I waited several minutes and finally someone came out to restock something then went right back in. Um, ok ? Obviously, customer service could use some improvements. Finally someone came to take my order. He was nice but unenthusiastic... as if he could not wait to leave. (It was noon) There were no other customers in the restaurant. I got a slice and it was wimpy crust. I asked for it to be heated again, but that just burned the cheese and didn't crisp it. Oh well. Tired and hangry from a long day at work. I'm craving for good old spaghetti. That's my comfort food. Decided to stop in. It's pretty quiet in the dining area for a Friday..However, their take out is extremely busy. Cooper was my waiter. He's nice with great customer service and check on me often. I ordered the special: which is the pepper and onions with spaghetti sauce. Comes with two Italian sausages and filled with peppers and onions. And because it's a special., The portion was perfect for me for dinner. I included the house salad with ranch which is ok. You can tell salads are NOT their speciality. Now do understand, this restaurant do not serve beer or any alcohol. I was looking forward to a beer after a long day.. But that's ok. I can't have it all. Same as my previous visits. Food are great. But since I dined in. It was even better. I walked away paying $15 for dinner. And honestly, I can't tell you when was the last time I paid that for a sit down dinner. Have eaten at this establishment for years with no issues in service, food or anything. But, tonight my wife ordered for five people at 5:15 in the evening. We didn't receive our food until 6:35, and we live less than a Mile away!!! My wife called twice to try and find out when the food would be delivered after waiting for an hour, after being told that the food would be delivered within the hour. After waiting over an hour we called and asked for a manager, and were told by the young lady that she was one of the managers! When we finally received the food, naturally, it was cold and cold pizza and cold spaghetti is not what we paid for! I am not sure what happened tonight. I was looking forward to a second great Village Pizza. I perfected the recipe and called an order to go. Look at the pics...a perfect pizza. All of these toppings were on my first pizza and were excellent. This time...not so much. There was a dominate flavor on this pizza that was very off putting. Bad enough that I tossed half the pizza away. There was a flavor that should not be present with topping that included Pep, Ham, Salami, Beef, Onions, and Olives. As I type this message the taste pains me to have to describe. My first experience was amazing. The taste in my mouth right now makes me think that I won't be back. It really is that bad. I have eaten here a few times in the past and had good experiences. Tonight when I went, I placed the order 25 minutes before arriving and when I got there I waited another 30 minutes and my food still was not ready. People came in before me and after me and received their food, but I had nothing. The young lady at the front desk kept saying it's coming right out and it never came. I had to end up canceling my order and going elsewhere. I was not going to support his business anymore after the above incident, but I have been back twice since then and the customer service has been excellent. How hard is it to make a sub correctly? It's not a culinary masterpiece. This place used to be great and our regular Friday night spot to order from but after our delivery orders were consistently wrong we stopped. Well, we foolishly gave them another chance and low and behold the order showed up wrong. When we called to let them know we were told we ordered wrong (didn't know there was a right & wrong way to order a sandwich) and they did offer to give us a free sub the next time we order, however, these were our dinner plans and the kids were hangry NOW, not next time. So after being scolded for our "incorrect ordering", being told it would take a long time for another one and then reading the menu to them so it would be made correctly the second time around, we sit here and wait for dinner. I ordered lasagna, chicken tenders, fries, grilled chicken salad. Packaging The lasagna came in a plastic container--the bowl was black, the top was clear. This was in a plain brown paper bag with the receipt stapled to the bag. The chicken tenders came in white styrofoam container. The salad was in a clear container with a "9/4" date scribbled on a piece of masking tape. These items were in a white plastic bag. Food Appearance The lasagna looked weird. The sauce was super dark. The noodles were black. The lasagna was more sauce than anything. The cheese on top looked fresh. It looked like the lasagna was made awhile ago. The chicken tenders were square and flat. They looked like the a low end brand from the grocery store. They looked cold. The salad didn't look fresh nor appetizing. The grilled chicken on the salad looked old and dry. Taste The lasagna tasted weird. It wasn't the best nor the worst. I've had better and can cook lasagna much better. The sauce wasn't good. The chicken tenders tasted freezer burn. They tasted like they had already been made. They didn't have much flavor. The salad was ok--I ate the iceberg lettuce and few pieces of chicken and picked over most of it because the tomatoes and bell pepper didn't look good. The tomatoes were not bright and fresh. Originally I was going to De Marcos but they were closed for painting. So I headed across the street to see what else was available and Yelp pulled up this place. Since I was in the mood for a buffet I said "Why not?" I had been here years before and it was a sad pathetic business on its last legs. But when I came in the door they had bright vibrant colors and the table cloths had glass covers. It's all counter service but they do everything very well. The pizza was hot fresh and hand tossed. The salad bar was well stocked and it even had chocolate pudding. I had read several negative reviews about this place but I think those helpers are either snobs or were having a bad day. They were hard & crunchy like raw bell peppers. Called Village Pizza & explained to them how the pizza looked. They gave a lame story/explanation of why it was like that. They had no compassion really for what I was saying or how disappointed I felt about this pizza. They never once offered a manager! Well for $40 worth of pizza that I was disappointed in, we could have just ordered regular Pizza Hut or Domino's Pizza. We will not be returning here to eat pizza.
