When I saw this in the distance I asked if we could come here. I have seen videos and stories about how magical one of these places are. I was not disappointed upon entry. I can't explain it, but this place was clean. I don't mean all neat and tidy, what I mean is that it was bright, welcoming, and white, almost to the point of feeling sterile. However, don't take that as a negative. It was different to be in a store and not feel like you were dirty. The brightness of this place drew me in. I wanted to shop. I also did not feel lost in the least. I would be in a department and have an item in mind and be in front of options in minutes. What I really liked about this is how the grocery store portion of this place wrapped around other departments. Like it meshes in with the store and doesn't overpower your experience. It also did not put a hard divide in the store where you needed to switch modes to shop. I could hop over to the hard lines and grab what I needed right after throwing a bag of cheese into my cart and then go right back to the groceries with ease. I was pleasantly surprised with this store and now I'm a bit envious of those that get to call this your neighborhood market.

I don't own a restaurant but the careful shopper can find deals on larger items like frozen "family size" dinners and find a wider variety than you'll likely see in chain grocery stores. My suggestion is to browse the store slowing using a shopping cart. If you're good at pricing choose items that you use, that aren't necessarily perishable and notice the larger sizes. Be careful, everything isn't a "value." You'll find an "island" of deli meats & cheeses that is quite extensive, in larger quantities, poultry, pork & beef as well with whole chickens, selected parts, ground beef, roasts and more. They also have seasonal fruit & vegetables that are quite tasty when allowed to ripen properly. Frozen deserts are excellent, try the Chef Pierre Hi-Pie selection out of frozen foods. And the cheesecake selection is to die for. If you're entertaining they also have a great selection of vegetable & cheese/meat trays available and a wide variety of dips. Also, when entertaining or having backyard BBQ's GFS has a very good selection of plates & plastic utensils all high quality. Plastic "Solo" cups, cocktail glasses, even wine & champagne vessels. As I said, learn the store, make it fit your needs & lifestyle. Go back and teach yourself how to carefully shop & you'll most likely succeed in obtaining high quality products at value prices in the bulk to semi-bulk category. Excellent for large families. I don't recommend GFS to replace your other grocery shopping venues but to enhance them and to widen your ability to save money particularly if your a budget conscious & careful shopper. This location was really weird. The set up was kind of in dysfunction. When you are funneled into the store you are kind of spit out into this area where it was a mishmash of items. Can't really give it a department name, as it was a mix of items from fireworks to tea towels. My Dad scurried off and went into the depths of the store before my brother and I left the mishmash area. We were able to locate him before we paid for our purchases and tell him we were going to head outside. I had a small bag and then went on my way outside to wait for dear old Dad to come out with more bags than my brother and I had combined.

Asked if they knew how to cut Korean style beef short ribs. Yes they do. They don't have the bone in kind, but will custom cut them for you, and hand them over. They look great. Just enough fat for tenderness and flavor. Gonna marinate them for a bit in some soy, sesame oil, garlic, pear juice and lime juice. THEN cook them over lump hardwood charcoal. Looking forward to this. I know I will be a steady customer. Homemade sausage, kielbasa, Amish rolled sweet butter, seasonings, really everything you want. There was the time my home girl and I had to kill some time, and ended up falling asleep in my car for several hours in your parking lot. A nap fully complete with blankets I had in my trunk. We slept like babies until our friends woke us up by pounding on the windows. The security guard didn't even give a damn. And the time my friend thought she was pregnant, and my ex and best friend said they'd go in and buy the pee test for her. When they were at the register, the cashier looks my ex in the eyes and says, "Don't worry, sweetheart...It'll be alright." My best friend, only 15 at the time, was pretty mortified :) But the greatest Giant Eagle Moment of All Time: A Vietnam Vet, dressed in complete fatigues and ass kickin' boots, was attempting to pay with a bad check. The cashier said she couldn't accept it. We were behind him in line. He starts going off on the cashier: Vet: "Do you know who the hell I am?!? I'm a fucking veteran of the US Army! You should give me this shit for free!!!" Cashier: "I'm sorry, sir, but this check isn't valid. I can't accept it." Vet: "That is the biggest crock of hooey I've ever heard!" (Insert my accidental burst of laughter here. The Vet turns around as I duck behind the candy display in the next lane, leaving my home girl stranded.) Vet: "What the fuck is so funny?! Do you know who I am?!? I'm a veteran of Viet-fucking-NAM!!" At this point, I grab my friend and we bee-line for another part of the store until security takes care of the issue.
