Chris at FlexTax has been my tax advisor for about three years now, and I can't recommend him…read morehighly enough. He's incredibly thorough and detail-oriented - he double and even triple checks everything to make sure your return is accurate and that he has all the right information. He's also very responsive and flexible with scheduling, which has made it easy to fit tax meetings around a busy workday. Chris really shines with more complex situations. He specializes in startups and equity compensation (ISOs, RSUs, etc.), as well as investment portfolios, so if you work at a startup or have a more complicated tax situation, you're in great hands. He takes the time to walk through everything, explains complex issues clearly, and makes the whole process feel much less stressful. He goes above and beyond by looking at prior years and making amendments if necessary to put you in a better position for future tax years. I originally started working with Chris based on a friend's recommendation, and after three years as a client, I'm very glad I did. If you're a startup employee or founder, or anyone dealing with equity and investments, I highly recommend Chris at FlexTax.

This firm went from exceptional to completely unprofessional overnight…read more I stayed with them for years solely because of Sam, who provided outstanding service. After the ownership change, it's clear that level of care is gone. What replaced it is a rigid, impersonal system that treats clients like transactions rather than relationships. They failed to notify clients of a major policy change regarding tax extensions until just days before the deadline--putting me at risk of non-compliance. When I raised concerns, their response was essentially: "This is our policy now, and if you don't like it, go somewhere else." No accountability. No attempt to fix the situation. No access to leadership. Just scripted responses from a support team. For a firm that benefited from years of loyalty and referrals, this is an incredibly poor way to treat clients. Avoid. UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO OWNER : Your response proves my point. After years of automatically handling my extensions, you changed the process right before a deadline, offered no real support, and told me to pay $240 or figure it out myself. Had I not followed up, I could have been penalized -- and now you're trying to turn it around and frame it as my fault by calling me "not engaged." After years of loyalty and referrals, this wasn't a transition -- it was a downgrade to a transactional model.

I plan to continue working with Melissa as she has been helpful with tax saving strategies as my life situation changes.

Welp. I'm updating my review because I wrote the review yesterday. She emailed me with the copy of…read morethe 2024 as I requested, but 12 hours after she said she sent it to me. (I checked my spam and mentioned that i will hadn't received it.) She was kind and considerate, until I said that I was at a wedding and couldn't respond. I am now pretty shaken about the exchange I had. You can judge for yourself if you want her for your CPA. I tried to delete my review, but I was met with an error message. To be clear, I never asked her for a refund for what I paid her for her services. I never said quoting a price was illegal. I'm not sure why she said that, honestly. I think people that receive a service should be paid in full, which I did. I wasn't trying to skirt out of any payment. I was going to edit my entire review. Instead, I'm trying to delete a review at almost 1 in the morning because of this exchange I received and it completely ruined my whole night and happy wedding/celebratory mood and replaced it with unnecessary stress because she wanted the review removed before 3am.

Fair point -- I went back to the attorney who drafted it, had them add my name in the body, and confirmed the document complied with California notary law . Came back later in the day with the revised document. Rudy looked at it and said "something seems off." That was the entire explanation. No identification of what was off, no specific provision he objected to, no questions about my ID or the underlying transaction. Just refused. Took the same document to another commissioned California notary that same day. They reviewed it, verified my ID, administered the oath, and notarized it without any issue. Two visits, two trips back to my attorney for revisions he requested, and ultimately a vague refusal with no actionable feedback. A notary's job is to verify identity and witness an oath. If specific concerns exist, communicate them clearly so they can be addressed. "Something seems off" after you've already made the customer revise the document once isn't professional -- it's wasting their time.

This review is a little long overdue but my experience is a very positive one…read more We worked with Javier after contacting the business through yelp. I was provided with a quote after saying the service we needed. The price was reasonable and there were no surprise charges. They don't make appointments because they are a walk in service only. Nonetheless, it was a very smooth process. We basically sat there, small talked, and we were finished in less than 30 minutes. No major time consuming financial questions were ask because we provided all necessary documentation. After all the information was added, we confirmed all of our information. The best part about our experience was the knowledge we gained from working with someone like Javier. We were unsure of how our responses on tax forms made a difference in our return so for Javier to make sense of that us was worth it. We anticipate returning this upcoming tax season, and I would recommend anyone who is unsure about taxes give this place a try.

We're now left with very little time to find a replacement and we'll probably lose a lot of money as a result of this surprise from them. Facts: we agreed to work together at the start of this year. They shared a portal for us to upload docs into. It took us a few weeks to get started uploading those docs but we're still within their purported time-frame in mid-February. We had some access issues that, for myself, they fixed; that was not fixed for my wife and we had to bug them several times in the last week before our scheduled tax prep meeting. They then reached out to me, saying that they can no longer work with us and that they'll delete all the files I uploaded to their vault. When I asked them why, they did not respond.

After an initial apt weeks went by for very basic things and I was calling or emailing every few days in a panic as the deadline to file quickly approached. Eventually an extension had to be requested when all needed documents had been completed in Feb. The back and forth email and call correspondence was time consuming and ridiculous. We kept having to reach out to check the status and after weeks would get a response to schedule yet another appointment. Not personable, not friendly, poor communication. They likely take on too many clients because they care about profit over people.
