I'll be honest: I don't go to hair salons very often. I get it trimmed when I need to, but the few occasions where I've had it restyled, I've spent the whole of the following week in tears and a hat.
However, a little while ago I was feeling pretty fed up and decided it was time for a new look. I was feeling brave so I didn't find a picture of what I wanted to look like; I was so desperate for a change that I thought I'd let the stylist to do whatever she thought best.
Choosing Vidal Sassoon was pure impulse on my part. I had just left the toilets in the Capitol Centre saw Vidal Sassoon opposite and thought, why not?
Vidal Sassoon is one of those intimidating looking salons - lots of mirrors, lots of rich looking people, lots of products that you know you can't afford because you've never seen them in Asda, and it's a little on the pricey side, but it's well worth it if you want a little pampering. You get coffee while you're waiting, a head massage after your hair is washed - everyone treats you like you're their most valued customer.
The staff here were all lovely, constantly checking on how my "big chop" was going and offering support and sharing ideas. Everyone was upbeat and happy and could easily convince you that sweeping the hair off the floor was the most exciting job in the world with the way they approached every aspect of their job. The whole experience was enjoyable, and, unlike other hair salons, I felt completely at ease and their excitement about my new hair style rubbed off on me.
If you're a poor student, this probably isn't the place for regular appointments, but it's perfect if you want to treat yourself or someone else, and I'll definitely be going again. read more
