I was looking to take a walk, and this is perfect! It's by the Haggin Museum, has a rose garden, has a playground, has a lake, and there are lots of people walking around or laying down or watching their kids' sports practices.

Quick note: not a local...on a short trip to Stockton while I finish my clinical rotations. After a long day I needed to find a place where I could walk off all the stress from the day and clear my head. I found this through Yelp and the reviews held up. The park felt safe with many families around, kids biking, teens playing basket ball. There were people from all different age groups and many were with their dogs too!! Features I liked - free parking around the park - beautiful like pond with fountain and ducks (see picture) - paved paths for walking/running/biking or for strollers. -playground for kids. Highly recommend!

This is such a cute park! Large with lots of space to run the dogs or kids. There's a playground for the children as well as a baseball field and basketball court. There are a lot of picnic tables as well. Perfect for family reunions or birthday parties. It's so charming with all the tree's, ducks and lake-with Haggin museum nestled in the middle. What I love most is the mile long trail that circles the park. It gets busy in the morning with runners and speed walkers. With the exception of dodging doggie doo here and there (this could be alleviated if there were stands with baggies for owners to pick up their mess) this park is near perfect. There is an automated bathroom thats very clean for my 8 am walks as well as a fire station. All of this is centered in the cutest most quaint neighborhood. I'm so happy I found this little treasure.

This park I love a lot. I come here when I want to get some fresh air and just walk around Victory park. The park has a swimming pool, museum, playground, tennis courts and baseball diamonds. This park is always jammed packed with people. All kinds of stuff happens here soccer games and good little league baseball games. They have two small little ponds and their beautiful. I really do like coming here with my kids and just feeding the ducks. It's just a wonderful feeling, I get here. I just sit back and sit on bench and take it all in. . .Vincent D *VD* Life is Beautiful

When I was a kid you could rocket to the moon here. No lie... When I was younger they used to have a metal rocket ship on the playground that had a slide on one side and if you kept climbing up you could sit in the top of the rocket...maybe 20 feet off the ground. For a little kid it was amazing. Victory Park is a jewel in the City of Stockton. With two ponds, the Haggin Museum, and a beautiful rose garden. For the longest time there used to be an American Indian totem pole named "Tagcook" on the Northeast corner that stood for 60 years until it had to be taken down because of wood rot. At one time I used to swim here at Victory Park...there was a swimming pool on the South side of the park...does anyone know if it is still there? I have also been to many a free summer concert in this park...nothing better than good, free music. This is a spectacular park that I would feel safe having my kids someday play in and around...hopefully they will be able to rocket to the moon as well. :0)

    Such a nice day!

The rose garden was pretty. I enjoyed the park on a beautiful day with happy people. What could go wrong?

Kewl park! Just went walking / jogging this morning. You'll see people of the same motives going around the park in the morning or evening.

Ask the Community - Victory Park

What is the history of Victory Park's name?

Is the park walk a mile around?

From what I've heard, it's a mile if you walk the entire perimeter, then up to the museum and back down.

I wanted to have a child's birthday here with jumpers and such. But I have been told you have to pay to reserve the area? Is this true I thought it was free at most public parks

I'm sure you know by now but yes it's 55$ to rent a picnic site you just go down to Caesar Chavez library. Sounds like a pain but good idea to get guaranteed spot if you are planning ahead

Are there basketball courts here and do they usually get used?

Yes right behind the fire house/pool area

    Can you fish?

    No you can't

American Legion Park is probably the iconic park of Stockton. I'm not saying it's the best park,…read morebut it is the park that most resembles "old" Stockton in that the entire city used to congregate here for the 4th of July decades ago. First, Stockton wasn't always on the wrong side of a population 350k or more. I remember when we were about half that in the early 80's. This park was the premiere location to hang out and just relax. There really isn't much for facilities here. There is basketball, a kids playground and that's about it. The grassy bank protecting the 'hood from flooding is kinda cool because it provides an interesting pathway around the park and the Smith Canal. There are some concrete tables and benches if you want to throw a quick BBQ or just share some beers during COVID. You can fly a drone and get some great pics of Stockton from about 500 feet. You can throw a frisbee and lose in said Canal. You can talk a dog for a nice walk around and double back or shoot all the way to Pershing and make a loop. In short, this isn't the largest, most beautiful, or even the best facilites, but the location matters and this place used to the heart of Stockton when times were a lot better (kid of the 80's, greatest decade ever)!

I visited this park on mother's day. They do have lots of green grass area, a lake or the pond ...I don't know if that's the body of water from the delta. Anyway, it's a cool spot to take the family to, if you don't want to go to the sometimes overcrowded Victory Park down the street.

While waiting we decided to hit range balls. Could we, NOPE. Range closes at noon on Sundays. JOKE. We finally got a cart and tee'd off. The play was painstakingly slow and we made it 7 holes before our cart died and we had to call and have another brought out. This took nearly 30 minutes to accomplish. We talked to the young kids running the place this day and I told them that they need to talk to their management and get this place in order. Their response, we don't have any management. Clearly obvious from what occurred! We played out the front side and left as the pace was so slow and there was no marshal to help push groups. The group in front of us were playing and hitting like 3 balls off every tee. Ever since you all upped your prices to a ridiculous amount this place has gone downhill. I now know why. We will NOT be coming back out here again and I am sharing this experience and encouraging others to place elsewhere all over social media. I hate to see a course close (city) or not get play but this place clearly needs attention and it is not getting it!

There are a good handful of rental spots when it comes to table areas. There are a lot of geese and ducks so be careful where you step throughout your visit. There is some permitted fishing with license as an option. I thought that certain areas walking through the trails could have been a little bit more maintenance especially with trash, cans and benches to sit down on that are located throughout. They do not permit dogs to be on the trails, but throughout we notice that was ignored as there were a lot of dog markings left and not picked up by the owners. There are also a few playgrounds and restroom areas located throughout, as well as what look to be like a little hall that you could rent with a deck access. if you're ever interested in doing the trails, both of them together were just under 2 miles long. This location was very close to home so therefore convenient they have a nature center but it's only open on Saturdays and there's also a little informational booth located explaining a little more about the nature center. decent spot to have birthday parties or celebrations staged here. There's also an amphitheater that seats about 400.
