Pool area at sunset

Love this place! Will be coming back. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom and it was perfect! The pool was so relaxing and comfy. Loved the complimentary breakfast!

The atmosphere, food, cocktails & service were all perfect. It was a wonderful evening in a cool destination that we will frequent whenever we are in Palm Springs.

Amazing place! A true gem in Palm Springs, we will definitely be back soon. I've let all my colleagues and friends know about it and already planning our next trip! Not only is the hotel beautiful but all the staff is very welcoming and friendly. We celebrated our anniversary here (adults only btw) it helped keep the vibes chill and super relaxing. The pool bar food & drinks were spectacular and reasonably priced, our room was truly breathtaking! Our stay included welcome drinks and daily breakfast and it was such a lovely touch. Cleanliness was also top notch, shoutout to the housekeepers & staff who maintain it all! Thanks Villa Royale for taking very good care of us

One of the nicest boutique hotels I've been to, with a free parking and a rooftop perfect for watching sunsets. I can't say enough great things about this hotel. As a Black woman who often experiences varying levels of hospitality based on my race, this place treated me like a valued customer and provided top-tier service. I'm used to this level of service in my hometown in the DC area, but California sometimes falls short. Not this place. The amenities were amazing. The on-site restaurant, Del Ray, was sexy. The pool was deep. The grounds were clean. The morning breakfast was amazing. I can't compliment this place more. Oh! Please stay in spacious room 6. Soft bedding, big screen TVs, leather coach and art deco decoration. Simply amazing.

me and my partner came here to celebrate our anniversary and a few other milestones we had the best time from beginning to end! when you think of lay back, chic, boutique hotels - this is it. it's very well kept, the room is extremely clean, and you have everything you need. the fridge has the perfect amount of drink options from coconut water, soda, to mexican beers. and yes this is not the 4 seasons so you have to accommodate yourself (which is not difficult to do) you aren't walking more than 5 minutes to find the bar, different pools, roof top lounge area, etc. we met a lot of couples traveling from other areas too which was nice small talk - if you're into that. the welcome drink was a nice touch and the milk and cookies at night was also cute!! 10/10 stay, we deft will come here again the breakfast is light and limited but again, it's a boutique hotel, you aren't getting pancakes and omelets haha but it was perfect to eat by the pool and later on - go to town if you want. we loved our stay. can't wait to be back

Like truly WONDERFUL. They have it down and everything is thought through! We arrived an hour early and did pre-checkin. We were greeted with a drink and sat on the rooftop until 4 which it was check in. Our only hiccup was checking in. They did not have the room ready at 4 so we had to wait another 20 minutes with a few times asking to see why it was late. When we got to our room, it was a dream! Complete with a little private patio. We were so pleased to check out the 3 pools. Each have their own vibe. Music was playing through the whole property. Misters. Cabanas. Sunscreen & bug spray. Water stations. Bikes! Breakfast was amazing! An elevated continental. Fresh bagels, fresh juice, fruit, butters & jams, granola. Mimosa station! And more. I love that there is a restaurant there, room service & a bar so you don't need to leave. It was the coziest of the cozy. I don't think I can stay anywhere else.

Went for two nights, didn't want to leave so stayed for a 3rd. Very low key, beautiful, comfortable, and relaxing boutique hotel. I loved the neighborhood; it was very quiet. We stayed in the back area (30s) and it was perfectly secluded but close enough to the lobby and pool bar (the place isn't huge anyway). Everything is handled by text, which is convenient and the response is timely. We had drinks at the bar in the restaurant one night and while the menu wasn't what we were looking for, it had some items that appealed to us-just depends on your cravings. My only complaint is the pool temp. It's very hot and the water was like bath water but I don't know if there's anything that can be done about that in June, in Palm Springs. I loved this hotel and it'll be a definite contender when returnin to Palm Springs.

This place is a dream. Came for a kid free weekend with some girlfriends and loved the beautiful property, attentive & friendly staff, delicious & healthy complimentary breakfast spread and the 8pm cookies & milk. Property is gorgeous, pool was lovely and location is great.

The staff on the more private side were amazing. Asking if we needed anything and giving suggestions on how to navigate and where to go. Shout out to Farah Carlene, Elena for going above and beyond.

I felt like I was in a movie living out my most romanticized dreams. Very clean and beautiful decor. There is an aura of calmness and serenity everywhere you walk. The cookies and Milk in the evening was a cute touch. I definitely want to return to this location.

My best friend and I booked a room here and had a wonderful experience. Staff is friendly and the rooms are very clean. Absolutely adored the pool area with a stunning view. The breakfast is lovely and there were complimentary cookies at night which was an added plus. Would definitely stay here again.

Did a weekend stay with a friend at Villa Royale for the first time. Got in two hours early but was able to check in with no problem. I'm a yelper and a person of color so I was hesitant when I read a few comments regarding the hotel racially profiling. Well I will say the front desk was a pleasure at 2pm. They give you a welcome drink on arrival and ask if you have any questions after going over a few details. I also walked down one of the pathway with my bags while someone from the cleaning team was coming towards me and they adjusted their cart to give me room to walk through. Our room was small. Looking at the site map it looked like it was one of the smaller rooms. Next time I know to request a bit more space since I'm a little claustrophobic. The room was very clean. cute decor. Wish the plants were real but that's a lot of upkeep. I don't think I was in one of their better rooms from the pictures I've seen. My room was right in front of one of the smaller pools. Literally if I fell walking out the door it would be into the pool. Being this close I could hear everyone's conversations from the pool into the room as well as the pool cleaner in the AM. There are 3 pools on site which is great. The bigger pool outside of their restaurant is the most lively and where you'll want to lay if you want to get waited on. The servers were very attentive throughout the weekend. Del Rey their on-site restaurant was good for dinner and pool side treats! Their text service system was convenient. I never used it to order food but requesting a made and checking out was simple. I would check this hotel out again and recommend it.

Nice room!

Love this mid century modern style resort! Property is well kept, clean rooms with a good sense of style, 3 pools, bikes are available for guests, on site bar and restaurant. Light breakfast provided was very good including mimosas! We will definitely be coming back to stay again!

On 1/1, while using the hot tub on site, the chlorine stripped the dye right out of the fabric of my swimsuit within about 10 minutes. By the next morning, my partner's swim shorts were also bleached and permanently damaged. The photos speak for themselves - this was severe chemical damage, not normal wear. While we were at the pool that day, a staff member told us the hot tub had been chlorinated that morning. Two of our personal items were ruined after a single use following same-day maintenance. The total replacement cost for my swimsuit alone is $240. Fabriv damage occurring within minutes is commonly associated with significantly elevated chlorine levels, not normal use. Given how quickly the dye was stripped from our swimwear, this raised serious concerns about whether the facilities were safe for guests to be using at that time. What's far more upsetting than the damage itself is the hotel's lack of response. We reported this while still on property and followed up multiple times afterward. Management was dismissive, denied responsibility, and told us to take it up with Booking.com. Since then, Booking.com has attempted multiple times to contact the hotel on our behalf and the property has not responded at all. Accidents happen. Equipment issues happen. But refusing to acknowledge a clear problem, deflecting responsibility, and then completely ignoring repeated attempts to resolve it is unacceptable. The lack of accountability and communication is what truly ruined this experience.

The grounds are pristine, with beautifully curated desert landscaping--clean lines, sculptural cacti, and a classic Palm Springs aesthetic that feels both serene and intentional. Our room was equally impressive--we especially loved the large stand-up shower and the abundance of natural light, which made the space feel bright, open, and relaxing. Their attention to detail, warmth, and professionalism delivered a seamless, first-class experience from start to finish. You won't find prices under $500. With that in mind it should be luxury. There's nothing luxury here. It's fine, it's clean, it's nice. First the staff, everyone is great. Very friendly, helpful, informative. So no problems there. So I think it's the management and the operator of the hotel. Inside the rooms, even after a recent renovation, it's just fine. There's nothing noticeable and there's nothing I'll think about or mention as a great part of the room. Everything is fine. During conferences or events, they may close certain parts of the hotel to other guests. That happened to me but didn't affect my impression of the hotel. I did speak with front desk to get some fees waived due to facilities being closed to non-conference guests. The other thing is with this resort fees, there's nothing worth any value included. So they advertise fitness facility and internet. That is basic and should be included in the rate, not resort fee. If you want to use the sauna in the spa, that's another $50 day pass fee on top of the resort fee. I understand other hotels do this but I am not into normalizing this. This is more a practice in the US, when you travel to Asia and Europe, saunas are at least included. Fees on top of rates on top of fees is a continuing practice at US hotels that I will be calling out and reflecting in reviews and to hotel staff. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. It's fine if you want to check it out. I've stayed at other hotels in the area and would recommend those, esp at this price point you have the world of options.

The extra rolls under the sink were unwrapped. When coming to our room a few hours after check in, calling customer service (calling three times) took more than an hour, just for us to be told that the lighting and cleanliness issues will be solved in the morning. Was really looking forward to the experience but upon our first few hours, we felt unwelcome, uncomfortable and turned off of our whole stay. Especially when faced with the lack of cleanliness in the restroom, if our bathtub could be so apparently dirty, what else could they have missed? We were forced to spend the first few hours fixing up our room before starting to feel comfortable. This meant scrubbing the bathtub, washing every dish and checking every surface. With the lengthy and detailed check in process, we were really expecting a quality, travel worthy experience. Instead, it felt we were greeted with an unclean, uncomfortable welcome. As guests, it was made obvious to us that customer service was not at the forefront of our experience. Having decentralized customer service (through phone numbers and apps) made us feel so unattached from the actual experience.

I was a little scared when I read that most of the recent reviews were negative. I was thinking "oh no! What did I get us into." This place is a blast from the past. The decor is that of a mid century modern and is a really cozy quadrangle set up. The interior feels homey and the property is set up like an air bnb with shared amenities. They play 1950s music all day on speakers throughout the complex, it creates that vintage feel but can get repetitive after a few days. Lounge with tables, board games, travel brochures, couches, fire place, coffee and tea, and industrial kitchen for use during your stay. (Old reviews mention happy hour, breakfast, snacks, etc. these are no longer offered but why not just bring your own?) Each room has microwave and mini fridge. Outdoor gas fire pit for use. The pool is small but has a deep end 8ft which is nice. There are pool noodles and some tubes to use. The hot tub is spacious and powerful jets. We stayed in the Hawaiian surf room, loved the theme it was so cute and felt like a tropical getaway. The shower is small but functional. Good AC unit with a remote control and ceiling fan. Surfboard coffee table and wicker love seat add to the tropical feel. Overall this was a nice private getaway. You can be left alone to relax! If you need anything you can text the hotel and someone replies super quick in my experience. The hotel feels very secure with codes needed to enter the complex and security cameras at the entrance and surrounding the complex. (Probably for management to check and make sure everything is running smoothly). I would stay here again in a heartbeat and I have stayed at a few different boutique hotels in the area. This would be a top choice! Please realize this is an older complex and it does show some wear and tear but come on the building is probably 100 years old or somewhere close to that. If you are expecting a sterile, high end, resort feel for your stay this is not your place... but otherwise this is a great choice! I couldn't help but feel bad for the owners with all of the really bad reviews on here because that was truly not my experience. I left off one star because there are definitely areas of improvement that could be made but not enough to ruin my experience.

All rooms are a maximum of two people with a hot tub, refrigerator with water, microwave, and coffee maker, air conditioning, and DVD player. If you'd like, bring a DVD and popcorn to enjoy during your stay. The bed was pretty comfortable. There were more than enough pillows which I'm guilty of using more than one pillow while I sleep. I love how the comforter was linen on the outside, but cozy and warm on the inside. The Crooners room has two sinks, but I only used one. There is happy hour everyday at 5pm by the pool or communal area with snacks and beer or wine. During my stay there were chips and salsa and the following day was veggies with dip, with of course a drink of choice. Really nice touch added to my stay. It's been a while since I have stayed in a bed and breakfast and I love the homeyness here. Breakfast is served in the communal dining area with hand sanitizer provided. The three-course breakfast starts with a fruit smoothie, a fruit parfait and a hot breakfast. For breakfast they served blueberry pancakes with sausage and the following day it was quiche with artichoke hearts and potatoes. I loved the service here so much. You sit at a table and they serve the food to you. The pool is open 24 hours will pool floaties available to use as well. Another thing I like about this place is that because there aren't many people (max 40 people at a time) it is highly likely you will get the pool to yourself. When I checked out and left the property I told my husband I would enjoy staying here again. I really enjoyed my stay here and highly recommend you stay here too.
