I've been looking for a Wine store that has a variety of wines and doesn't overcharge. This is that place where you can find some delicious wines at reasonable prices. The selection is great that you can find a nice bottle of Cab or Sauvignon, etc. depending on what you're in the mood for. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for some great wine at reasonable prices. This is a GREAT little wine shop! The selection of wines is really good, from high to low end. The choice of spirits is also excellent and if they don't have your brand, they will suggest a decent equivalent. Nice variety of single malt scotch, too. HELPFUL, FRIENDLY STAFF!!! Decent prices. Minus one star for the prices on spirits - they're honestly a good 15%-20% steeper than nearby shops (e.g. Beacon Wine or 67 Wine), which is odd because the wine prices are totally competitive. I don't that much and when I do buy something, I end up drinking it very slowly. I drink whiskey so I can't be chuggin' the stuff (I shouldn't... but I certainly could down..) every night. Thing is, this place is close to where I live and stocks a decent selection of whiskey. It's not the closest, which doesn't have that much whiskey... and it's not the cheapest, but Bin 70 Wine knows what they're talking about. Normally, I'd go into a liquor store and pick what I'm looking for or just randomly grab something to try. At Bin 70, I can talk to the guys about whiskey and they'd recommend me different things to try. Another surprise was their sake and soju selection too. I don't go to that many liquor stores to actually compare but I was taken aback by the variety of stuff they can pack into such a small store. There are two wine shops in my immediate vicinity, however, I walk the few extra blocks to Bin 70 for the stellar customer service and more competitive prices. I'm not exactly a wine aficionada, but the employees are always great at making recommendations in a non-intimidating way. Hok (or Hak), one of the staff members, knows me and can usually recall what I purchased during my previous visit - Little things like that make all the difference for me. read more

I would have written this review last night, but we were too busy enjoying this lovely establishment's wares. ...that may be all I need to write, but I'll go on. This place has some of the friendliest, most helpful staff I've ever encountered in a wine/liquor store. Good variety on both, as well, which is rare! The sections are clearly labeled and the store is laid out with space to wander. The salespeople will answer any questions you have and make (excellent, in my experience) suggestions. I was impressed with the range of wines they carry for a smaller storefront. And I will say again, FRIENDLY STAFF. People often take a long time and ask many questions in wine shops before buying, and these folks will both greet you and check you out with a smile. That's a big deal to customers, especially when you go in willing to spend up to $80 on a bottle for a nice dinner but don't know what would be quiiiiiiiiiite right and need someone to help you decide! (Yes, this was me. I admit it.) I haven't been to any of their tastings but see signs for them all the time and really, it's a tasting. You can't go wrong. What I can attest to is that their sales are fantastic. I was very pleased that when I bought the cheapest sale wine in the section to make warm-weather coolers with, it was a very good wine. We wound up drinking it straight and enjoying it, I don't recall the last time I've said that for a wine priced in the single digits. read more

A friendly neighborhood liquor store. The selection of wines & spirits are hugeee. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the UWS. I am a wine newb and needed to pick up a few bottles for a holiday party. I walked in clueless and asked for help. They were eager to help and suggested a variety of different wines at different price points for me, explained the taste and gave me some background. I like this place a lot because they have variety selection of wines. And even though I don't know much about wines, the guys who work at the store are very kind and suggest me some good wines all the time. And I think one of the worker is pretty cute. Anyways one of the greatest thing about this store is that they have wine tasting hours, during this hours they have different wines set up for customers to taste. I have had two awful experiences at this place both because of the terrible customer service I experienced with the owner. After the first bad experience (which I excused, giving him the benefit of the doubt), I should've known better than to repeat the same mistake twice. If you are looking for something particular and need the assistance of the staff I would recommend going elsewhere to avoid dealing with the incompetency and arrogance of the staff here. I was beyond dissatisfied with the my overall experience while in the store and will never return again. The prices are above average and the selection is mediocre at best, to add to the main reason for which I will refuse patronage there. Oh and also, I know for a fact they are selling liquor without checking ID, especially if you order for delivery. Do not support a business which sells to underage kids. I live on 70th and West End Ave, and as a total oenophile, wanted to make sure all know that Bin 70 Wine Store had its grand opening 2 weeks ago (with balloons, tastings, and food pairings to match). Everyone who works there is my kind of wine lover....open, welcoming and they have taken the "snobbery" out with the cork. Awesome. Wine stores for me are like Barnes and Noble and they accommodated with no problem. Prices are fair....selection is boutique in style but hits all the "highway" wines. I want to see this store succeed. And just so you know, I am not employed by them nor have any affiliation. I am just a wine lover that wants this "hood" to have a great place to go...no attitude, fair prices, great selection, no bull. And if you read this and are a shopper at Ehrlich's on the corner of 70th and Amsterdam, please know you are getting ripped off each and every time you enter that store. They make me incredibly angry because it is stores like that that give wine a bad name...67Wine, Beacon and Bin70 all have prices that are at least 15% cheaper and far better selections...Keep in mind I am not even delving into the curt and useless people who work in Ehrlich's. Since this store is in my neighborhood, I was looking forward to buying my elderly parents, who were with me, a decent bottle of wine for the New Year. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The staff recommended a bottle of wine that was undrinkable and tasted like vinegar. When I came back to the store to complain to the manager of the store, he was both rude and insensitive to both my elderly parents and me. Very disappointing to say the least. read more

Bin 70 is a great find with excellent variety, good value at both the high end as well as lower. The shop is very well organized & fun to browse around. It's a got a boutique feel & cool vibe with a very friendly staff. You can listen to cool music while you're there too. If you're in a hurry & need a solid recommendation, the staff can do that while respecting your budget (something I really appreciate). They're very friendly to everyone from the harried mom, couple looking for a dinner wine, the older folks.... The shop has regular wine tastings & have a convenient Sunday schedule too. My wife and I have lived in NYC for over 8 years and Bin 70 is the single best retail vendor experience we've had! The owner and his staff are beyond friendly and extremely helpful. Their selection is great, recommendations were always spot on and delivery was fast every time. We were lucky enough to know the owner at his original store in Chelsea and funny enough he opened the West End store right after we moved to Riverside Blvd. We are off to the burbs in Connecticut this week, but will definitely miss calling Bin 70 for our weekly order! read more

The most horrible customer service I've ever experienced anywhere in my life! Brought a bottle back that was corked & was accused of pouring something into the bottle. I was appalled & amazed!! I asked for an exchange & was asked to leave the store repeatedly & then accused of having recently brought back a bottle of Yellow Tail. First, I don't drink Yellow Tail & second, I've never been in this shop b'fore. The owner refused to exchange or credit and worse - refused to entertain the notion that I was and am TELLING THE TRUTH!! This looks like a great place, but the manager apparently doesn't honor prices posted above the wine bottles, even if his salespeople endorse them. On a first visit here, I asked the very nice sales guy to recommend a good $20 bottle of pinot noir, and he pointed out 3 different suggestions. I chose one of his recommendations, which had a sign below it marked $22.99, and he pulled it off the shelf and tried to ring it up. The price kept coming up as over $30, so he called the manager, who said the bottle was mislabeled, and who refused to honor what his salesperson -- and the sign above the bottle -- had said the price would be. Very very friendly staff, but as soon as they have your money they will just deny things and dismiss you. I bought a few bottles of wine here and left with them in a box that they gave me, but I noticed they charged me twice for a more expensive bottle and didn't notice because we were all having a conversation. When I went back to tell them about it he immediately started muttering about the cameras and that I took an extra bottle that I didn't. They were very rude and when I asked to see the footage he wouldn't let me. Be very careful with these people. read more
