I called a week and a half ago letting them know that I'll be in town and would like a refund for the credit that I have. A receptionist confirmed that I did, indeed, have a credit and that it was for an IV package. She talked to the manager and told me that, not only can they not provide me a refund, but I can come in to redeem the credit for only one IV session since their prices went up. I was upset by this because it's not like I was asking for a refund for a service I was unhappy with, but for a credit that I clearly cannot use since my move. I explained to her that I had paid cash for the promotion that didn't come with any stipulations. I didn't sign anything and the person who sold it to me didn't tell me about any rules that came along with the promotion. The receptionist danced around the best she could, explaining to me that "most people usually use the service within a year" and offered me a vitamin B shot instead, which is worth less than an IV session...I declined and asked to speak to the manager, but, of course, she told me that they were unavailable. I asked that the manager please call me back later that day to discuss this matter further and left my number. I still, to this day, have not heard back from anyone. To me, this is pretty piss poor service and unprofessional. They basically are ignoring me so that they don't have to pay me the $380 back. It's not like it's $20. This is a big chunk of money that they've held on to and collected interest on. Debating whether or not a small claims court is worth it, but definitely spreading the word so that customers don't get bamboozled like I did.

Well, now here in San Diego, we have the new San Diego Stem Cell Treatment Center. Their website noted that "since 2013, top orthopedic surgeons have been using stem cell therapy to treat patients suffering from arthritis and other orthopaedic conditions." This is the first step in utilizing stem cells for health purposes, while more clinical research is done to see how to treat more complex illnesses like cancer and muscular dystrophy. SD Stem Cell Treatment Center now offers to treat hip, knee, shoulder or back pain by utilizing your own stem cells with minimally invasive procedures. (Probably big needles.) The website states that "Stem cell treatment offers the potential for millions of viable mesenchymal stem cells to differentiate into normal healing tissues and can be injected into painful joints, around painful tendons and ligaments and given as an IV for systemic use." Their stem cell treatments are done on Friday afternoons, which I figure, allows for the patient to use their weekend to rest and recover from the procedure. I called today and asked about what insurance, if any, this new business accepts as I would love some stem cells in my arthritic knees. Unfortunately, and the reason for deducting 1 YELP STAR for this business, is that it is CASH ONLY. And just to begin the treatment process costs $8,000. Which sounds like money well spent but I might have to wait until I hit the lottery to start the stem cells flowing.

My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. He immediately identified a significant change on my recent MRI compared to my previous imaging--something that could clearly explain my rapidly increasing pain. His attention to detail and clinical insight were impressive, but what truly sets him apart is his integrity and honesty. Instead of recommending a procedure at his own practice, he referred me to his former colleague who specializes in the treatment that would be most beneficial for me right now, even though he could not perform it himself. That level of selflessness and patient-first care is incredibly rare in medicine. The facility itself is excellent--very clean, modern, and welcoming. The staff is extremely friendly and professional, and you feel comfortable and cared for from the moment you walk in. I also truly believe in what they are doing there; they are clearly focused on the most up-to-date procedures and technology, and it shows in how knowledgeable and forward-thinking the team is. I will absolutely be back there in the future, but I am genuinely grateful that Dr. Evangelista sent me to the right place for my immediate needs at the time. That speaks volumes about his character and commitment to doing what is best for his patients. Dr. Evangelista truly takes the time to think through each patient's situation, explain options, and guide you through difficult decisions with empathy and clarity.
