I went here when Dr. Thigpen, my long time GP, moved here. When he left private practice a few years ago, I was fortunate to began seeing NP Shandora Hayman-Jones about once a month for a shot. She is wonderful. Her empathy, patience, and knowledge have been of the highest quality. If she can't answer a question, she finds out the answer and relays it promptly. This office has gone downhill. I was a patient for a long time before moving out of the area. After moving back, I tried them once again, and it has been one disaster after the other. The receptionist submitted the wrong lab test order to the lab technician when I checked in for my scheduled lab appointment. As a result, I had to go back for more blood to be drawn, costing me more time and money. This is not the first costly mistake that I've experienced here, nor, sadly has it been the last. There appears to be little to no communication among the office staff. No one can answer any questions, even simple, general questions that would normally be handled by competent office staff. Instead, the patient is handed off to someone else, who in turn either can't or won't answer questions either. The onus is on the patient to figure out their processes, yet asking questions to understand that process or to try to resolve an issue, is actively discouraged through rudeness and passing the patient off to someone else for an elusive answer that never comes. No one listens to understand what the challenge is, nor do they show any interest or initiative in resolving the actual issue. Solutions are non-existent and, as a result, the quality of care has deteriorated significantly. The problem appears to lie with the office staff rather than the nurse practitioners, who seem to be competent and capable. Perhaps better training for your office staff on clear processes, problem resolution, and setting of expectations will prevent more patients from leaving before you no longer have a viable practice. read more

Front desk receptionist, Kaitlyn, talks loudly about other patients and often discloses patient details to unauthorized parties.

The staff is nice and the building is clean, but the way they handle updating you about your labs is terrible. I went in for a regular annual visit. They found that I had a vitamin B deficiency I got a random call at work with someone basically telling me that I would need to come in monthly for a B-12 shot. I was at WORK and wasn't expecting the call so it was difficult for me to discuss this at all. I felt like something like this should be handled with a scheduled call. I then asked if we could schedule a call so I can discuss this. I then got two callbacks at work on the same day as this wasn't communicated to the staff and they thought I wanted a call back the same day. I explained I couldn't take medical call while at work so you call me or I can call you back at a specific time. Like Why?? When I did finally schedule a time for a call and spoke with the nurse I asked about what my score was for the B-12 and she said it was on the low end of normal. Okay, can I take a multivitamin by mouth to see if that works? The answer was yes! LIke why are you recommending I come in once a month for a shot during business hours (time off for work, gas, etc.) when I could try a multi-vitamin? just seems like they are padding their billing at your expense. Like at least offer it as an option. I also got a second lab result I tried to discuss it with the person calling but they didn't have all the info. Like if you are going to do this at least prep the person calling and give us all the info. I don't trust them to handle my care and will be taking my business elsewhere. While everyone is nice underneath is a corporate machine that may not be operating in your best interest or is doing calls to churn through to move on to the next billable client. Perhaps they are trying to save the patient money by not having an office visit but it just ends up with the patient not getting the info they need to understand the diagnosis/results. If they are going to have someone randomly call to give you a diagnosis on your labs make sure the person can answer questions and schedule a call so the patient has the ability to ask questions. The entire office is exceptional except for Amanda Dykes. She is a know it all naysayer. Thankfully she was treating me for something external that was obvious, otherwise if I had to explain about anything internal she would not believe me. During my visit, she didn't believe me 4 times. 1. I said something bit me through my leggings. Didn't believe me. 2. I mentioned that I got bitten by a brown recluse a month ago and didn't have a large enough reaction to come to the doctor. Didn't believe me. 3. When she asked about my cycle, I said I haven't had any for the last 5 years because of the Mirena. Didn't believe me. 4. When asked if any medical history needed to be updated. I said my father died two weeks ago by taking ibuprofen on an empty stomach and went to bed which gave him a GI bleed. Didn't believe me. read more

What you have are a pack of Nurse Practitioners and various techs processing patients through with little to no interaction on the part of the doctor. And you'll have to visit the office to get anything done. There will be no courtesy for an established patient for calling in a common prescription for a common ailment. They make you visit and so they can collect the fee for any and everything. It's like one of those upscale beauty salons where the owner/hair designer has a lot of girls cutting hair while she herself only occasionally shows up or sees a client. The office staff is speedy, but tend to be unprofessional. You can show up for your appointments and pay your bill on time, but they'll still try to hound you with phone calls and texts. Yes, the doctor's office will text you like some thing out of a trailer park. Speaking of trailer park, the building is a glossed over old run down place. It'd be appropriate for an antique store, but it seems unsanitary for a medical facility. read more

I can't say enough about this office. They are all great, from the front desk to Dr. Vaughn herself and all the NPs and nurses. No matter who I see, I get thorough care. They are all extremely knowledgeable and professional and I have never waited more than 10 minutes to be seen. That includes when they've worked me in. The office decor is cozy and warm and stylish. I would recommend that you stay away from this dr's office. First of all, you'll be on hold for any where from 30 min.'s to an hour. The main thing is that I've been going there for a year, been there 10-12 times & I've not only NEVER been treated by the dr., I've never even met her. I was at Urgent Care a few months ago & mentioned that I'd never met the dr. & the nurse said that was funny, she just helped someone the day before who said the same thing. Dr. Erin is the best! I was happily surprised with my appointment here. Nurses are extremely friendly and helpful. Everyone is super quick. I never had to wait. I always feel very comfortable and well taken care of when visiting Vineville Internal Medicine. Ashley Dykes, NP and the entire staff has always impressed me with their professionalism, efficiency, expertise and overall bedside manner. I would highly recommend their office!!! Wow, oh wow. What you're about to hear is a true story. I made two trips to the ER the past two days, due to my blood pressure being extremely high. Usually between 163/118 -164/100, and with that came a very tight chest, nausea, sweats, the shakes, and labored breathing. It was so bad, that I actually had to call the ambulance out to my store to check me out because I truly thought I was having a heart attack. After the second visit, which was yesterday morning, I had someone take me to my primary care physician to get my meds regulated as the ER doctor just told me that having a severe adverse reaction to the Wellbutrin, for smoking cessation and anxiety, set in motion a panic attack of all panic attacks. So, naturally with my due-diligence that doesn't quit, I just had someone take me from the hospital to the doctor. I then was seen by a Nurse Practitioner, and handed her my discharge papers from the hospital, as to see what was going on the last two days and what the doctor was saying, so as to try and fix my meds accordingly, so that I can work and not feel like I'm literally dying. We have a plan, she tells me the plan, I go home and lay down, as ordered, and have another friend pick up my prescription. Well, he comes over with only one prescription and I do my research. Call the pharmacy, then the doctors office. I simply told them that they had forgotten one of my prescriptions and I would need it called in so that I could hopefully, for the first time in 4 days, feel like a normal human being again. I get put on hold as the After Hours Nurse calls my Doctor, and comes back in less than two minutes saying that they don't call-in controlled prescriptions and that Id have to call back in the morning. I then tried to explain that it's just a medicine she left off. That i was supposed to take it either tonight or tomorrow along with my new med, Lexipro. I asked her if she could have the doctor call me, and she said absolutely not. So, knowing j have to work again tomorrow, and now have NO meds I can take to help ease me through the adverse reaction I'm having to medicine that THeY put me on, I'm a little pisses. I tell the lady, this is horrible care, and why wasn't my prescription sent in the first place, when we had just discussed a plan. The Nurse kept saying the same thing over and over. I finally said, as pissed as I was, when do they open and I'll call tomorrow. Fast forward to about 20 minutes ago, when miss Mary Bell Vaughn calls me, personally. Starts off with saying so what's going on, because you gave my Nurse quite a scare, she almost called the police. Mind you, I'm literally still asleep and think I'm dreaming, so I said "huh", "oh, that's nonsense". I then explained to her that I was pissed, as I should have been, but I never once cursed or threatened anyone. She then goes on to say, I think I should refer you to a Psychiatrist, they'll better suit you. By this time I'm awake and wondering what in the actual fu** is this woman talking about. I just need my prescription called in so I can make it through each day without feeling like I'm having a heart attack. Would be nice, right? So, I then ask why they couldn't just call in the prescription. The owner of this physicians office herself says to me, "We just don't do benzo's or narcotics like that here", to which I replied, "what the hell is a benzo?" She then, after me trying to understand what was going on and where the hell this conversation had even come from, this being the first time I've EVER talked to this lady, goes on to tell me, "I think it'd be best if I sent you to a psychiatrist or another facility, we may not be the right fit for you and you might not be the right fit for us". Well, if you know me, you know what came next..I said, "Ma'am, I don't need a psychiatrist because I had an adverse reaction to a medicine that one of YOUR Nurse practitioner prescribed me without doing her homework, and also...you keep saying to me we don't prescribe those kinds of things...so, would you like to tell me why you've just assumed I'm a drug addict because I'm inquiring about a set of medicine that's to help me counter these adverse reactions?" No response. I told her I was getting irritated because all I'm trying to do is get my medicine. Instead, she calls me crazy, literally, and then labels me as a drug pusher. I'm absolutely...appalled. I have never been so blatantly mistreated and type-casted in the worst of ways. I have NEVER been an addict and NEVER even be in trouble for something remotely close to that. I don't suggest anyone use Vineville Internal Medicine, at all, ever again. God forbid you have one hell of an adverse reaction to something they prescribe you, and you try to get it rectified and you're called crazy and treated like A drug addict. I mean, I'm seriously at a loss for words. read more

This is the best medical practice that I have ever encountered. Their practice model allows me to get in about out in less that 30 minutes every visit. When I am sick I am always able to get an appointment or walk-in and be seen quickly. The care is top-notch and the service can not be matched. As an added perk, the office is incredibly cute! I am so thankful that I can trust my health to such a fantastic physician and support team. read more
