We've gone for years for the frozen soups. Our freezer is always stocked with them. Unfortunately we've noticed a significant decrease in the pasta that they put in there. Enough that we are now having to boil some pasta to throw into them... sorta starts to defeat the purpose, especially for what we pay. They are absolutely delicious just very disappointing. This is the best sandwich shop I've ever been to. My bucket list is to eat through their entire sandwich menu but I'm stuck because the Spicy Italian sub and Chicken Riggie sub is so good I just end up ordering one of those. Fairly quick service even on busy days because they have a very large deli staff. Would definitely recommend to friends. read more

This is a great place ! I usually look for authentic Italian "gourmet" stores to be in an older neighborhood and to be well established in an older building. Apparently, Vince's is an offshoot of Lombardi's, in Syracuse, an old school Italian import shop. So, it appears Vince's has great heritage and offers many delights in a more contemporary setting I enjoy imported or ethnic food stores, be they Italian, Asian, Latin, Indian etc... (of any kind really) I consider these stores an opportunity to explore, enjoy, and learn about other cultures. I acquiesce...the Italian food culture is seemingly well known but, there is a great variety to be discovered. It's not all pasta and red sauce ( or gravy...) and pizza. Although I had passed by and intended to visit, I did not stop in until this past week. I should kick myself for not shopping here sooner. Vince's has a deli section, grocery, fresh produce, prepared meals, desserts, homemade pasta, dry imported pasta, gluten free pasta, extensive varieties of olives, olive oils, balsamic vinegars, arancini (stuffed rice balls coated with breadcrumbs and fried), ricotta cheesecakes, multiple coffees, espressos, bacala (salt cod) ... whew...I could go on but I can't list it all but, it seems to be all there. They also have kitchen equipment: ravioli presses, pasta machines, etc.. Quello che una selezione! Vince's has a great deli section with a great variety of Italian meats and prices are reasonable based on the quality. I was impressed by their aging large provolone by hanging in their deli section. I haven't seen that in the Syracuse area at all. The deli section makes subs to order and meat and cheeses are freshly cut every time. The bread is a very good quality Italian bread. The service was excellent, efficient and responded very easily to my questions. Vince's has a small seating area so, one can eat, self service style, in a clean pleasant environment. The search for sandwiches lives on. A friend and fellow yelper kept telling me of the sandwiches at this location knowing that I am a huge fan of fresh sandwiches. You'd never really expect that a fantastic sandwich hides behind the storefront of this location, while its a beautiful store front nicely designed to fit its Italian and Mediterranean roots. Driving by, I wouldn't say "Hey! I bet they have lunch here." It looks like it's just one of those niche import grocery shoppes. So when you walk in again you don't get the feeling its gonna be a sandwich place. But if you head to the very back of the store where the deli counter is you are greeted with a menu with a plethora of options including a rotating daily special and Wednesday's are pasta day and Friday fish. I actually needed to go grocery shopping after lunch and needed some panchetta for a dinner, so this actually worked out perfect. I decided I'd try one of their regular offerings something they call a "Toscano" which is ham, mozzarella and sun dried tomatoes. And also a side of their fried ravioli which I got the meat variety, But they are also offered in cheese and "stromboli". The sandwich was fantastic, served on a nice hard shell hoagie roll that had nice chew and good flavor, the ham was basic but fresh sliced, good quality fresh sliced deli mozzarella, but what made the sandwich have great flavor were the copious amounts of sun dried tomato that just soaked itself into the roll. Not sure if those are made in house or if its just a good quality import product from the shelf. But definitely made it a good sandwich. My issue lies with the fried ravioli. I'm fairly certain they are frozen from a supplier by house the taste and texture was, and they are par cooked so when they are fried it made the edges of the pasta so hard, I literally hurt my tooth trying to bite into it. of the five that I got, not a single one was actually fully edible, it was impossible to bite into and chew. Also the marinara was very acidic and kind of watery, Not really a fault but definitely not to my taste. All in all a excellent lunch stop that you wouldn't really expect to be there, tasty sandwiches are regularly turned out as well as specials that I've been told are really well done 95% of the time. Plus if you have a need for some random Mediterranean ingredients for that recipe you've been meaning to try. There is a friendly staff and decent prices ready to help you out. read more

Hidden gem just outside of Syracuse. Greeted as soon as I walked in. People were very friendly and helpful. True Italian Market. Huge selection of Italian foods, meats and cheeses! I got the hot chicken parm sandwich. It was very busy during lunch but service was quick. Food was plentiful and delicious. Sandwich came with a side of salad options. I chose the pasta salad. Everything made fresh in house. Sandwich was very flavorful and filling. I actually took half of it home because I couldn't finish it. Highly recommend! read more

I hesitate to write this review, only because the lines are currently manageable and I fear the more the word spreads, the more waits will increase. In all seriousness, this place has the best subs and sandwiches in CNY hands down. Creative sandwich ingredients/flavor combination is outstanding. My go-to is the Modena sub but the other day I got the panini that included a piece of fried chicken wedged between tomato pie and pressed into the tastiest sandwich I've ever had. I was disappointed in my decision to only get the half sandwich. Next time, I'll get the whole. Delish. Side note, my wife and I have taken a cooking class and had a blast (and learned a great dish too). We want to take another but they sell out quickly. And ditto on what everyone else has said. This place is a treasure trove of interesting and tasty delicacies. Not to be missed!! read more

Had a chance to try one of the subs. The place is quite unassuming on the main drag of the village of north Syracuse. They have a store and the deli is in back with tables in the front. I can only speak of the deli. They have a wide range of choices for subs. I ended up getting the campania sub. It's prosciutto, tomato, mozzarella with pesto and oil. It was great. Ate at one of the tables up front. Very tasty and fast service. The place was busy as it was around lunch time but if you're ever in the area check it out. There is definitely a lot of parking even though it seemed busy enough. Next time I'll have to try some of the salads. read more

I was reading some of the reviews and I have to tell you I go to this store every couple weeks to shop. I have never had anything but fast excellent customer service from the meat counter and check out. You can not beat the products , pasta, cheeses, meats, risotto balls, greens, tomatoes from Italy... I could go on and on. Thank God for this store and their wonderful employees. I have brought many people there and they also love it. I also love their cooking classes. Grab a bag of meatballs for your sauce, they beat everyone's. read more

I have been here for lunch 4 or 5 times and each time has been excellent. My 2 favorite sandwiches are the Calabrese and the Modena. They both are delicious. The dressings they use on these sandwiches are awesome. The Calabrese has a spicy soppressata but it's the perfect amount of hot. The ingredients used here are all imported and good. I have also tried their arancini or rice balls for non-Italians. They are very good as well. My favorite it the sausage and red pepper flavored ones. The grocery store there has a variety of Italian groceries. Great meats and cheeses. I look forward to trying more things here in the future. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICES I have ordered some Italian cookies from this store that were shipped to me in Los Angeles. They sent a pack of expired cookies and two packs of the wrong cookies. I contacted them three times and never got a reply of any kind. I would NOT recommend purchasing from Vince's Gourmet Imports online if you expect any decent customer service. read more

Agree with Greg W.'s comment -- I am new to the area and as a fan of and regular shopper at imported food stores (of any kind really), I was surprised to not have even heard of Vince's until this weekend. It's a large and clean specialty foods store that definitely deserves to have a higher profile. Great quality Italian products (lovely deli counter where I found porchetta!), large selection of interesting items you never even suspected existed for sale (ex: canned escargot packaged together with a dozen cleaned snail shells you can use for an impressive presentation at home), and the obligatory coffee- and baking-related accoutrements (so that I can replace the silicone gaskets of my stove-top espresso maker or buy a whole new one in different design or size). Can't speak to their remote customer service, but in the store everyone was very helpful and attentive and even though we spent a fair amount of time just browsing (before ultimately filling two baskets of goodies), a staff member approached us in the aisles with a sample of their fresh-cooked arancini in marinara sauce. I don't imagine I will buy a lot of their made-from-scratch frozen meals, but judging from this sample, the chefs there also know what they are doing. There is a little cafe in the store where I might go to try more of the pastries as well. All in all -- wonderful place, with lots of finds for the home gourmet and ideas for presents for her loved ones. (I imagine this applies only more so if you have a personal connection to Italy, which I do not.) read more

Came in recently with my pal, looking fir a sandwich fir dinner and one the next day for lunch. We each ordered 2 Lombardia subs. The sandwich were authentic itralian and were very enjoyable. I did come in 10 min before closing. Cashier was nice enough. He took care of us. What I didnt need was the attitude of the sandwich maker. We had never been there and asked fir suggestions. Thinking he would say this is very popular or many people enjoy that one.Instead he says I never eat at the place I work. Bad business practice so, I cannot recommend anything and he had an attitude. He evidently didnt want to make 4 sandwiches 10 minutes before closing and was unhappy we took a few minutes to decide before ordering. Well if you dont like it pal, Dont work in the service business! This place could be 5 stars but Im subtracting two for bad employees. And though Im still in NY Im not in that area anymore and dont plan to go there again. read more

Really first rate. We got their red sauce, meatballs, frozen fettuccini, and grated parm for a traditional pre-Boilermaker dinner. The red sauce and meatballs knocked it out of the park. Fettuccini cooked up al dente and had that meaty texture that goes well with the sauce. We are fans of red sauce/meatballs from Mario & Salvo's in Dewitt, and Roma's in Utica. This stuff was fully on par. Great takeout, great selection of sauces, pastas, meatballs, meats. Very nice people. A real winner. Go. read more

Surprised that this place isn't getting some love. This is owned by the same family as Lombardi Fruit & Imports and has a great variety of imported products including the best selection of olive oils that I've seen in the area. I've found my new lunch destination in Vince's Gourmet Imports. I really love this place. They have a great menu of subs and Panini's you really can't find anywhere else. I got the Marche which is Cajun turkey, smoked Gouda and fresh sliced apples with a chipotle cranberry mayo, on a hot Panini. It was fantastic. I like how clean and organized this place is. I like seeing people who look like they genuinely enjoy their work instead of putting on a show, and I especially like how the owner is out there with the rest of the employees helping out. Vince's is a fine small local business that has a lot of things to like with something for everyone. I hope this shop enjoys a great future in this area as it fills a void in a quality gourmet shopping experience. read more
