I came here with my mom on my first visit 20 minutes before closing time. Since we knew our time here was limited, we asked for help for very specific areas of the store, and we were each guided to the sections we wanted. Besides hardcover books, there are several sections with softcover books including (but not limited to) mysteries and current fiction. There are also chairs in various locations (at least upstairs). Some sections also have better magazines (for example, the cookbook section has a selection of "Gourmet" magazines). This is a great place for a bibliophile to get lost for a few hours. I intend to do just that next time I'm here.

The selection is wonderfully curated and thoughtfully organized, making it easy to discover new reads or track down something specific. The staff has always been super helpful, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about books. Beyond the shelves, the store also has a great selection of unique gifts and an absolutely fantastic children's section that's worth exploring even if you don't have kids in tow. In our opinion, this is probably the best bookstore in all of New York State outside of NYC. It's a place that feels loved, well cared for, and deeply connected to its community. They also have a cafe. I did not get a chance to visit it since I was happily overwhelmed by all the books. The third floor has the children's section which has colorful decorations, as well as cards, trinkets, journals, and vinyls for sale. Northshire has friendly employees who were very helpful. I am pleased to report they have a large used book section on the second floor. I will definitely be visiting this charming place more often!
