Not much homework or know whats going on in school other then charity stuff going on. Oh they have plenty!! School safety is a huge concern here. They don't follow safety procedures because they say they have a few. I've put it to a test and past right tru it like nothing. However My kids have had a few decent caring teachers that Im very grateful for many left already but a few are still there. Parking is minimal, the after school pick up is ALWAYS chaotic. Arrive early, secure close parking and you're fine. Drop off is crazy, as well. Mainly because not all the parents follow the rules and think their child is the only one getting dropped off. Mrs. Ortega (the new principal) is stern and fair. They get up excited to go to school which says much for the teachers and staff. Stuckey has the usual grade school stuff-big yard, playground equipment, etc. and any time I have come to pick kids up after school there is always someone out front ready to pounce on tiny miscreants, aleways reminding the kids to cross at the cross walk. I feel good that someone is keeping an eye on the kids. I realize other schools do thisI want to remark on how appreciated their vigilance is...and how good we feel about this grade school.

My son has been attending Sandoval a few years now. Sandoval is a little strange. The classes are grouped so for example 1,2 and 3rd graders are all lumped together for 3 years. I did question this method, but the bright side is that it creates some stability in class mates and teachers. It's half Spanish speaking which I feel is a mixed blessing as well. My son is learning two languages but I am afraid he may end up a "jack of all trades master of none" but the verdict is still out. The school is kind of hard to get into, so I think the parents and kids seem to take learning a little more seriously at this school.
