A pleasant villa offering event space, located In Coconut Grove. Here is some information regarding this villa. The rustic splendor and modern charm of Villa Woodbine wasn't created overnight. In fact, our Miami, FL event venue boasts a storied history. This historic mansion was built in the 1930s for Mr. and Mrs. Charles Boyd as their winter home away from the Wisconsin cold. As the owner of the Appleton Paper Company, Mr. Boyd spared no expense when it came to his residence. The estate passed to the Boyds' daughter Martha in 1948, but it proved too difficult to visit when her children reached school age. They began leasing the property, and in the 1960s, the home became the site where the Bay of Pigs invasion was planned. Today, Bill and Terry Hansen lease the property and share its beauty with the community. They've hosted thousands of weddings, corporate events, and even celebrities, including Michael Jordan, Usher, the late author Ann Rice, Regis Philbin, and Kathy Lee Gifford and her late husband Frank Gifford. read more

I was so excited to visit this venue as a 2024 bride but I was very disappointed. The pictures on Instagram were a DREAM but again... not like the pictures at all. The venue is obviously an old home that has been transformed into a venue... but I use the word transformer lightly. It was quite dirty, the space for dancing was in a hallway? The groom "suit" was a dingy room with a mirror on the floor. If you are looking for an antique unique place this is the spot but honestly not at all what it looks like on insta. Invited here for cocktails and dinner as it was part of the conference I was attending. First off any venue in Coconut Grove you know will be fabulous and I am going. As I drive up heading South it is located on the west side of the road across from the Bay. I pull in and there is a valet located to the back side of the property. As I enter it is true old Coconut Grove with gorgeous natural landscaping and out door lighting. There is a building and courtyard as well as a large tent that is used for the outdoor dining portion of the evening. So we start with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. I stayed with the sparking rose champagne it was terrific. As for the hors d'oeuvres they were well presented and great variety. Please note due to the dim lightning my lack of photos tbough personally I love the ambiance of the evening. As for dinner it was buffet style not my favorite choice given the large size of the group. Food for the buffet was not great. Yuca fries were cold which is my fave no bueno. At $400 + a ticket they could have done better. But I definitely would come back as I am not sure that they control the food only the venue which is 5 star all the way. read more

Improvements could be made for the lack of some paved parking as well as limited bathroom availability for larger events. We were recently in Miami and attended a wedding at the Villa Woodbine. This venue was so awesome and so memorable. It was the perfect space for the wedding ceremony, followed by cocktails and appetizers in the courtyard, followed by a very nice dinner, and eventually dancing and fun. A really nice space that is comfortable for all of the events of the evening. Ashley and Danielle were really professional, helpful, and a delight to work with to coordinate the wedding. read more

My husband and I recently attended a mid-April wedding at Villa Woodbine and we loved the space! The venue felt very "Italian" vineyard to us - like a romantic, garden estate. The house had a cool set up - we had fun during the cocktail hour - and the garden where the wedding and then the reception took place was very romantic, homey. It was much different then a hotel wedding venue space and we loved it! My only negative comments: during the wedding reception, they were preparing the tables for the reception. I wish they would have put up screens or a sheet or something so you wouldn't see this. I saw one of the gentlemen taking his break, smoking a cigarette (and I don't mean hiding behind a tree or something like that, I mean literally in plain sight while watching the vows). Also, the cocktail hour got quite warm (it is south Florida) - perhaps better fans, AC, etc. Overall, the food was good. Drinks were great and the space was breathtaking! read more

I recently attended a family member's wedding here. The place is gorgeous and is nicely situated in a hidden nook and cranny in the Coconut Grove area. When you walk in, you feel like you are in an 18th century Spanish villa, hence the name. The courtyard at the entrance is very rustic and it feels like you've stepped through a time machine. The main area in the back, where the wedding took place was highlighted by it's central feature, the big wedding tree where most of the ceremonies take place. The food was good, but not great. The appetizers were the best part. The wait staff was definitely attentive. A cousin is highly alergic to a certain food and they made sure that she was accommodated. The place is even prettier at night due to the tree being lit up. Villa Woodbine isn't huge, so I would imagine that a wedding with more than 100 people would feel very stuffy. But if you don't plan on having a huge wedding, this definitely seems like a good place to check out. read more

This venue is absolutely gorgeous! We stumbled across this gem when researching venues for our destination wedding in Miami, FL. The venue offers a private setting that feels like home but with an old, rustic Spanish twist. If you love the architecture of Viscaya, this venue offers a more reasonably priced and intimate alternative. FYI, Viscaya and Woodbine were designed by the same architect. Some features we fell in love with: - Courtyard with a fountain - we had our ceremony there. - Spanish tiles on the steps - gorgeous for photo shoots - Rustic/antique furniture and a Chihuly chandelier - Garden - we used this space for the reception but it could easily be used for the ceremony. Trees engulf the property and evoke a true, Coconut Grove vibe. The actual house reminds me of Vizcaya, just on a smaller, more intimate scale. We moved to Miami one month before getting engaged. Needless to say I was absolutely clueless about wedding venues down here but had a specific vision of what I DIDN'T want, a hotel banquet hall wedding. I wanted our big day to be somewhere beautiful, outdoors, and charming. I wanted it to photograph like a dream. I wanted the food to be outta this world, which usually means in-house catering and a kitchen on-site. Enter Villa Woodbine. After scouring the web for Miami wedding venues I had very little choices with such tough requirements, but Villa Woodbine seemed to fit the bill. On paper it had everything we needed. I didn't waste our time with any other venue and we signed and put a deposit down for our big day on the spot. As it turns out this venue is an institution in the area. We've met a fair amount of people who have called Miami home for decades and they either got married there, attended a wedding there, or just knew it's a gorgeous place in the grove. Score! I'm a more hands-on bride than most but the Villa embraced my neuroticism and frequent emails. Amanda is a pro; her enthusiasm and bubbly energy kept the process exciting. Bill Hansen of Bill Hansen Catering is a pretty great dude and he should be proud of the team running this place. I was specific about my food menu (we did Sunday brunch) and they knocked it out the park. We had specialty cocktails that came out perfect; I even have guests asking for the recipes. I hired a day-of coordinator and was blessed with Christina. I had a TON of details and she handled every single one of them- brides, spend the money on her because she is worth EVERY penny. My wedding day was perfect. I'll forever remember the delicious food, our lovely signature cocktails, the way the sun shone through the beautiful trees, how happy my friends and family were, and this treasure of a place. We recently celebrated our daughters wedding at Willa Woodbine. It was absolutely magical. The experience starting last spring to the date of the wedding was very easy and staff was most accommodating. Our sales person, Ashley Morales, was wonderful. She immediately instilled a sense of warmth, and caring. She was helpful with suggestions and ideas. She was quick to respond, engaging, and professional. I really had my heart set on Villa Woodbine. The venue is beautiful and exactly what I imagined for my outdoor wedding. Sadly, I decided to no longer book with them because the service is horrible. I met Bill Hansen himself and he was very sweet however his staff is another story. The first time I called to set an appointment they took down my number and said they would have a salesperson call me back. No one ever called me, I had to call back. Finally I was able to set an appointment, checked out the venue, and discussed pricing. The prices and taxes are little high and overpriced however I was willing to work something out. While discussing pricing, it was a mess. Things got confusing. The sales person offered me a special price but would only offer this price if I booked within the next couple days. When I got home, I calculated everything and realized I was getting the same price regardless. There was no special pricing so why was I rushed to sign a contract? Anyways I've emailed the sales person multiple times, called a couple times and have yet gotten a response. This is very frustrating. If this is already a mess before actual wedding process has started, I can't imagine how much more disorganized it will be if I were to book with them. The sales reps at villa woodbine should Better manage time and return phone calls. EDIT: The sales rep emailed me back and rather answer my questions she dismissed me and told me the venue is not a good fit for me. Seriously the WORST service read more

The Historic Villa Woodbine, where his catering expertise evolves its a heavenly wedding experience at one of the most beautiful venues in South Florida. Food - A+++ - My husband works in the food industry, so he knows good food and had set pretty high expectations for our wedding meal. He wanted a 5-star food experience and would not accept "wedding food" at our wedding. Honestly, they exceeded our expectations... the meal was beautifully presented and more importantly, tasted delicious, (even by my husband's picky standards). Our guests were really impressed and that's always a great feeling. Service - A+++ - My glass was always filled with champagne without even having to ask. Isn't that wonderful? Everything was taken care of in such a polite, "we are here for you; you are our guest" demeanor, that we had a fabulous time without a care in the world! Team - A+++ - You can't ask to feel anymore cared for... Bill, Adam, Janet, and (another wonderful, jolly gentleman who he took care of things the day of) are wonderful people. PERSONAL SERVICE is the motto that they live and work by. Adam was extremely helpful and responsive, even when I frantically emailed him at 8pm days before the wedding - I'd get a reassuring email back within minutes. Incredible! Went to a wedding here last night. The place is beautiful and we had a great time. Everyone liked it. From my standpoint the only thing that could have been better was having more than one bathroom. Open bar and 70+ guests had the line a little long. I overheard some of the ladies in heels wishing the ground was a little smoother, a majority of the event was outside so I guess you can expect a few bumps. My husband and I fell in love with Villa Woodbine (VW) from the start of our wedding planning journey. Though when we first inquired about pricing, the venue seemed too far out of our financial reach. We had begrudgingly moved on and stated looking elsewhere to host our wedding. However, this year (2020), VW started doing elopement and intimate wedding packages that fit perfectly for us. Once we found out about these packages, we contacted VW right away and ended up with the best coordinator anyone could ask for - Gipsy. She's as sweet and charmingly southern as could be! She guided us every step of the way and lead us two young and clueless kids to our dream wedding. Gipsy respected our decisions and never pressured us into something we didn't feel we needed. She made, what we though to be an financially unattainable dream a stunningly beautiful reality! After our wedding we had guests ask us who this petite southern lady was because they assumed by her behavior and by the things she did that day, that she was family! That's how Gipsy treats you! I got married here last year and overall it was a good experience with minimal problems. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous! My wedding day was nice, the staff was very helpful along the way. Our wedding photos turned out gorgeous as well. My only complaint is the quality of the food. That's why I only gave 4 stars. Our wedding dinner was fine, but some of the food just didn't taste good. Our guests didn't seem to mind, so maybe it was just me. I attended a wedding here a few years ago and don't remember the food being so bad, which is why I wanted to get married here. It didn't ruin my wedding day by any means. I would recommend to a friend if they were getting married, but I would also mention my experience with their food. read more

It's a beautiful mansion that sits on lushly landscaped property with a giant oak tree where you can hold your ceremony under. It has soft lights around it that light up at night too. The catering here is done solely by Bill Hansen Catering. When I fist got engaged, I had no idea what I wanted. The only 2 things I did know was that I had to have amazing food given my unbelievable passion for it and I wanted an intimate house-like venue where both sides of the fam would feel comfortable and welcomed. Bill Hansen prides himself on his food, presentation an service. I could not have asked for more. The place is gorgeous and seems hidden off of South Bayshore Drive in the grove. i went here last year for a wedding and was very impressed with how beautiful this place was. Unfortunately, the food was horrible, I couldn't even eat what was on my plate. The Mash potatoes were worst than insta mash potatoes, just horrible. In addition, seeing that I am now planning my own wedding the outside ground was uneven making it very difficult to walk around in heels, thus I would not like my guest to be inconvenienced with this. I couldn't say enough good things about Villa Woodbine. If you are getting married in Miami, I don't know why you would consider any other venue. We had the pleasure of working with Eden Bauer and Christina Acosta. We live in Singapore, so planning a wedding from halfway around the world should be difficult, but they made sure it was anything but! Eden met with my sister-in-law initially who checked out the venue and came with a list of questions, she then met with us two other times before the wedding, and made sure everything was exactly what we wanted. Christina was a star, made me feel like an absolute celebrity. She took care of any issues that arose, and I didn't feel an ounce of stress the entire day. The venue couldn't be anymore beautiful - from the courtyard, to the bar area, dessert room, to the bridal suite, the tree, and the garden area, it is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. The food is out of this world good - my guests couldn't compliment it enough. We just did the tacos, tapas, and milkshake martinis stations - which seems simple enough - but it was anything but that! Great detail was given to every aspect of the food and drinks. I'm sure all the coordinators at the venue are great, but if I had the chance to work with Christina again, I absolutely would.
