Inside they have 4 chairs for cutting and a couple round the side for washin hair etc. It is a very friendly and welcoming hairdressers. All of the staff know what they are doing and do a really fantastic job. Not only that but they do have really good prices too. Which is hard to come by now days. This service is always ongoing and the prices here are still more than reasonable.I have had my hair cut here for quite a while and they do a great job. So i would recomend them. Five stars as i recomend them for anyones hair whether its a trim, blow dry or dye they can do it all! Give them a visit!

When I was finally seated, I realised the reason for the late start; my hairdresser kept stopping to chat to the other hairdressers midway through my haircut! I ended up feeling cold and bored. My hair looked fine, and friends commented on how nice it looked, but it wasn't exactly what I asked for and I wasn't particularly happy with it. As a student to i was really happy to find they do discounts and rather than try and get me to go with the most expensive hairdresser they advised me on what would work best for my price range. I'm a guy so cannot comment on the women's cuts, but I've never had a haircut that I wasn't extremely happy with here from Adrian (salon always seems to be busy with women clients though so imagine they're similarly excellent). It's not mega-pricey, though you would definitely find cheaper haircuts elsewhere... but as I've found in the past, there are degrees of bad haircuts so I'm more than happy with the results vs cost. I'd take the 1-star review here with a pinch of salt... in all the years I've been coming to 17a, I've never seen the place empty.

Shocking and awful…read more Was with a friend and booked in for a nail appointment 40 minutes in advance which they assured would be fine. When we arrived, the staff looked confused as all the nail technicians were busy with customers. We were told by the nail woman that the appointment was with that she was running 15-20 minutes late. We bimbled around for another 20 minutes, returned, and she was still with a customer. Asked how long she was going to be and she said it would be another 15-20 minutes. Came back 15 minutes later. Customer was gone. After waiting for a few minutes for the woman to resurface, she declared that she was just going for a fag break because it has been a busy day. At no point did anyone ask us if any of the constant delays were okay or if we'd like to rebook. The woman stated she was going for a cigarette break and left - didn't ask us if we minded waiting longer. And there literally was not even one single apology in sight! Even after we said we were leaving because of the terrible customer service. The only reason I'm not giving one star less is that I never got to see what the finished product would have been like. Awful quality of customer service, rude staff, and inability to book appointments correctly make for a two-star review.
