The açaí smoothie came out first and was perfectly thick and sweetened just enough - it was delicious. The mushroom wrap was great as well. I'm not a big bread eater (for sandwiches) so I likely would have asked for it without a wrap had I thought ahead. However, the spinach wrap was good and a great seasoning to it. This place is a bit more on the pricey side (in line with other restaurants in the area) - my meal was about $13 USD which is a little less than what I would have paid for a comparable meal in the US. If you're not on a strict budget then I'd recommend a detox meal here!

Came to Dona Vitamina to check it out and it's awesome! Open decor, a garden in the back of the room, vertical garden, open kitchen, smiling service staff, magazine rack, truly felt like I was having breakfast somewhere around Rodrigo de Freitas Lake in Rio. Menu has a wide range from vitaminas (smoothies), wraps, sandwiches, pão de queijo, bread, cakes, the list goes on. Though it's a healthy place, so no flaky croissants stuffed with ham and cheese, chocolate, etc. Since I had a bikram class to attend, I picked a açaí bowl which probably could feed three people easily, sliced banana e a side of granola along. Ommmm...

The first time I arrived, one of the waiters, Carlos, took me under his wing, showed me the ropes, reserved a table for me and just made me feel like I'd arrived at a friend's house for dinner. I returned several times in the two weeks I stayed in São Paulo and also met Joe, one of the owner/managers. Joe encouraged me to try their paninis. Normally, I steer clear of pizza-like foods in foreign countries... I mean, I love my NYC thin crust and am almost always disappointed in what I find elsewhere. Not so at Boston Bakery. Their crust is thin, crunchy, not soggy at all! In short, unexpectedly amazing and all the ingredient inside are fresh and in creative, tasty combinations. Boston Bakery is a combo buffet, sit down restaurant, diner, deli, chocolate shop and corner store. A great place to run and grab something or stay and linger. Thanks Joe and team for some great meals and wonderful hospitality! See you again soon.

My experience at Taveres was very pleasant and enjoyable…read more My first impression was the ambiance; dim lighting and hipster decor. Something I very much look to in an enjoyable dining experience. Being a foreigner, I was pretty clueless about where to be seated. A server saw me and allowed me to pick my seat. I ordered a caipirinha to start off and the bacalau for my main course. Though the bacalau was a little salty to my taste, I loved the crispy onions they garnished the dish with. The fish meat was tender but firm. A texture I love. I finished off my meal with their bread pudding as recommended by my server. It was nice as warm with a sweet flavor of almonds and raisins. All the employees in the restaurant were really kind and patient especially since I don't speak Portuguese. They were willing provide me some must sees in Sao Paulo and didn't seem to be bothered by the fact that I had to use Google translate to communicate. I'll definitely be back for a next visit~ Glad Tavares lived up to their excellent reviews.

I fully appreciated the blanket and heaters that were brought over as it was a chilly evening, yet we were still "indoors" but not. Service was impeccable, with every member of the staff ensuring our experience was top notch and food met our expectations. I chose the slowly roasted beef ribs rice and was not expecting savory goodness that arrived! The beef ribs melted in my mouth and the rice was so incredibly flavorful - I would order this over and over again! Of all the restaurants I've been to, Figueira Rubaiyat has by far the one of the most extensive wine list I've seen, featuring many different wines from around the world, including Brazil of course! There is also a gift shop that should not be missed because of the very unique items that are found here - and a place I'll need to visit next time I'm in the area again! The entire experience is one that should not be missed. Every detail and every bite was absolute perfection!

I was literally still dreaming about it the next day; the food was really that good. Another standout dish was the braised short rib with sticky rice, a Brazilian specialty that was mouthwateringly delicious, with the beef and rice combo melting in your mouth. The toppings and sides were excellent as well. This was at an upscale restaurant, and the bill came out to half of what we would normally pay in the states. Food like this would cost at least two to three hundred dollars in California! For the price we are paying and the quality we are receiving, this is absolutely outrageous. I'd really like to see São Paulo's state government clean up its act and do more for the city, because there's no reason it shouldn't be a top tourist destination. I'm not much of a foodie, so it's nice having friends who are. You can just trust their recommendations and go along for the ride!!
