I am so embarrassed, as kindly a fellow yelper said my review was funny as she thought it was an old building too, aka historical. It turns out I WAS WRONG, on a grand SCALE (2003 !!!). On further research it turns out this place is relatively new, see what I found out on the good old net - Originally constructed in 2003, the Cruz Building in Coconut Grove recently underwent some restoration work to its interior. The facade resembles a French row house, with natural keystone and travertine columns, iron balconies, authentic gas-flame lanterns, and Gothic stone sculptures. A good portion of the building's contents are architectural European and French New Orleans antiques. In my defense they do feature antiques inside, (pheww, I have a reputation to defend here!!!) What can I say? I love history, and they DID should an awesome job, it authentically looks old. I am still a fan and my review is still a 5 star. read more

We had our work event here and wow what an amazing building. I'm sure there's plenty of history to it in a great area of coconut grove centrally located to all these restaurants and the Main Street. Check out the photos below pretty cool place. You would never think this is inside this building. read more

A friend of mine had tickets for the Craft Spirits Festival held at The Cruz Building. He asked me with time, and so, I somehow managed to be a +1 to something I never even knew existed. This building is beautiful. Three floors it has and it seems each floor is more amazing than the last. The first floor is mainly an entrance and there were lots of vendors there. The vendors were also on the second and third floors, but these floors seemed more likely to hold parties given their extravagant bars. Not to mention that the third floor has an outside area that gives you a view of Miami. That and there were tables there for cigars, for those who appreciate a fine cigar with liquor. This venue overall is simply lovely. I imagine there must be a lot of fancy parties held there. Would love to return sometime. I do suggest, though, when going to take an Uber or Lyft. Parking in the area can be sparse. Then again, it's Coconut Grove. It's to be expected. read more

YEIIIIIIIII I finally went to this gorgeous venue where the Craft Spirit Event was held at. They do not have a parking lot or garage but there are many street options and that's' exactly what we did. The architecture of this building is simply gorgeous, with French New Orleans influence and Europe all over. It has four floors but I got to see the first three. The Balcon at the third-floor is soooooo pretty and I simply loved this place. read more

We used the Cruz Building for our wedding reception and the venue is beautiful. We got so many compliments from our guests!

Great Venue!!! So happy my friend invited me as his plus one. The price of the tickets alone would have deterred me from going. Lol! There is no parking garage for this venue. There is street parking and public lots nearby. Luckily for us the valet that night was complimentary. From the outside you wouldn't think much of the building but boy was I pleasantly surprised when I walked in. From the front it just appears to be a historic building. Once we checked in and received our wristbands we were immediately greeted with drinks. I am not much of a drinker but the drinks were free and sponsored by Crown Royal. Aside from this building has 3 floors and each floor has a bar. On the third level that is also a rooftop outside patio. Thankfully there is also an elevator. Can you imagine walking up and down three level of stairs all night with heels, I could not. By hour 3 I was so grateful for the elevator and the seats!!! The venue itself hasn't been too long here because I could've sworn when I worked in the area about 6 years ago this was a pub. With great chicken wings might I add. But could wrong. Maybe it was some storefronts down. As I said, this venue is amazing and I learned that they also allow weddings and quinces as well here. Hopefully in the future I get invited to more events here. read more

First off the place is beautiful and me and my fiancé were considering it, until today when we got a call from (Jehane) and the phone rang for a bit, considering we are both med and nursing students we are busy 24-7. So picked it up a little late, and we heard her say something right when we picked up about us not answering again, The attitude in the response wasn't appropriate and Neither of us care to work with someone who is that unprofessional to "not make sure"a client is on the phone before talking them down, especially if you're trying to "sell" the place and make us want to continue with it. P.S. have a little respect for your clients because not all of us are going to be free 24-7. The Cruz building is incredible, unique, lavish, elegant, beautiful, opulent and so much more. I had my dream wedding on December 4th,2021. Thanks to my wedding planner and all the vendors I worked with, the wedding was a success and a huge hit with the guests. I used all three floors of the venue. Ceremony on the first floor, cocktail on the second floor, dinner on the third floor and dancing on the terrace. It was absolute perfection. Totally recommend this venue for brides that are looking to have a unique venue experience with that wow factor! read more

I love this building so much. I always get excited when an event it held here. I wish there were more public events, because it's such a special space. I remember when it was a British pub, then a club, and it was amazing. I wish there were more places like this in Miami. My most recent visit was for a cocktail event held on all three floors. It is so amazing to check out all of the beautiful architecture and details. Sometimes you feel like you're in a British pub, with wooden booths, and at other times you feel like you are in Versailles in France. The bottom floor is perfect for a wedding or for setting up dinner tables, and the top floor is the perfect party space. If you get a chance to visit this event space, do it! Events always have valet. read more

The Cruz Building is beautiful, no additional decorations needed other than flowers and some tea light candles. The building was clean and well kept up. We had the wedding for our daughter and it just was a perfect setting for the type of wedding she was looking for. I recommend this venue to anyone looking for a wedding that is gothic, romantic, or intimate. Perfect setting. The location was great as well plenty of hotels and places to eat, shop, explore etc. read more

THIS is an event venue! I came to the Cruz Building for a cocktail festival and while I don't usually like to drink liquor - this building still managed to blow me away! As an event organizer, ideas immediately began to flow through my mind as I walked through the massive 3 story building. Such a versatile space - you can literally do ANYTHING here. The first floor has a bar, tucked away behind columns. The massive grand staircase is off to the right and as you being to walk up them you literally feel like you have teleported somewhere out of Miami. Antique paintings, fine details in the wood, perfect lighting - then opens up the second floor. With a mezzanine overlooking the first floor, another bar and an outside area overlooking Coconut Grove. Which leads to the third floor with - you guessed it, another bar! - and a nice open air terrace. They had cigars in this area - which I don't care for, but it made sense. Overall the building is phenomenal. The only downside is the parking. It's either Valet or fighting to grab one of the coveted spots on the street. The nearest parking lot is about 2 blocks away and while I don't wear high heels, I can't imagine ladies getting dolled up for an event here having to walk that far through Coconut Groves uneven brick streets to get here. Since I don't wear heels - I'll give it a perfect rating - but ladies...you've been warned! read more

I'm extremely biased but I love this place. My husband and I recently got married at this venue in December. It was the perfect backdrop for my dream wedding in Miami. My goal was to stray away from a traditional hotel and have a unique venue with different rooms/settings. While Miami has some really cool venues that can deliver that, I also didn't want an outside venue with the unpredictable Miami weather. For starters, this place isn't cheap. If you have a strict budget I have to break the news that this might not be the place for you. The venue has has a slightly cheaper rental fee on Fridays (the day I got married) than Saturday and you can also just rent 1 or 2 floors instead of the entire 3 floors) BUT from experience, renting The Cruz Building and not having the 3rd floor seems like a complete waste to me. It's the prettiest and the best location in the building for the party/reception. The grand bar up there is gorgeous and the patio is also a great option to have for your guests. I ended up having 90 guests. Ceremony and cocktail on the first floors, dinner on the second, dessert and dancing on the third. The guests have so many compliments to say about the venue. It's like every floor was a new surprise. If a unique venue is what you're looking for then go check this place out in person. I must say the pictures don't do it justice. I almost didn't go see it because I wasn't completely sold by the pictures. It's so much more elegant and prettier in person. The staff keep this place SUPER clean (what sold my mom). Another added cost to keep in mind when booking TCB, valet is mandatory upon booking this venue. You must pay for this cost for your guest. They also require you to rent a dance floor with them. I brought an outside caterer but all furniture must be booked through them. read more

What a gorgeous venue! We went for the Crafts Spirit Festival & had a great time! The building lent itself perfects to the New Orleans style vibe complete with a lively brass band jamming the entire night. Tons of options & the cocktails were so good! I loved the Tito's Apple Pie Martini but my favourites were the Whisky Slushy, a super refreshing green cucumber cocktail & a smoky mezcal drink (can't recall the brands unfortunately). There were a few food stations but none were for me (pescatarian & non-dairy). Great event & will definitely be attending next year! read more

I had my wedding here at The Cruz Building. I wanted a venue that was unlike any other venue I have ever been to. I also wanted a gothic, moody-style wedding and did NOT want the traditional "flowery" girly type wedding. The SECOND I walked into The Cruz Building, I looked at my (now) husband and said "this is it! We have to book it!" & we did just that. The Cruz Building was the FIRST venue I looked at and I cancelled all the other venue tours I had. My mind was already made up. I worked with Maggie from "Inspired Events" (the caterer that works for The Cruz Building" and she made the wedding planning process completely stress free; and I seriously mean that. My actual wedding day went *FLAWLESSLY* - as you can imagine, I have never done this before so I had NO idea what to expect! My bridal suite was absolutely gorgeous & my bridesmaids and I had the ENTIRE third floor to get ready. I can't stop boasting about how amazing and out of this WORLD my wedding was. Gladys who works at the building made everything seamless and Maggie and Elsie from Inspired Events (caterer) made me feel like the most special bride to have ever stepped foot in The Cruz Building. They put 110% effort into every single wedding and make you feel extraordinarily special the entire wedding process. (From wedding planning to the actual wedding ceremony and reception itself, I felt like I was top priority, always!) I sincerely owe The Cruz Building and Inspired Events a huge "THANK YOU!" Thank you for creating the *MOST MEMORABLE NIGHT* of my life and for orchestrating an event that my guests will keep talking about for months to come. read more

In one word MEMORABLE. I had my daughters Quinces there on 8/9/13 and it was simply beautiful! Being from New Orleans we had a masquerade theme and this venue was perfect. We used the first and second floor and used the bridal suite for my daughter gown changes. Hors d'oeuvres were served at cocktail hour on the first floor courtyard, also the dance floor. We had an open bar for our guests to enjoy while awaiting my daughters big entrance down the stunning stairs. After the father/daughter dance we went up to the second floor where dinner was served and we had the second open bar. The cake was upstairs where we sang Happy birthday! Back downstairs for dancing. We hired a percussionist to play along with the DJ, wow what a hit and the guests never expected it. We rented a photobooth which was a HUGE fun for both the teens and adults, super fun! We had a Crazy Hour/Hora Loca around 11:30 which was a blast! Danced until 1am and like I said it was a memorable night. Our friends and family are still talking about it 4 months later. The Cruz building had security at the door and staff throughout the building all night. Beautiful place I highly recommed it and our caterer Chris, owner of Delicious Catering. read more

I never knew this place existed, as many times I have been to Coconut Grove and walked around to their bars and restaurants. The only time I have gone in was because I was invited to a friend's wedding and their reception was in the venue. It is beautiful inside. It has 3 bars, one in each floor. Everything is beautifully decorated. And it is very spacious for a lot of people. The parking outside is not enough so I just suggest to do carpool or take an Uber or Lyft. read more

One thing I always wanted to do as the Miami CM (but never accomplished) was producing an event at The Cruz Building. It was one of the first big venues I saw (from the outside) when I moved to Miami and I became obsessed with it ever since. It took me a while to get inside but it was worth the wait. This gorgeous building is straight out of another one of my former cities (New Orleans) and possesses a sultry nature that captivates party-goers. The building seems wholly out of place in Miami and that's what makes it so fantastic. The Cruz Building is all black lace, gilded entrances, majestic wooden bars, wrought iron fencing, hidden nooks, bawdy balconies, stained glass, and space to make dreams come true. The building is romantic in every sense of the word. The winding staircase, ornate lattice work and stately brick provide a surprisingly versatile canvas to create the perfect setting for any one of a number of events. Onyx (!!) floors and floating lanterns make you feel as though you're in another time and place. It's worth it to look up, down and all around in here. TCB is not cut from the same white, sleek, minimal Miami approach... and that's a very good thing. In a city that screams Caribbean and 'new' The Cruz Building is European, a touch gothic American and old old old. Rich mahogany booths provide natural seating and a way in which to be a part of the action whilst taking a breather. There's gold everywhere -- but not in a tacky, new-money way. Taste. Class... even the bathrooms are stunning! The top-floor terrace provides views of the Grove and a rich, intimate introduction to the night's sky. If you live in Miami and have not found a way to get yourself inside The Cruz Building... fix this. Immediately. You won't find 50-foot silhouettes of dancing women here. Put on your nice clothes, leave the chancletas at home and get a glimpse of some old-world luxury in the middle of one of the most lush neighborhoods in Miami. You will be changed for the better. The Cruz Building, you're the one that got away. read more

I went here to take my quinces pictures. The building is beautiful and we had the place all to ourselves. (Keep in mind that this is not always the case). Beautiful building, used all three floors. The room we were given to change had a hairnet in it, which was gross. And there isn't parking. You have to pay Valet parking. Great place, cleanliness could be improved. read more

The Cruz Building is stunning. The moment my wife and I walked in we knew we wanted our wedding here. We had our wedding on 1/14/23 and it was absolutely amazing, our guests had a great time. I do want to give an honest review of the Cruz Building for future couples thinking of using the Cruz Building so they are aware of what they are getting into. The Cruz building knows that the building is beautiful, given this I can say their customer relations isn't the greatest since they know people are going to pay regardless. Communication on part of the Cruz Building is poor and I will give you specific examples. When we originally signed our contract 2 years ago we were given a quote for the furniture rentals since you have to rent all furniture through them. 10 days before our wedding when we were finalizing table/chair rentals we received an invoice which was about $400-500 more for the tables and chairs (final count of furniture was less than what we were originally quoted). When we asked about this she said their prices had increased and refused to honor our original quote. We never received an email or any information informing us of the price increase. They just told us "sorry we increased our prices". I would recommend in your contract the "quoted" price of furniture they give you is the price you lock in. (You don't want any surprises 10 days before your wedding for an expense you weren't expecting, since they know you have no choice but to pay it). Another part of poor communication on the Cruz Building was the night of our wedding. Our contract of the event was for 5 hours. We had our ceremony off site and our party was from 7p-12a. I wish the Cruz Building would have told us at 12 on the dot all guest had to be out of the building. The night of our wedding, we wanted a last private dance, operation staff kicked our guest out as if it was a fire drill. Everyone was forced out onto the street in front of the building. They didn't even let my 84 year old grandmother use the bathroom before leaving. Because if this was clearly communicated to us we would have either ended the party by 11:30/11:45 or paid for an extra 30 mins to give our guest enough time to gather all their belongings/take centerpieces/favors and give time for valet. All 155 guest were forced out onto the street, some even had to wait cross the street. You can only imagine the nightmare this caused the valet. The night of our wedding Gladys who we had been dealing with from the beginning was not there (which we knew ahead of time), the Cruz Building operation staff that was present that night at times was hard to find. Our coordinator had a hard time looking for them when we wanted the lights dimmed for dancing. Aside from kicking everyone out like a fire drill the only thing that I found unprofessional was, while kicking everyone out, 2 females apart of the operation staff went around to our centerpieces and removed all the white roses (~150) after they removed all of the roses they asked my parents what we were doing with the centerpieces that they do not throw them away that we had to deal with them. Obviously at this point the centerpieces were basically bare since they took all the roses so there was no point in keeping them. We had to tip the front security guard for him to throw them away for us because if not we wouldn't get our security deposit back (which they did try to bring up when I emailed them asking about the deposit). I do believe the Cruz building can do a better job with communicating general operations since this is their venue and deal ouun a daily basis with events. The only emails we received from the Cruz Building was payment reminders. Our wedding was beautiful and we had a fantastic time. Our vendors and coordinator were incredible. But just beware, I felt the Cruz Building operation team was the only aspect of our experience that was lacking, they know their building speaks for itself and ultimately don't go above and beyond for their guest. read more

IF you are looking to have an event in a unique space, THIS IS IT! We hosted a fundraiser here for the not for profit that I work for and I was BLOWN away. I have never seen a space quite like this. Waiters aren't good. Extremely Slow. Beautiful building compensates for the lack of effort.

This note is to clarify my previous negative Review on this company's cancellations of previously arranged Photo Shoot appointments. My daughter was going to take her 15's pics at this locale, but they cancel 3 days prior, due to a last minute Filming taking place in the building. I have now been made aware of the circumstances and understand their point of view. We, as clients who go their for photo shoots, don't sign any previous contracts; and even though this hardly happened before, they are in their right to cancel and re-schedule real-contracts in their facilities. They apologized for the previous situation and made sure to accommodate us for a further photo-shoot date, and as a client curtesy they waived our fees. This is the way a responsible and professional place should conduct their business. We can finally say that we are very satisfied. read more

Beautiful building, we could not have asked for a nicer venue to have our wedding. Most of our guests said it was one of the best weddings they had ever been to! It was very pricey though; not just for the venue itself, but for all of the add-ons that went along afterwards (chairs, dance floor, tables, etc.). I also wasn't a big fan of how we had to clean up after ourselves after the wedding, while (most, but not all of) the building staff stood around and did absolutely nothing to help us out. One of the girls even unsympathetically told me, the groom (on the night of his wedding) that I couldn't use their second empty dumpster because it was reserved for the next night's event and told me to walk around Coconut Grove and throw the rest of the garbage in the city trash cans (which were scarce, very full already, and were too small to even fit some of our larger items)...all while dressed in my nice tuxedo suit. However, the communication was good, and the event coordinators/building manager could not have been nicer. read more
