Because hello, Segways are a TON of fun, and a great way to get up close to attractions without having to walk or being stuck on a bus! However, this tour in particular wasn't one of the better ones we've been on. Because the storage/training area is in a parking garage, you meet your guide outside a nearby restaurant so they can take you into the alley and down to the secret Segway closet (seriously DOWN a massive ramp, which may be intimidating for inexperienced riders). The instructions explicitly state that restrooms are available inside the restaurant...but for a 10am tour, they're not open yet. Luckily, the Panera next door was happy to give us the code for their restrooms. The Segways themselves have obviously seen WAY better days. Our guide apologized for being late due to having to inflate the tires, but the handlebars were banged up, my Segway made a constant clanking/rattling noise from one wheel, and the guide ended up riding one with a low battery because no others with fully inflated tires were available. The available helmets were in similar rough condition. While our guide was friendly enough, knew the basic spiels for the stops, and even texted me in advance of the tour to confirm we knew where we were going (and when he was running late), he also seemed pretty lackadaisical (although pleasant) and didn't wear a helmet. I was also annoyed that, for some reason, we didn't receive the waivers via email ahead of time, so we had to fill them out on the guide's phone. In hindsight, he wasn't checking anything, so I should've just lied and said we'd already signed... On the upside, we were the only two people signed up, so we got a longer tour and more stops that we would have otherwise. Since we've ridden Segways before, we also got to skip the training -- we just hopped on and demonstrated that yup, we know what we're doing. A vast improvement over watching 10+ people slowly get the hang of it! And of course, we really enjoyed seeing a wide variety of Denver spots up close and personal, and learning at least a little bit about some of them. So while you can't ever really go wrong with a Segway tour, definitely head into this one with open eyes about what to expect.

I took a trip back to Denver to visit friends and family over Labor Day weekend. You meet at the visitor center at 16th and California where you will get an individual tutorial on how to ride the Segway before heading off on the tour. I'm so glad they did the tutorial one person at a time, so give us a chance to get really comfortable on the Segway before we committed to two hours of zipping around the town. Our tour guys did a great job breaking down how to safely operate the Segway and I immediately was comfortable and ready to go! We zipped around checking out the sites and our guides did a great job navigating downtown during both a Rocky's game and the taste of Colorado! Crowds everywhere and there were no problems. My favorite part of the tour was when we were really cruising down the sidewalk parallel with the Platt river. I lived in downtown Denver for five years, but moved away six years ago so it was great seeing how much of it changed and what stayed the same. The guide and I had a fun time comparing facts and information about different historical spots in Denver. You can have up to 4 people in your tour group, and there is a guide in front and in back so we stay together as a group. Their website says they may be able to accommodate larger groups if you call way in advanced, but the standard is up to four. Very chill guy who knew his way around the bike and the area…read more Communication with the company/guide was fantastic and they were very responsive, even giving me a discount after I forgot to enter the discount code and later refunding some of the cost due to technical difficulties with the bike. However there were some pretty severe technical issues with the bike itself: the gearing was WAY off leading to some people having all the resistance and others barely being able to do anything. This meant we barely moved faster than a brisk walking pace (our friend actually managed to keep up with us during a phone call walking along the sidewalk!). This also fed into a secondary issue where the board above near your knees was a bit too close and, especially with little resistance, it was all to easy to smack into it hurting yourself. Lastly adjusting the seats was a bit difficult. For the amount of money I expected a bit more direction and time but you can only drink so fast. The tours listing 3-4 stops on their site seem ambitious even with a faster vehicle. In two hours we managed to hit two breweries. While we had a good time and the bike made for a fun team experience we could've just as easily have walked the whole thing. I'd home in the future they can make the experience a bit more worth the cost. We saw many of these types of tours in the RINO district where the breweries are closer together and the roads less intimidating/car-filled so that might be a better area for this.

To redeem the groupon you will have to email them from the website, and do a little back and forth on date/time selection. They can be a bit slow to respond but its not bad. Just make sure to plan in advance! Day of you meet them at Blake st Tavern. The downstairs area has a nice gameroom and specials to get the party started. From there you bike to three bars (of your choice) and you get about 20-30min at each bar. I am sure you have seen these cruising around and the tons of fun people are having on them...it really is that fun!! They also have ipod/aux hookups for the sound system so you can play whatever you want. At the end you come back to Blake st Tavern (for a total of 5 bar stops) and then get a nice group photo...They dont allow booze one the bike bar, but you can bring Nalgenes so wink wink! Dont forget to tip the driver too..they always do an awesome job.

My CrossFit crew decided to rent one yesterday to celebrate the upcoming nuptials of two of our members. They have you gather in the lower level of Blake Street Tavern where they have $3.00 drink specials for Bud/Coors. I opted for a craft beer instead and paid full price. Our driver came down to get us all loaded on the patio with our cooler full of beer and helped stow away our purses and what not. That's when things started cranking. The beer was flowing into our solo cups and the music from one of our iPods was blaring through the speakers. Time to get this party started!! There are 11 seats to pedal, 5 lounger seats to relax and we even managed to get 3 people in the middle to have a quasi dance party. Definitely get ready to work as that ride is not going to get up those hills on it's own. Even with all the pedaling, we hardly noticed we were breaking a sweat due to the sheer entertainment factor. We only ended up making it to two breweries (Epic & Black Shirt), but we enjoyed every second of it. We even got our driver to shake his groove thang and we all played Chinese fire drills at red lights. I would highly recommend checking it out! I can't wait to do it again soon!!!
