Went shopping for some much needed items for Thanksgiving dinner. We ventured to another location rather than our local shop because it didn't carry certain necessary items we needed for some recipes. The staff were running around like you'd see on Black Friday making sure shelves were stocked with all the Thanksgiving essentials and yet they were still so helpful and friendly through all the chaos going on. The store itself is amazing! Vast and designed to be an eye pleasing moment the second you enter the doors. The displays and aisle space were better than nice. I was a little jealous my local store wasn't designed as beautifully. However, even though I felt a little guilty cheating on my local Giant Eagle she pulled through with having items this store either didn't carry or was out of. read more

Well, I live in Strongsville Ohio. I shop every week at market district and I absolutely love it. I love curbside pick up. I'm never disappointed. I love the employees. They've never been anything but kind helpful and have a smile on their face every day. I don't know how they do it, but they do. HOWEVER, I ordered Thanksgiving dinner. The turkey was mediocre, the stuffing was not edible. It was actually bitter if that's possible. The potatoes were instant and had no taste. I would say I threw away 85% of the whole thing. You might think, well make your own dinner then, right? Due to physical limitations I was unable to. But the people who ran the Thanksgiving counter, were just as sweet as they could be in a madhouse so oh well for $130 spent lesson learned. read more

Ok, I was just shopping at my local grocery...GIANT EAGLE...now mind you all over the place they are touting how they are striving to save US the consumer, more money in these hard times... So what did the corporate office do to SHOW us how concerned they are with saving us money? Bought every employee there....in every store of this multi-state store....NEW BRIGHT YELLOW TEE SHIRTS AND BASEBALL CAPS!! Sure they have the stores new buzz phrase about how they are putting forth so much effort to reduce prices on them. Good use of money eh? Now I am in the clothing industry and the money they put out on these tees, hats, oh and bright yellow signage on every isle, door, and banners on the outside of the store... COST A F***ING LOT OF MONEY!!!! Money I just happen to think might have actually been better used REDUCING THE F***ING PRICES IN THE STORE! If they have all this coin lying around to use on adverts, they should be able to cut the prices to the consumer a bit don't ya think? OH, did I mention? They also bought new shopping carts....with new yellow signs telling us about the great savings to be had in the store! sigh ok, rant ends. Your turn. Just a added note to the above...this is a nation wide chain and they did this promotion at all of them as far as I can tell. I live across the street from a Giant Eagle and so it is the most convient place to shop and I do quite often...part of what bugs me so much I guess. This used to be my favorite grocery store ever. Though it's over priced. I'm good at couponing and deals so I could make it reasonable. Very convenient to have a bank, dry cleaning and if your a fan. There is even a Star bucks. The store is clean and well layed out. I love the olive bar. There is a nice salad bar. A hot food bar. You can grab a whole roasted chicken or a nice pot pie. Add a big salad and a side from the hot bar and your family has dinner. The deli is great and used to have this horseradish cheese dip I was crazy about. Go to the meat counter and ask them to make you some black nugget kabobs. If I had Yelp a few years ago before they closed the eagles nest and while Miss Tina and Miss Erika we're still there I would have given 5 stars. read more

Oh, Giant Eagle. Mecca of my late night high school antics. Open 24 hours of the day. Fully stocked aisles complete with a bulk candy bin section. Where do I begin? There was the time my home girl and I had to kill some time, and ended up falling asleep in my car for several hours in your parking lot. A nap fully complete with blankets I had in my trunk. We slept like babies until our friends woke us up by pounding on the windows. The security guard didn't even give a damn. And the time my friend thought she was pregnant, and my ex and best friend said they'd go in and buy the pee test for her. When they were at the register, the cashier looks my ex in the eyes and says, "Don't worry, sweetheart...It'll be alright." My best friend, only 15 at the time, was pretty mortified :) But the greatest Giant Eagle Moment of All Time: A Vietnam Vet, dressed in complete fatigues and ass kickin' boots, was attempting to pay with a bad check. The cashier said she couldn't accept it. We were behind him in line. He starts going off on the cashier: Vet: "Do you know who the hell I am?!? I'm a fucking veteran of the US Army! You should give me this shit for free!!!" Cashier: "I'm sorry, sir, but this check isn't valid. I can't accept it." Vet: "That is the biggest crock of hooey I've ever heard!" (Insert my accidental burst of laughter here. The Vet turns around as I duck behind the candy display in the next lane, leaving my home girl stranded.) Vet: "What the fuck is so funny?! Do you know who I am?!? I'm a veteran of Viet-fucking-NAM!!" At this point, I grab my friend and we bee-line for another part of the store until security takes care of the issue.
