Way too expensive. I've gone several times and haven't found a single thing worth the price listed.

If you're looking for a collectible and can't find something here...you're not looking hard enough…read more Lol This store is in the Old Market district of Omaha and was almost overwhelming. At points in my life I have collected comic books, other comic book related items, movie related merchandise, and diecast. This place has all that and more...! Shop smart and take your cell phone to stare and compare. I found a few items reasonably priced, but I found quite a few more that were well above what they could be purchased for online including shipping. One thing about collectibles though... Sometimes it's worth a few dollars more to have it in your hands. I've been surprised a few times when I received items that weren't as described or packaging was damaged in transit. Antiques and collectibles are a different market as a buyer... If you see something you want it's better to buy it right then if it's priced within reason. You may never find that same item again... Old Market is what Old Market is... It's geared to tourists and things are often a little high priced in areas like this. So is their rent usually... These areas attract a high volume of people and if you don't want to pay the marked price...someone who comes in right behind you just might. Some of the items here are a little dusty, but I guess that's to be expected with that many surfaces. Pretty hard to stay on top of all of it... The Imaginarium Old Market Mercantile is defintely worth the stop if you are into collectibles and/or nostalgia!

This store is crazy. It has any kind of collectible you can imagine, vintage clothes, Halloween…read moredecor, games, stickers, you name it. I felt like it was a little overwhelming for my taste, but I could see how if you really liked one of the collections they have how you would be super excited to find this spot.

Let's get this out of the way first: it's a little out of the way. You gotta go down a side street…read moreyou've probably never taken before, then you've got to go around to the back of the building. But it's worth looking for, as you'll probably find something you didn't know you were looking for. What sets Among Other Things apart from all the other shops selling vintage and consignment stuff for the home is that their collection is well-curated. You won't find cheap craft crap; you'll find cool stuff from throughout the last, oh, 120 years or so. Any of it would look good in a well-appointed home. And thank heavens, they haven't completely jumped on the mid-century trend as most other such places have. From chairs to rugs to cards, there's something here for anyone with good taste. (I picked up a fairly recent photography coffeetable book at a reasonable price.) There's also an adjoining women's vintage clothing store (unfortunately, nothing for guys). While the location might be a little tough to find at first, it's one to put on your radar. (And not far from NFM, so any time you're thinking of visiting them, stop by here, too.)

Especially when you can find comparable items at a thrift store. As a result some items have been there for quite some time. I love that she also carries some local artists' works. But again, overpriced for what they are. The store is quite crowded, I don't think a stroller could fit through some of the walking paths. I worry about bringing my big purse in. Overall, it's a fun place to peruse, but after many visits, I've yet to pull the trigger on buying anything.

I will say they have some items that they label as vintage or simply older. It was weird seeing the same brand of dinner plates labeled as vintage on one of the shelves. I appreciate that there are so many different booths with different kinds of items inside; trinkets, clothes, music, baskets. The thing I still think about here is the ability to carry around a basket OR place the basket into a metal buggy!

I go to the Brass Armadillo whether I'm hunting for something specific or just looking to kill time while the weather debates being snow or rain. No matter what, I always walk out with something I didn't know I needed but definitely needed. This time? A graduation gift, a coworker surprise, and a nostalgic sugar rush thanks to their retro candy selection. Nothing screams "treat yourself" like a pack of wax lips and candy cigarettes. We laughed, we reminisced, we said "Oh my gosh, remember THIS?!" at least 40 times. The aisles are basically a time machine, and yes, we took the scenic route through the '80s and '90s. Only gripe? They ask if you're in the rewards program after you pay. That's when you find out you had points or cash to use... which is kind of like learning your scratch ticket was a winner after you've already tossed it. But hey, that's on me. Next time I'll remember I'm basically rich in reward points. All in all, a cozy little adventure. Full of memories, surprises, and enough oddities to make you wonder if time really exists inside that place. Can't wait to come back next time I need something... or nothing at all.
