The size of this charming spot does limit its collection somewhat, but it's still rather well curated. Optimal for a quick browse and find a summer read or nice gift for a friend or to kill a bit of time on a cloudy lake day. I found quality gifts for family in my two visits here--both in the popular or literary book vein as well as local interest books. The charm of shopping for books in a log cabin or perusing a sale rack on the deck is just off the charts. The selection is good but a bit limited by the spot's real estate. I personally kind of wish so much of the store wasn't dedicated to kid's books/gifts--the setting feels more appropriate to the mature literature--but I can understand the choice. Owner is very friendly and happy to chat about book recs or the region. Only weekend hours during the off season, and will be closing for the winter but opening again for the spring.

They have a section of used books for a lower price along with a cafe. They even sell records. They also have a cafe. I did not get a chance to visit it since I was happily overwhelmed by all the books. The third floor has the children's section which has colorful decorations, as well as cards, trinkets, journals, and vinyls for sale. Northshire has friendly employees who were very helpful. I am pleased to report they have a large used book section on the second floor. I will definitely be visiting this charming place more often!

They have these wonderful couches that invite you to sit down, relax, and get lost in a good book for a while before deciding what to take home. You could spend quite a few hours jumping from place to place. Any book lovers doing so should stop in here! They had a huge variety of genres including a second story with additional genres of books. While my wife is definitely the bigger reader out of us two, I did think it had a lot of newer releases as well as plenty of classics if that's more your style. It is set up in a well organized manner and when my wife checked out with her book selection the worker was friendly. This was also evident by some other interactions we saw them have with other patrons locating specific books. They instantly knew where to grab the book they were looking for. Showed they were knowledgeable of the store. My wife almost ended up with two books but in the end only grabbed one, but I am sure if we stayed longer we would have grabbed more.
