Small and quiet inside, with a few little tables outside, La Formaggeria has a bustling (take away) business in cheeses, a very nice wine selection, and a contingent of locals who hangout. There are daily dinner specials that sounded yummy and my salad was excellent -- topped with toasts of bread + zucchini + cheese. I very much appreciated that, although a single diner, I was given a nice table and afforded excellent service. The owner even popped by my table for a quick chat. And at the end of the night they refused to break my bill so that I could leave a tip -- saying it was appreciated but not expected. La Formaggeria is highly recommended.

If you buy a drink during happy hour you are also welcome to partake in the snackies they leave out in the bar area! The day we came through, there were small pieces of pizza, toast with a spicy tomato sauce (kind of salsa-like, actually), spicy peanuts, cheese puffs, and a variety of small sandwiches with a variety of cold cuts and cheeses. The first step is to visit the enoteca in another part of the building and pick wine...big selection, very reasonably priced. The antipasto was an amazing selection including truffle, salumi, goose liver pate, tapenades, cheeses, etc. The owners were charming and brought out crostini for us to sample their new olive oil, pressed that day. Main meals (pastas or meats) were outstanding and beautifully presented. I'd say save room for the desserts (which were great), but that's not likely--you're just going to have to over-eat and enjoy it! This place is out there in the country, but definitely worth the trip.
