Got my Toilet Paper supply run for my dad and also some delicious beef jerky too!
    Daniel D.

First time coming to Vigils Beef Jerky shop. I've had their jerky through other retail shops but never actually went to their own place. I saw on their Facebook page that they were offering a case of toilet paper (24 pack) with the purchase of their 8oz jerky. I'll be honest at first I thought it was just a joke gag seeing as everyone is going on a toilet paper hoarding spree so I called prior to leaving to awkwardly ask if it was legit. Sure enough it was. My dad said he was running low on TP so because of all the madness lately at the stores he's been unsuccessful finding some. I figured this was an opportunity to get some and help him out. I know how difficult it's been lately because of the Corona Virus scare. So I figured surprise him and make it easier for him. Plus spending extra time with him even if just for a few minutes was worth the trip. I love my dad! Soon as I arrived there was a line of people walking in after me. They only had 4 cases of TP left that was up for grabs so I grabbed one along with some jerky and headed straight for the register and made my purchase. The staff was polite and friendly. Admittedly I was a bit overwhelmed with the selection of different jerky's they had in stock. Maybe it was also because I was holding a big box and trying to decide what I wanted. It definitely was a tough call. I had not expected that large of a selection. Eventually I settled with the teriyaki flavor. My dad got his toilet paper and I got some tasty jerky! It was a win win! The jerky itself was a little tough to chew. I think because of the teriyaki itself when the meat was cooking it hardened the meat. Once you get past the initial first few bites it softens up and is quite delicious. I recommend if you get the teriyaki flavor breaking the large chunks of jerky up and eating it in smaller pieces because it requires a lot of chewing to soften it up. So expect a mouth full workout. The teriyaki flavor is very rewarding for all the effort. Price wise they are a little more expensive than your domestic Jack Links jerky but the quality makes up for the price. Plus it's local so you know you're getting true New Mexico essence! Next time I'm in the area might hit them up again and try another flavor not as tough on the mouth with less chewing effort.

Made me sick. Found two of the packages that weren't sealed properly. Now I have a huge hospital bill. Thanks Vigil's.

We were buying ground beef here. The price was 1.50 per lb. when we first bought. Great deal and the product was good. Then the price went to 1.99. Still a value so we kept purchasing even though it is a far drive. Today, April 17 2020 the price jumped to 3.49. Why? We checked sams club where we go every day and can buy it there and the price was lower, quite a bit lower actually. We like their product but this is our last trip there.

Delicious jerky but 4 stars because it's expensive. But they provide a great product.

Best carne seca around. Routinely bring this to friends all over the country. The green chile and butter mesquite are outstanding.

I've never been to their store but bought their Green Chile (carne seca) on Amazon a few years ago to try.

Very off-putting. No one was at the front of the store. We found our way to the back counter. After about five minutes a young man came out and asked what we needed. My wife said, "We need some sliced meats for a sandwich platter". The man went to the back for a minute and came out with a piece of scratch paper and pen. "Yes, we would like 1lb. of roast beef, 1lb. of ham and 1lb. of turkey for a sandwich platter", my wife said. He seemed a bit confused by our order, but began writing it down. He then asked, "Do you want smoked turkey"? "Oh yes", we said. I asked how thick their sandwich cut was and he replied, "Regular sandwich cut". I figured, okay this is Keller's, they certainly know what that is. We will have this ready in two days. That was fine as we knew they were very busy this time of year. I was excited when my wife picked up the order and returned home. I took the meat out to cut it up to fit the rolls we had. All of the three packages had meat sliced at over a quarter inch thick. That's sandwich sliced? The roast beef was very dry with no color to it. The ham was NOT ham, but some other pork cut with little pork taste and also very dry. The turkey was NOT smoked, but at least had good flavor and moisture. I was very disappointed considering Keller's reputation. Two notes: My ex-wife worked for Keller's in the 80s. She would bring home some of the best meats I had ever tasted. Secondly, a good friend of mine was the head chef at a well known sea food restaurant here in town. He once told me, "If you ever go to buy fresh fish and you smell ammonia when you walk in, turn around and walk out!" I am so disappointed with the service we got and the meat we ordered, I cannot see ever going back to Keller's.

I got ground beef and after I cooked and ate it I was instantly sick and had the most terrible food poisoning I've ever experienced. I had to go to the hospital because my fluids were severely low and I couldn't stop throwing up. I wasn't the only one to experience this because right after eating our dinner my boyfriend also started to feel terrible and he also got food poisoning. I don't know what is going on over there but there needs to be something done about this ! I have never fallen ill in a matter of minutes and spend a night in the hospital because of ground meat . Do better !

I knew this would be good because there was a big group of people from the airbase and that's always a good sign. They seem to make the most out of their lunch time. It was a long line but the counterman handled it with great speed. The guy in front of me comes in to buy sausage and fresh mozzarella to make his own homemade calzones. I chose the full size italian beef and the other sandwich we got was mostly veggies and mozzarella(I can't remember the name). While we waited for the sandwiches we perused the baked goods and the italian market with tons of sauces, frozen foods, cheese and delicious baked goods. The sandwiches were huge and delicious. Even as a big a guy as I am I could have done with the half size, but I did end up eating the second half for dinner. The sandwiches are on soft, delicious hoagie rolls. The italian beef was stuff with beef and gardinera. The juices of the meat and the gardinera leaks into the botoom of your tray and almost makes a french dip like sauce. This place is fantastic!!!
