I visited Karaoke Box last night with a few of the Yelp Birmingham crew and was not disappointed…read more The many themed rooms make it hard to decide which space you want to use and cater to parties of three right up rooms that could easily take twenty. The rooms themselves are all comfortable with good karaoke equipment including wireless mics, touch screen tvs to select the music and large screens to display the lyrics to your chosen songs......obviously I could not resist a few diva number with Whitney and Cher being firm favourites from myself and Adam S! One really good thing about this place is that the bar prices are pretty standard and what you would expect from a normal bar/pub in the area. Usually places like this have stupidly high bar prices so that was pretty refreshing....and very welcome! If you are looking for a good night out with the boys, girls or whoever I would recommend heading to Karaoke box.....this place would be 100% perfect for birthdays, hen do's or people just looking for something that little bit different on the weekend :)

You aren't doing it right if your night out on Broad Street doesn't end with Chris Cornell-esque…read moreshredded vocal cords, hearing loss, and at least one video of you on Facebook doing something embarrassing. Fortunately I was able to tick off all of these at a recent Yelp Social event at Karaoke Box. The nascent venue is located off Broad Street in the Regency Wharf area. The space opens to a bar that stocks a moderate selection of beer and cider, several wines, and spirits. There is plenty of room in this lobby to hang out with friends while waiting on everyone to arrive. The Karaoke Box is laid out with two hallways, with private rooms on each side. Unlike pub karaoke, the only audience here is those you choose to witness your shame. Each room carries a theme, some that repeat on either hallway. The grand dame of the box is their large London Underground themed room that can fit a sizable crowd. Karaoke here is state-of-the-art, with lyrics displayed on large LED screens set into the wall. A control panel allows for the selection of songs. Their library is very comprehensive, and while lacking in the latest top 100, has pretty much any song from the naughts and before worth singing. Up to two mics work in each room, and vocal controls help disguise my crow like crooning. The venue hosts a limited food menu where you'll find a lot of fried from frozen snacks. Honestly, I would suggest eating before or after, as the foods are a bit overpriced and not too tasty. The bar prices are somewhat reasonable depending on what you order. Basic beers and wines are a value, but steer clear of the liquor. My time spent at the Karaoke Box was some of the most fun I've had in Brum so far this year. The prices to rent each room may cause sticker shock, but they aren't too bad when split evenly amongst friends. Overall, Karaoke Box is definitely worth a second look.

I recently had a disappointing experience with Royal One Karaoke Bar in Birmingham that I feel…read morecompelled to share. I called to request a karaoke room for eight people for a birthday celebration on behalf of a Chinese partner on the 16-10 at 18:24. When I first called, a lady answered the phone and upon hearing an English accent she passed the phone to a gentlemen. I explained clearly the date and number of people wanting to book the room. Almost immediately, I was told they were fully booked and no rooms were available for the chosen date (18-10 at 2100) I accepted this at the time. However, I had a gut feeling that they hadn't checked availability and had automatically said they're full due to my being an English person so I had to break the potential surprise plans to my partner and had asked them to call up and request a room for the same date and time, they called shortly after and little to my surprise and a conversation held in Mandarin, the room was booked without a problem. This made me feel like because I was speaking in English, I was not given the same level of service or respect. The difference in treatment because of language or perceived ethnicity feels discriminatory and racist. It is unacceptable to deny service or mislead customers based on such factors. I simply wanted to make a booking to make a loved one happy, but this experience has left me very upset and disappointed with the Royal One Karaoke Bar. I hope the management takes this complaint seriously and addresses the unacceptable treatment I experienced

If your idea of the perfect party is a private affair where you and your friends can get drunk and…read moresing out of tune, then China Court Karaoke is the place for you. This place has a selection of private booths up for hire which accommodate large groups, meaning you can mark special occasions in individual style. I'm aware some people detest karaoke, I am not one of those people and I love the whole concept of this place, although I did miss the familiar feeling of embarrassment as I howled away in front of friends rather than a room full of strangers. They have a great selection of cocktails here, on top of the fact that they are open all week long and until five in the morning, so the party needn't stop too early. This place is quite simply great fun, so don't miss out!

I sing like a strangulated skunk at best. However it was an occasion I could not get out of easily , so I opted to drink copious amounts of alcohol prior and during the proceedings and stay as far from a microphone as possible. The building looked great from the outside, and was set back from the main road, but fairly easy to find. Once inside I was suprised how elegant it all was, I expected complete tack really but it was kind of plush and cheesy yes but not in an O.T.T way ( you kind of laughed with it not at it). We were led to a side room and seated around a table. I was relieved to see the walls were thoroughly soundproofed. The pricing structure of this place is a little difficult to understand, basically you have to guaruntee a minimum food spend for the room - which varies as to the day of the week and the time. But also you then have to choose from a set menu - and there is a minumum order number for each choice. It did take us all a while in our inebriated state to get our heads round - but basically you end up with a table filled with food and everyone digs in!!! It cost us around £30 a head - with drinks but the food was exquisite, plentiful, and you have to remember we were in a private room. By the time we had finished eating and drinking we then had an hour on the karaoke system. Everyone was laughing so much by this stage that even the mic shy had a go ( yes even including me!). I am not sure I would stand in front of a room of strangers and subject them to my warblings - but for 12 of my good mates - I gave it a good go. When our time was up we could retire to a good sized lounge bar with you have guessed it more karaoke!! Not a karaoke convert - but would recommend for amusement value alone.

You'll each get a plate of rice which they'll offer to refill at a later point, and then the dishes are put on the table for everyone to dig in to. Honestly I can't think of anything that stood out as being amazing, just that it was all tasty. I would have liked more noodles though it's possible that we may have picked a menu option with rice instead of noodles which could explain it. Can't comment on drinks because I had lager which is what it is. Karaoke was pretty strange but we had fun doing it - in the main restaurant not the karaoke rooms. I probably wouldn't come here again but it was a good place to go with a big group.
