Took a clock in this morning to have the movement removed so that I could get to the front inside of the clock to to a repair to a separate mechanism, but the older gentleman at the counter was not helpful at all, kept shaking his head "no" when I asked him to help me, said he didn't want to get involved in the work I needed done and would not give me a reference to another shop who might be able to help me. I bought my grandfather clock from Vin Acco in 1996, and it still looks great! the music sounds like it's playing backwards, but I don't play it much anyway. when I bought my first house in 1996, my clock was the first piece of furniture I bought, so I had a gold plate put inside with my name and the year and new home. Wow! I just had the best experience with this company. My mom has a vintage Japanese Seiko clock that has an alarm and plays a tune. There are a few adjustment knobs missing and hoped they could help me with. Now here is where it gets interesting. I talked to Mike and he told me that my best bet would be to call a Seiko authorized repair station who only deal with Seikos. The information for their number can be googled. He also added that there are so many types of Seiko clocks that I would need to find and give them the model number which I was able to find with his help on the back. Never has a business who couldn't do what I primarily was asking if they could do, give me so much help in pointing me to the solution. No profit motive there, but yet he did this. In this day and age it is such a rarity that I immediately got off the phone with them to write this. Also, I know he is right in that there are so many models of clocks even with the same name. Hers is a Melodia Gold and after spending almost 2 hours trying to find the exact one, I was unsuccessful. Mike and his son Andrew run this business. We love VinAcco and Mike! He's serviced our Herschede grandfather clock since it was purchased in mid 70's. Mike understands the intricate workings of these older clocks better than anyone in the Cincinnati area. Don't allow someone to work on your clock if they aren't experienced. They can damage your clock beyond repair. - love hearing Mike's son is learning the trade so we have someone in town we trust when Mike decides to no longer make these house calls. Had a clock our grandfather actually made. We spent $300 to have it fixed and clock still isn't working. This man's voicemail is always full. He has Inconvenient "office" hours because he says he's doing house calls but won't come to West Chester to do the call and won't make himself available after 4. We inherited a grandfather clock from my mother-in-law which was about 25 years old and had been moved three times. It had never been serviced. For a while after we got it a year ago, it just ran a little slow, but then two of the weights stopped lowering. I was afraid it was beyond hope. We called Vin Acco and the very nice man who answered said to be prepared, that it would be 3-5 weeks before Mr. Accurso could come. We were pleasantly surprised when, a couple days later, he called and left a message that he could come the next morning at 8:00, and that I should call and confirm on his answering machine. At 8:00 sharp, he arrived. When he took it apart, he was very careful to lay the component parts on a towel as he worked. It was obvious he was an expert. At a couple points, he put his ear next to the side of the clock to listen for the proper engagement. It is now running perfectly, and it was just the reasonable cost of the service call. I chatted with him, and learned that he has been doing this work for 45 years, and it was his father's business before. That company has been in that location for 95 years. I said, "Should I have this serviced once a year?"--and I would have happily done it--and he replied, "Oh, no. That's too often. This oil we use is so good, you can go a couple years. How's that for honesty. Completely satisfied. read more

One word: TERRIBLE. I had to call this guy multiple times just to get him to confirm on a in -house service call to set up a grandfather clock that had been in storage. Once he finally did confirm for a month out he never showed up! I called back again and he said he had no record of my service call and he would come out the next day. When he arrived the following morning he was an old, grouchy man. Had nothing but negative things to say about my 102-year-old clock. Then when he was done I asked how much it would be and he said he didn't know and I would get a bill in the mail. I was not OK with this, I had no idea how much the bill was going to be since he said he had to do "extra" service to the clock and when I questioned him he got more agitated and said he had to leave for another call. Fast forward a month later I finally get the bill in the mail and it's $40 more than what I was told it would be when I called originally. At this point I didn't care, I just wanted to be done with this man. So I sent a check in the mail a month and a half ago and guess what, he still has NOT cashed the stupid check. NEVER AGAIN, this guy and his business is HORRIBLE. read more

Worst Costumer Service ever experienced! Hope you don't work, and that you live next to his shop. Although he does house calls...probably not your house if you are more than 10 minutes away. You need to schedule for a house call if you work though, because he is only open until 3 o'clock three days a week, because he is too busy doing house calls? All that being said, I took my mantle clock in to get fixed, picked it up and paid for it. Get home and the clock still doesn't work. He cashed the check quickly, and now months later he still says it is my problem to get the clock to his shop. I asked for my money back, but he won't refund because he guarantees his warrantee. But he isn't open, and won't make a house calls to my neighborhood. So hence...it will likely never get fixed and I guess that would make him a thief? Your call...but I highly recommend you try to find another company. It is time for him to close his doors and retire. read more
