I was on the hunt for coffee when I was staying in Vila Madalena and walked here one day. I had…read morejust arrived right before it started to down pour. I almost walked past the entrance from the street. They have a few different areas one could find a seat - every place had a covered ceiling so when it rains most every spot can be filled up. Lots of plants. I sat in the tiny room with the A/C with windows that faced the street - right behind the coffee bar. It kind of felt like I was inside a treehouse - it was nice to be there when it was raining outside. It was really peaceful I wish I had brought a book or my journal with me that day. When you walk inside through the glass doors, turn to your right and walk towards the coffee bar that looks like you're in a kitchen workspace. This is normal as this is where you will place your order. After you order, you can find your seat and it will be brought out to you. The entire space gives a semi-modernized artsy atmosphere. There is a larger space with sofa, accent chairs and tables near a bookshelf filled with different bags of coffee you could purchase as well as various coffee tools and accessories. They have more indoor/outdoor seating down the corridor you walk down when you first turn in from the street as well. Since I love espressos, I had to try the espresso tasting where they give you one small cup and one larger cup of espresso - both brewed the same way, just presented differently. Stir the smaller cup fast with the spoon and slower with the bigger cup. When you taste them, you will notice a difference as one will be more bitter and the other will have that fuller taste. I preferred the smaller cup as it had more of that dark espresso flavor. The staff are super friendly. There was someone there who helped me decide what to order and explained to me how to drink it when he had brought it out. It was also helpful that he knew a little bit of English. I wish I had came here more than just one time and I regret not buying a couple bags of coffee as the packaging is what drew me to the merch, but I was already overflowing with items in my suitcase.

Fun little coffee shop that is worth a visit if you are in the area…read more It is a good spot for bringing a laptop and doing some work. The food is nothing special, but the coffee is worth going for.

I'd easily give a 1000 star review if I could. SMG is a gem of its own, really. Surrounded by small…read morebusinesses, tucked in Morumbi neighbourhood, right behind the cemetery. This hole in the wall wouldn't drag you in due to its simplicity, a few tables outside, small parking lot filled with cars, fluorescent lights, counter deli, and packed with people. Been here twice already and can't wait to go there again. As I'd mentioned before, this place is a gem, it's a mom and pop shop where owner Stephan greets all patrons and his wife takes orders. Why did I took so long to write a 1000 star review for a place like this? Simple, this place deserves a detailed review. Here we go, what did I eat? Glad you asked: Basterma, fresh curd: Have never tasted anything like this! Slices of cured meat with some paprika, rolled on some fresh zesty curd, topped off with pistachios. Got an extra sunny side up egg to enrich this experience. Bottarga: thin slices of cured bottarga. Thought that only the Japanese ate cured mullet roe... My bad! Must love fish, SMG's Bottarga is beautiful. Pungent taste although not overpowering. Esfiha de Cebola: onion sfiha. Two words to describe an amazing morsel of food! Sfiha bread is light and crisp, filled with a cream of caramelised onions, curd, topped with crispy fried onions. All sfihas here good, but this one is outstanding. Kibe Montado: steak tartare, baked kibe, steak tartare, fattoush like salad, fresh curd, crispy fried onions, mint. It's amazing how fresh each ingredient is and how it blends all together. Hans' couscous: Hey now, that's how Stephan calls it! Semolina couscous, prawns, shrimp, mussels, octopus, fish, squid. Just imagine all these fresh seafood cooked in slow simmered made to order with spices, herbs, tomatoes, peppers, than some semolina couscous to soak up all juices... Chocolate Mousse: damn. Semi sweet chocolate mousse topped off with crushed roasted pistachios. Damn. Knefe: ricotta, phyllo, angel hair, preserved apricot. An explosion of textures, softness from ricotta, sweet from apricots, saltiness from ricotta, and lots of crunch! Bolo de Pistache: (Pistacchio cake): pistachio crust, pistachio filling. pistachio syrup. A tad dry with all these pistachios, but great burst of flavour of... You've got it! Pistachio! Can't wait to return! Oh btw, this place is jammed packed, they only take reservations until 1 or 2pm and after that is pure madness, but worth the wait!

This is absolutely the best middle east cuisine in town. You must get there for early lunch…read moreotherwise the waiting will be too long. They don't have many tables. They also have great sfihas for take out.

The açaí smoothie came out first and was perfectly thick and sweetened just enough - it was delicious. The mushroom wrap was great as well. I'm not a big bread eater (for sandwiches) so I likely would have asked for it without a wrap had I thought ahead. However, the spinach wrap was good and a great seasoning to it. This place is a bit more on the pricey side (in line with other restaurants in the area) - my meal was about $13 USD which is a little less than what I would have paid for a comparable meal in the US. If you're not on a strict budget then I'd recommend a detox meal here!

Came to Dona Vitamina to check it out and it's awesome! Open decor, a garden in the back of the room, vertical garden, open kitchen, smiling service staff, magazine rack, truly felt like I was having breakfast somewhere around Rodrigo de Freitas Lake in Rio. Menu has a wide range from vitaminas (smoothies), wraps, sandwiches, pão de queijo, bread, cakes, the list goes on. Though it's a healthy place, so no flaky croissants stuffed with ham and cheese, chocolate, etc. Since I had a bikram class to attend, I picked a açaí bowl which probably could feed three people easily, sliced banana e a side of granola along. Ommmm...
