It was closed for service but had some "Gluten Free" cookies in a plastic pint cup under glass protected shelving. I asked to purchase it. The cashier retrieved it from the glass case, put it in a bag, and rang me up. I immediately ate two of the dry cookies from the bag in my car as I was very hungry. I did not take the container out to look at it as I had seen the sign in the store "Gluten Free" and that was what I needed. After I got home, my husband was shocked at what was on the label!! I am still shocked!! I had not eaten any seed oils or preservative laced foods for years. However, unwittingly, now I have filled my body with trashy unhealthy ingredients!! The label on the 'Sinfully Gluten Free' is sinfully full of very unhealthy additives! Shocking! Truly unbelievable for anything remotely associated with a health food store!! Recently, I have encountered usual responses from a few UDF staff, however, nothing super serious! Tuesday, I purchase a cappuccino that was exceptionally weak and tasteless! I had noticed spurts of clear water but decided to take a chance anyway! I did mention my concern to the cashier as I exited the store. After several sips, expecting the flavor to eventually come through, I decided to return inside to again make staff aware of the problem! Was told very impolitely by a staff member, who checked machine, that that's just the way it's going to be because there was no problem with the machine. I thought her remarks were rather strange since no fault of my own, I had experienced a problem! As she closed the machine, insisting it was ok... I decided to 'top off' my cup, in hopes the adjustment would correct my problem, perhaps! As I walked up to the cashier, expecting some apology for the inconvenience, a cashier named Krishner, chimed in to inform me that I owed .99 because I had refilled my cup! I was so stunned I was actually speechless! I had added less than 2 ozs. to the cup! She repeated herself several times, by this time causing other patrons in the store to view me as a potential 'troublemaker'! Again, I was stunned that 2 staff members would go to such a length to make a spectacle of the situation! The staff person who checked the machine, derogatorily, stated that I wouldn't have to pay this time but if it happened again... I would be charge! It was as if I were to be considered a criminal! I am an 80 year old retired educator who has no need of a free cup of coffee at UDF's expense nor do I deserve a cashier to 'scold' me publicly for 2 ozs of cappuccino! What is our world coming to? I guess I should be banned from frequenting a store outside of my supposedly neighborhood! My heart breaks for such uncaring young people who pride themselves for feeling 10 feet tall when in actuality they have chosen to stoop very low! They seem to care about the customer more than any of the chain stores. It's common to see employees carrying and carting groceries to customers' cars. It's becoming rare to see that kind of thing as more chains take over. They are willing to give you their attention and time. Inside it looks like a classic small grocery store, with friendly employees. The selection is simpler but you can find most of what you need. Though it's a small store it has some good selection. Especially the beer and liquor. They also have employees who can help you.
