If you are planning a wedding, read this FIRST!…read more I am a high functioning OCD type of person, and when we decided to get married with only 2 and a 1/2 months notice I went into overdrive planning. We identified a location and starting tasking friends and contacting vendors within a week, but I quickly started to get overwhelmed with the amount of effort. I was trying to juggling working full time, traveling for work and planning a wedding with next to no notice when my best friend begged me to find a day-of wedding coordinator. I turned to trusty Yelp to help me out and was sad to see the lack of reviews for wedding vendors. However, I did find one review for Buffee Ann and saw I could contact her for a quote. She quickly replied and when I decided not to move forward was sweet in her response to my poor life choices. Only a few days later I changed my mind and she encouraged me to skype with her before making another bad decision. I am so glad I did! From the start Buffee was energetic and encouraging while also allowing my strong personality to dictate as much as I could of the planning process. I have to say at the end of the day, hiring Buffee to help me out was the BEST IDEA EVER! If you're planning a wedding, get help from the very start. Buffee offered suggestions for vendors after we ran into challenges with a few of ours, and we realized she would have been a savior if we had used her from day 1. She worked with our bartending service to help resolve a difficult issue and found me someone to help with my hair (which received numerous compliments). Buffee even offered to add some much needed make-up to my very ungirly self. To say she was a fairy godmother would be an understatement. If you're looking for help with planning anything, go no further. Buffee Ann will take care of you, be your cheerleader, and provide excellent suggestions for local vendors.

But finding Buffee and Magical Moments was a huge stroke of luck. She helped us figure out exactly what we want. It was the perfect mix of making sure we got the wedding that we specifically wanted but she also knew when we were unsure about something and she always pushed us in the right direction. We both really cannot say enough good things about Buffee. She made our wedding, something both of us always dreamed of but figured we could never have, the most amazing day of our lives. We're an LGBT couple and especially living in the midwest you never really know how people are going to be or if they'll even want to help you, but Buffee and Magical Moments made our wedding seem so important to them and made sure we found the vendors who would best serve our needs. If anyone ever asks me for advice on wedding planning I'm sending them to Magical Moments immediately.

I can't recommend Decemeber from Soirée Event Designs high enough! We were planning our wedding…read moreceremony and events on our own up until a month and a half prior to the date. As the date became closer, we started to feel a bit overwhelmed with all the details. I received Decemeber's information from a friend, and from our first interaction, she was a true professional! Because we were less than two months from our wedding, Decemeber moved to schedule our face-to-face meeting quickly. The introduction discussion was well organized and she walked me through all of our vendor details, wedding party, must-haves, etc. My fiancé and I thought we had covered all our bases, but it was obvious after our discussion that there were many other details we needed to address. Decemeber made this feel like a breeze, and immediately helped wrap up finishing touches and assembled a "day-of" timeline. She began coordinating directly with our vendors, to eliminate the stress from the groom and me. Because of all the work Soirée did up front, the day of our wedding was well executed, relaxed and most importantly fun! As the bride, I didn't have to worry about who needed to be where and when. Decemeber had all of this outlined for us. She even found a new hairstylist two weeks before the wedding, after I decided to make a last minute change! From the first phone call with Decemeber to giving her a hug at the end of our wedding reception, she made wedding planning a stress-free process and our day was executed to perfection! (And if there was a hiccup, she handled it and we never knew) On top of her professionalism, Decemeber is a joy to work with to plan a major event.

Heritage Ranch was selected by the bride and groom of the wedding we attended and I have to say…read morethat this place is stunning, family run and with lots of space their wedding was one of the most memorable ones I have attended. Simply know by locals in Sedalia as "The Barn" Heritage Ranch is indeed a barn, a barn constructed to look older than it is with a mix of recycled and new materials. In addition there are two. . .huts? One for the groom's wedding party and one for the brides. . .be warned. . .these are the only two areas with air conditioning and if you are going to have a wedding in anything other than winter that barn gets toasty. . .not toasty enough for me to dock a star but tosty enough for me to say that the family that ownes it might need to look into better cooling options than the random massive fans that were everywhere. . .pordable AC units are a thing. . . LADIES! The parking for the venu is a rock field, as in the roadway is made of loose rocks, bring flats or boots and switch to heels when you get to the barn. No really Don't try to do the lot in heels. Behind the barn sits a small play area for children that we found quite functional. Remember to READ what you are signing up for though because there is a lot of clean ups you will be responsible for, you turn everything back over the way you got it. Loved it, loved Sedalia A very good venue option for sure.

I hold the owners of this "business" completely responsible for ruining what was supposed to be a…read morespecial day. To start with I was told that there would be handicapped accessible bathrooms available and there was not. I had family members that were not able to stay because they were not able to access a bathroom. We were told there is plenty of power to run the roasters and what not throughout the evening. That was not the case at all. After having to agree to pay $100 to have fans put up to use, they couldn't be turned on because it blew all the breakers. Now on to your $1000 damage deposit. While I do understand the reason for having that deposit, what you have considered damage is absolutely ridiculous. A few kids picked some flowers and that gives you the right to say that we now owe you a certain amount of money. I think not! And to think you can charge me because of said handicapped family needing to pull closer (on a driveway that was already there) is just wrong. I hope you never have family that needs a little closer drop off somewhere and are told sorry we're gonna charge you $500 to do so. Then to even consider that, in the men's bathroom there was people purposely peeing on the walls! That is just plain absurd! What else is there, oh yes the Adirondack chairs that you claim were destroyed because of being moved around. Then why do you even have the chairs if you expect them to never be moved? You have also claimed that there were rocks that were destroyed. They are rocks and you seem to think that they are worth a couple hundred dollars, are out of your mind. Lastly and even more important than the handicapped accessible parking and restrooms was the fact that you actually saw no problem with getting into altercations with our family and guests! I hope that at some point you have to deal with the embarrassment that you caused me and my husband. If this is to be your business, I promise to make it my goal to see that you have no business!

We highly recommend Carmen Hocking!…read more We were recommended to her when we had reached out to another contact that fell through. Our first call was very thorough discussing our relationship and the type of ceremony we envisioned. Once we got a copy of the ceremony, we worked on a couple of rounds of revisions and Carmen was receptive to all our changes. Our wedding was at The Elms and Carmen had led ceremonies there before so that made it really easy as the staff were comfortable with her and vice versa. She stayed for our reception and my family really enjoyed getting to know her. Carmen was always very responsive and just a delight to work with. Thanks, Carmen!

3 1/2 years ago Carmen Hocking was our wedding planner. The reason I'm only now writing the review…read moreis I've had difficulties reliving negative experiences inflicted by Carmen. I write this to help give me some closure since there was no closure given on her end & to help save anyone from going through what we went through. I don't have enough room to explain everything that happened so I'll do my best to give you an idea. We got married outside of her radius so the first thing we wanted to figure out was if we decided to go with her, what the additional cost would look like. She decided to give us a deal to help us decide to go with her. And later on when she actually started traveling to the venue we were made aware that gas mileage outside of her radius, according to the contract, was worded much differently than she intended. Even after she admitted fault with the inconsistency she still made sure we paid it so really we never got a deal. As we continued making payments to her, her attitude in her emails started to change. She became very condescending & we felt extremely disrespected. According to her contract I was entitled to as much conversation with her as I wanted yet she kept trying to charge me extra for talking about certain topics that were already included. Our friend officiated the wedding & she was aware of the need for her to coordinate the rehearsal & ceremony which she agreed to. For whatever reason the day of the rehearsal she suddenly was unaware of this so instead it became a cluster. She just kept saying it wasn't her job since she wasn't officiating. It got to the point where I had to jump in & try to use what little time we had left to clue our wedding party in to what we wanted the next day. We hardly got anything accomplished which then resulted in the ceremony being really unorganized. Because our wedding party was basically making it up as they went along our grandparents ended up sitting down when they got no instruction prior to the ceremony causing them to not even participate so we didn't get them in the video. These are some of the big instances that happened during the process, but there were more. And unfortunately it didn't stop there. She affected us during our honeymoon & for about six months after the wedding through our social media & our parent's. I should have stood up to her better when I tried to & stood up to her more often. An even better solution would have been to cut ties & move on, but I was not strong enough at the time to stick up for us when she was wrong. I also got nervous about the money we had already paid to her. And when we finally confronted her about every instance she never responded & we have not heard from her since. Hindsight is 20/20, but we wish we never would have gone with her.
