great hole in the wall spot, that's very chill. Hunter and Charlie are great and helpful when choosing your beer, cider, mezcal or Japanese whiskey. I enjoyed a sour called Nightmare and trying out the this Gingerbread cider which was fun! Love that you can grab beer to go or enjoy it at the bar. Very chill. Will be back. read more

Small but mighty... What to know....they have beer! Well organized shop, with knowledgeable people to guide you as you peruse their well priced great selection of local and imported craft beers. This bottle shop also has a bar with beer on draft (que the harps). This is the place to stop into for a quick drink while taking a break from shopping or at the tail end when gathering some last minute provisions. I was visiting from out of state, this was a great spot that provided an opportunity to pick up some local craft to bring home and support independent local businesses. I liked this place! I really want to rate this place 2 stars, but I'm feeling guilty about being their first review. So, I will rate them three- simply because they suck but I also recognize I'm not their clientele. This place is pretentious and overpriced. You would think Vinyl Wine would be the pretentious one. (They are, but at least they do it with spunk and actually help you.) The guys here are absolute jerks and snobs. Nobody assist you at all. I've been here about ten times. I'm received help once. The guys at the counter don't even welcome you when you step in. They don't even take a beat in their conversation when the door opens lmao. There have been times where there were 4 seperate people have been standing and staring at the cooler and the guys continue to ignore everyone. People have just walked out due to the lack of help. I'm not saying you need to jump down our throats, but even when you do ask for help they give you one choice and then continue their conversation. If you don't like the one choice , well you're shit out of luck. The everyman beer choices are very limited and often left outside the cooler. If you want a six pack, you're again shit out of luck because each beer has its own cost and it's usually five dollars plus. I have a friend that is a beer snob, I usually head to Good Beer down in the EV with him. SO it's not just a beer as an art thing. These guys are just terrible at customer service. Anyway, maybe you love your beer served with an air of chi-chi. This place will be great for you then. If you're a normal person, run far far away. read more

I've been to Vinyl Wine on a few occasions and was surprised and happy to see that they expanded into providing a nice abundant selections in craft beers. So far I have been in on two separate occasions and have been assisted by the same person. On the first visit, I asked for any unique beers they had to offer you wouldn't be able to get anywhere else in NYC. He presented me with a few good ones I ended up buying and trying. On the second visit, had a certain brewery in mind and type of beer I wanted and he was able to show me all the beers that fit the mold that I was looking for. Although it's a bit pricey, it's worth it for those who are into craft beers. I definitely will find myself returning in the future. read more

I JUST learned that this place is here. I am a very big beer nerd (I've checked in 4885 different beers on untappd ) and I'm always collecting beers I haven't had before. This is a true bottle shop in that you are not going to pick up a twelve pack of Miller Lite to get drunk here. The beers cost more than your typical $#1++y macrobrew because they are high quality and generally much more creative and delicious. As far as price goes, the beers here are pretty much the same as any other bottle shop in the metro area. I appreciate that they organized them by style. If you like good beer, this is a great place to check out. I will be back! read more

I really like this place a lot. The staff have been wonderful to me and they seem to really care about me and how my week is going. They are intelligent about a number of topics and also can read when I am in a hurry or need a good story to ponder over my next IPA. Once they gave me an umbrella in a rainstorm and they always help me get my stroller in when I am on baby duty. read more

This is a cool neighborhood beer shop with a great selection and knowledgeable staff. It's a bit overpriced, but it's craft beer in New York, so what else would you expect. If you want a Coors Lite or some other everyday beer, go to your local bodega, but if you want a cool and unique craft beer that would impress your beer nerd friend, this is the place for you! read more

Awesome shop. Been in a few times and love the selection. Very knowledgeable staff that's willing to share their beer knowledge. I see some reviews where it seems like some people expect the staff to read their minds. Just ask them for help! They will hook you up with some quality brews. I waited more than 7 days to give them the benefit of the doubt and my bank time for any hold to be reconciled. After the charges were confirmed by my bank I went by the store in hopes of speaking to the owner as i refuse to speak with anyone who is rude to me a second time but they were conveniently never in. Finally, I called hoping to reach them by phone and the rude cashier answered and told me he did not see any transactions for that day and basically didn't care. I even told him that I didn't want to file a dispute and wanted to give them the opportunity to rectify this, his response was go ahead and have your bank dispute the charges and refund you. So guess what, i will be disputing the charges, receiving my refund and filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. This store is over priced and has a limited selection; it's only positive is convenient location to think customers will continue to endure poor customer service is a joke that won't end well...

Their prices are great for craft beer (yes craft beer is expensive compared to mass produced beer but Vinyl Beer prices are lower than City Swiggers which I appreciate) I go climbing pretty often at Steep Rock - The climbing gym which is right across the street from Vinyl Beer so it is a great spot for a post crush brew. Everyone is super nice and they let me browse without being too pushy (sometimes I am just enjoying the AC). When I do ask for suggestions, they are very friendly and I have loved all the recs. He asked the bar owner for the dog owners name (dog owner wouldn't exchange information) so that Animal Control for NYC and the DOH could have the dog quarantined at home for 10 days. The owners of City Swiggers refused to comply and so my husband needed to go for rabies shots as recommended by the DOH My husband likes the beer but be warned that they allowed a dog with a history of biting and their answer was to ban my husband from the store. We just wanted to avoid the rabies shots. Thanks to Alan and Pam the owners he had to go to the ER and get the rabies series This is how they treat a long time customer!! If you're wondering, my husband likes the beer selection even though it's way overpriced! Some of the same beer at Fairway is cheaper. He used to like hanging out there but the owner's response when asked for help with the dog owner was beyond inappropriate!!
