But when they got here, they scoured the place, going so far as to dust the deepest recesses of the wine rack. That's why I'm motivated to be somewhat generous and give the company one whopping star in my review. Because it was all downhill from there. The next time they came to clean our home, they did a fair job. They dusted, but didn't really clean. Two weeks later, they broke our coffee pot. Two weeks after that, they broke a cabinet in the kitchen, tossed dirty baby bottles in a dishwasher filled with clean dishes, and used a drinking glass in the bathroom to mix a cleaning solution. Now, we could excuse the broken coffee pot and the inconsistent scheduling. But we couldn't get past the close call I had when I went to take my vitamins with what smelled like a glass of bleach. When we contacted the owner of the company to cancel our cleaning arrangement with him and get our house key back, he apologized and scheduled a time when he would return the key. He never came. We arranged another time. He never came. We arranged another time. He never came. In the end, because of Alliance Cleaners we had to buy a new coffee pot, fix the kitchen cabinet, and change all the locks on the house. We hired Alliance based on the recommendations of our neighbors. We don't want anyone to make the same mistake we did.

Literally had the worst experience with them that I had to create a yelp account just to write this. Me and my roommate received a promotional card that said "25 dollar cleanings!". We have a very small apartment and we only wanted 3 tiny rooms cleaned as a one-time thing so we could start the month off fresh. As soon as the cleaner arrived I knew we had made a mistake. She brought her ~10 year old daughter with her, and said her daughter doesn't understand english and that she had trouble communicating herself, WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE if not for what happened after, but it was honestly horrible & weird watching a little girl mop, anyway, about 45 minutes in, the mother handed me a cell phone and apparently it was her boss telling me the bill I received on the app was not correct and 70 dollars needed to be added to it since it was our first cleaning. I was extremely confused and asked her to further explain but she just repeated it and said, "don't worry it's a one time thing". Then the cleaner herself started saying the same thing repeatedly as I looked at her confused. How was I suppose to say "Okay no!" and kick these people out of the house after 45 minutes????? I planned to call back to at least understand the extra charge, but I would NOT have been writing this review if there was just that charge and no other issues. The mother and daughter left an hour later, the place was only cleaned on the surface, (floors were washed, counters were wiped, that's about it) I would have been unsatisfied regardless, but for the fact that I ended up being charged ~180 (I really thought it was going to be ~85) for 3 rooms you can hardly even spread your arms in is ridiculous. (The kitchen is 1/4 of the living-room, the bathroom is a short hallway w a toilet, and my bedroom is a small boston college apartment bedroom :,( ) The worst part so far is that I called to ask about the fee and possibly fight it only to find out that we are FORCED to have 3 more of these overpriced and suspicious cleanings. Zyp has been messaging me for months now brining up that the next cleaning is coming and I have to keep calling, asking to speak to a manager, and putting off these overpriced and unprofessional cleanings. I got a text at 11 pm last night asking if I was "ready to resume my cleaning for tomorrow". The whole thing is a nightmare. Stay away!!!

When I called to complain and ask for a refund, their customer service said they couldn't refund but could send a cleaner to deliver the service I ordered in the first place, with no extra charges. So I accepted it. However, a few days later I found out that they had charged me the price of the full service again, without me knowing it at all. If I hadn't checked my credit card records, I probably wouldn't even notice this second charge. Their customer service was really hard to communicate with as well. So if possible, don't choose this company. If you choose to work with these people, be very careful and double check how much and how many times they charge you.

I specifically asked that the tops of the cabinet doors be cleaned and was assured that essentially everything that could be cleaned would be cleaned. After the first cleaning, I found grease on cabinet surfaces, dirty floors, and several other missed areas. The company scheduled a re-clean, acknowledging that this was unusual and that the cleaner was "having a bad day." I again pointed out the missed areas, including the tops of the cabinet doors, but the second cleaner arrived without a ladder or step stool and asked if I had one to borrow. Even after the re-clean, many of the same areas remained dirty. The company ultimately issued a full refund, which I appreciate. However, I still spent hours cleaning the apartment myself to the standard I expected from a professional cleaning service using nothing more than basic cleaning supplies that I purchased at Home Depot. I was able to clean every area I had identified as needing additional attention without specialized products or equipment. Given the company's consistently positive reviews, I was honestly in disbelief that this was my experience. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Fenway Cleaning Services for a move-in deep clean.
