I got the chance to visit Mayer Fabrics during their annual "Zero Landfill" event and all I can say…read moreis WOW. Despite being held in their back warehouse, everything was clean and organized, and the staff were very helpful in getting my things weighed and loaded in to my vehicle. The "Zero Landfill" event is designed to put materials donated by local area designers, dealerships, businesses, and sales reps in to the hands of crafters, collectors, artists, etc. to upcycle and/or repurpose discontinued or unused samples of various mediums. Offerings included things such as flooring, framing materials, tiles, and all kinds of fabric - all free. At the end, they weigh your haul and tell you how many pounds of materials you saved from the landfill. I am very pleased with my 120 pounds of velvet squares, curtain panels, carpet squares, and various other goodies that I was able to score. Being a curator of textiles, this event was right up my alley. To hear that almost 12,000 pounds of materials were saved from the landfill just at this event was awesome. I cannot wait to make upcycled pillow covers, table cloths, and who knows what else with my new-to-me beauties!

I wish I had written a review sooner, but there's still time to check out this little yarn shop! I…read moreinitially visited as part of the Roving Indiana Yarn Crawl in 2019. The shop is a little tucked away, but not too hard to find. They will be closing soon (by end of this month, I believe), but as of today still had quite a bit in stock. Lots of pretty natural fibers, some locally dyed, as well as some synthetics. A bit of spinning fiber, lots of notions, a few kits, project bags, many books and magazines. Check the back for deals! They also have an adorable fiber scene in the planter out front, that has changed with the seasons.

Came here to buy stuff for my son's senior night, particularly for balloons. I checked out the…read moreballoon section by the checkout counter, and they had a large foil basketball balloon which was $12. I found a clearance section in the back of the store. I love clearance so I started rummaging through it. I felt really lucky because I found a smaller foil basketball balloon for $2. I also found a spa headband for $1, these are so useful when I'm washing my face so I couldn't pass it up. I was at the self checkout ringing my items up, and I had asked the worker if I could bring the balloons back to get aired up. She informed me if I took the balloons out of the store and brought them back it was an extra charge- $10 for the large foil balloon and $7 for the smaller foil balloon. That's extremely expensive! I'm so thankful I asked because she told me that I could finish my transaction and then she could make an order for me to pick up my balloons another day, thankfully I didn't need them the same day and I'm thankful she provided me with that information as I would have not been happy being charged that fee. I came back the day I said I would to pick up my order, and I also needed some latex balloons as well. Every color I needed in singles was available except black. I had to purchase a whole pack of black balloons, and I had them air 2 of them up. The pack of black latex balloons was $2.99, and to air each black latex balloon was $1.99. I was only charged the purchase price of the other single latex balloons, those didn't have a fee to get aired up. It was very inconvenient that they didn't have any single black latex balloons and more expensive. It's probably better to plan ahead with balloons and know exactly what you are paying for. The man working the counter aired up the latex balloons I requested, but it did take some time and another worker had to help check other people out who did not want to use the self check out.

It ranges from $5 to $50 and many are around $20 or $30. It was interesting to see all the options! I would have liked a few $10 options but we settled on two things each as a celebration. You pay and then they set up yup with a table and brushes. They have paint labeled with colors as well and a multitude of stencils and stamps plus other gadgets that you can use for your creation. They mentioned several times that you need to paint everything three coats in order to have a vibrant color. I will say that takes much more time than one would think so definitely give yourself time to paint several layers without rushing. My only other thought was next time I would pick a bigger object for our small ones to do as opposed to the tiny hand. Painting was very frustrating for them. We were able to help, but next time e Id pick only big easily painted objects. It was a fun airy spot with lots of tables and creativity abounded! Once you are done they fire your objects and you come back later to pick them up. I would definitely go back and try something else with friends or for a date night even.

Even so,…read morethere's plenty of tables and seating so we had no issues with finding a spot and painting for hours. When you come in it will probably take you some time to first pick an item to paint. They have a variety of options to choose from with various price points. The price includes all the materials and supplies as well as the glazing process and the excellent service you receive. They do a great job with labeling paints, having different size brushes, switching out jars of water, and checking on you throughout the process. I will say that since it's best to paint 3 hours it takes a lot longer than you would think. So come with the mindset of getting lost in the therapeutic process of painting. We took 4 hours to paint our items. We will have to come back to pick up our items. They have a sign and provide clear communication on when to expect our items back. We had such a blast. I noted they have a party room that can be reserved so this would be a fun way to celebrate a special occasion! Will definitely be back to paint some more.
