It's written below, but I just want to reiterate: This place has moved two doors down and now NO LONGER HAS PLEXIGLASS between you and the bottles! This is fantastic, as I hate that 90% of the liquor stores around here make you feel like you're in some sketchy fishbowl. Unity's selection is adequate. I wouldn't expect to get anything super rare, but they've got all the essentials and the staff is pretty friendly and knowledgeable if you've got a question. Unity Liquors is my local go to shop for all my liquid courage beverage needs. They have a huge selection of wine and liquor and the prices are reasonable. This is close to my house so it's easy for me to stop in and pick up a nice cold bottle of my favorite moscato then head home to unwind and relax. The staff has always been friendly and helpful any time I have visited. They have a refrigerated section so you can get an already chilled bottle if you're in a hurry to get to a nearby house party. I recommend this spot to all my friends in the area and it never disappoints. Thank you Unity Liquor for the great service and wonderful selection. I will be returning very soon for more good stuff. Also, bring your ID of course! They are very good at checking ID so don't expect to slide under the radar. Happy drinking people. read more

"Everybody should believe in something; I believe I'll have another drink" This place is A-OK, for sure. A convenient stop on my brief subway walk home to grab a back-up bottle of vodka. This place is a million times better than the last one that was here. First off, the bullet-proof glass is gone. Now you can actually see and peruse the wine selections. You also aren't crammed into a tiny space with crazy lotto buying fiends. Staff is very courteous and efficacious. Once and a while you will catch a wine tasting here, but don't expect anything monumental as last time they were serving a brand called "Be Flirty". I mean ya just gotta go with it. The wines reps are usually really sweet. Can I also pose the question: what is it with liquor stores and cats? I suppose there's no *sanitary* threat...but kiiiinda makes me wanna give my bottles a quick wipe down when I get home. LOTTO available too (which meant this place was heaving during last weeks mega millions). Prices are ok. Cheaper than Hells Kitchen, but there is a place on 145th and Broadway that has even better prices. Handle of Georgi here $18.50, Place down the street $14, Hells Kitchen $21, Liquor Store that delivers $priceless (anyone thought of that) Sad but true, yes I know. This is really more of a 3.75-star review...but what the heck! Let's bump it up! The store is ghetto-fabulous with a nice selection of liquors, cordials, and wines...and bullet proof plexiglass that you can actually see through (instead of the kind where they put so many things on it you can't see what's for purchase behind the glass). The man running the store is very nice and takes time with each customer to fully answer questions and make recommendations without having anyone feel like they're waiting too longer to receive service. Horrible, unprofessional, and will never purchase anything from this place. I ordered through Drizzly and my order 1 bottle of wine with fees and tip costs nearly $34..( the wine was only $19.99) . I received a phone call and a man said that the store was out if the wine i ordered. Now, it is the stores responsibility to maintain an accurate list of inventory online. If you're out of stock DON'T accept the order..This man says he has the more expensive version of my wine for $2 more...yes, I should pay MORE for the store's mistake. He tells me in his crappy English " I give you option" No. Any legit business will say hey our mistake here's the other wine..This was my first time getting linked to the store...a big waste of time folks..Finally as I express frustration and attempt to discuss the issue he HANGS UP...great customer service...whoever owns Unity Wines your worker is trash...and cost you a customer..over $2...congratulations...you lost $34 because I wouldn't be screwed into paying $2 more...and my refund better be in my account or there will be hell to pay... read more

I've been here twice. Yesterday was my second time. The staff, especially the lady, is always helpful! I went to a few other stores before this one and I couldn't find any Kosher for Passover Moscato and guess what they had it! While she was ringing me up we had a little chit chat about life, she was really pleasant. The prices are on par with NYC. They'll def have my business again! read more

OK, so I've lived in this neighborhood now for almost 8 years. I'm glad that this place no longer has bulletproof glass in front of it and the wine selection is decent. But $15 minimum to use a credit card??? They've enforced this twice on me and that's twice too many times for me at this point. So they're willing to lose $13 over a small surcharge. Cheap and bad for business. Everyone uses credit cards now. I'm not buying a banana at a deli. These are purchases of no less then $12-$14.... I've been to this liquor store a few times because it is convenient -- right near the subway on the way to my house. Tonight, I went there to buy a gift for someone, a bottle of Blanton's, a very good Bourbon. It's usually $85, but when the woman rang it up, she saw that it was $150. She questioned it. The man, I think his name was Simon, said that he just changed the price because the company is only delivering a few bottles a year to the liquor stores. I gave in because it is a present for someone and I didn't think I had time to shop around. When I got home, I decided to call the liquor store further up the hill and my old liquor store in the Sutton area. Both said, Yes, the price had gone up but they are now $100, not $150. I immediately called the first liquor store back and said I was bringing it back over for a refund. They said no, they don't take any returns, even if it was only bought 15 minutes before. They are price-gouging and I will never go there again and I would recommend that people go a few more blocks up the hill and they will get better prices for exactly the same thing. read more

I thought I was in the wrong place the last time I walked in here. They used to be a really ghetto, bottles-behind-plexiglass and only pay-through-a-rotating-slot kinda place. But they moved next door! And the place is big, bright and no plexiglass in sight! Not sure if this effected their great prices since I didn't get my usual bottle of Ketel, but their selection is great. Service is friendly and fast. Decent - definitely not a 4/5 star wine store but for the neighborhood... Ok. There is a seller on 145th and Broadway with 3x the selection - but that place is a Behemoth (another story). This store is small enough for a grab-n-go before a dinner party. Prices are decent... But most of the stuff is not labeled with prices! You have to ask for practically every bottle. I hate that. The have large price tags for the stuff the WANT to sell you. They used to not have ANYTHING labeled. Now, they do label the occasional bottle of wine- the first one in the row- but if someone buys it, you can't tell the prices for the other 9 bottles. Label all the bottles or make price markers = Retail 101. Common. It sounds petty, but imagine going to the grocery store and nothing was marked with a price; you have to wait until you get to the register... You'd never shop there again. That may fly in Sonoma/Napa Valley, but Harlem...?! The staff seems nice, so that's one good thing. Coupled with the location, it could gain a star if one knew how much things cost before hand. I have shopped at this neighborhood wine store for over 6 years. This review is based on a single visit on Christmas eve. My boyfriend and I after a long day of grocery shopping store at Unity for couple bottles of wine and a lotto ticket(why not.) Everything was great until we got to the register. The register closest to the refrigerators was down so we proceeded to the other. I went to the line for the lotto and my boyfriend to pay for the wine. I soon heard my bf say to the cashier (it's an international/European debit card) I immediately went over to see what was wrong. I explained to the cashier it's a European card and could he just swipe it one more time (whilst removing my own (American) card from my wallet just in case. The cashier SIMON, began to raise his voice and was visibly annoyed. ( how hard is it to just re-swipe the card) I got my card out and to my bf to just use mine. Place the card directly infront of my bf, practically in his hands, and walked back to the lotto area. No less than 2 mins later I hear raised voices, I look to his direction the cashier is removing the wines from the plastic bag and telling my bf to get out he's not going to sell to us. His reasoning??? Apparently I threw my card in his face. There were 3 other workers in the store at the time only the lotto cashier came over to see what was wrong and asked his to cash us out. He refused. This was the most embarrassing incident I have ever experienced and the poorest display of customer service I have experience. After calling the store to speak to the manager he told us we were both wrong (cashier and us) He explained my boyfriend was wrong because his international card did not work and refused to even acknowledge that I gave them my very American card to pay. Obviously, this store does not believe in customer service or value their customers. Thank God for "Hamilton Discount Wine & Liquor" A little up hill from my home but cheaper, friendlier and deliver!!! read more

Unity Liquors is a Bubha-send in a neighborhood where yelling through a one inch plexi glass window is the norm. Here you can walk in, roam around, read the labels, then make your purchase...like every other city I've lived in. I'm here mainly for the wine, and am never disappointed. It's not top shelf stock, but they do have a great selection. I usually by the 1.5L bottles of Pinot Noir for $11 a bottle, and I must say it's great. And to all those liquor stores around here with all the bullet proof nonsense, I apologize. I'm sorry that you're so paranoid. You will find me, and my money at Unity Liquors. read more

The selection is pretty good for the area. I'm usually able to find what I want or need with only a few exceptions and a substitute is always available. One frustrating thing is the lack of price tags or stickers on the bottles. There may be one that has a sticker on it but if someone bought that one you have to remember how much it was or guess. The main sticking point for me is their attempt at enforcing a $15 credit card minimum. Federal law allows for merchants to set a credit card minimum but the legal maximum for that limit is $10. I make it a point to report them to both Visa and MasterCard if they try to pull this on me. Who knows, maybe getting fined will change their tune? read more

The owners just moved to a new location a few stores down. There is no longer plexi glass ... so you actually look at what you're trying to purchase. This place has mostly wines and a pretty decent wine selection. The wine is on the floor and all the hard liquor is behind the counter. The staff is pretty friendly and helpful. I'm not sure how this place stays in business. The way they store their wine must not meet safety standards. On several occasions the wine purchased has been rancid and undrinkable. The one occasion I tried to return a bottle that was turned, I was told they don't refund ever no matter what. What kind of wine store forces their customers to pay for rancid wine? This is my go to store in Hamilton Heights. They have a great wine and liquor selection. I like to stroll around and find the perfect bottle of wine for the night. This is one of the few Liquor stores that i go to and am greeted nicely by the staff and attended help without asking. The people who work there are so polite and open to give you your opinion on the different types of wines. Thank god the store no long has plexiglass in it because i couldnt hear what they were saying in that old store and when i was asked to go in the old store id be cramped =[ but now theres space and i even bring my dog there which is great because he loves the staff even gets excited enough to tinkle a little. if you ever go there tell them Melissa recommended you its great ! read more
