First, let me say I did not seek the services of Top Hill Landscaping (Jamarcus Wallace). I was minding my business, and he came knocking at my door. After I decided to accept their services (my first mistake), the price changed more than once, and only higher and higher, of course. Initially, the services were being performed well. Things were going as expected even though it was much higher than originally quoted. After some time Jamarcus Wallace came to my door for payment (after asking for more money), I gave him the payment (my second mistake). He and his team continued working for 20-30 minutes, then left without completing the job. My yard and even worse, my neighbor's yard, was left a complete mess. They left an entire tree in my backyard just lying there; the tree they cut up was thrown in the bushes in my backyard. Multiple branches, large and small, were dropped over the fence into my neighbor's yard. I contacted Jamarcus Wallace about the condition of the yards. He stated he would be back the next day, and I believed him (my third mistake). Of course, he did not show up the next day and has not been back since. I tried to contact them for the better part of 3-4 days, but they never responded. Accepting services from Top Hill Landscaping (Jamarcus Wallace) has cost me a great deal of money and caused trouble with my neighbors. Just be aware and do not trust them if you decide to do business with Top Hill Landscaping (Jamarcus Wallace).

I contacted them, and they went out the same day and took care of it. Excellent communication, and I felt like I found a great tree contractor in Memphis. I even recommended them to my property manager. Unfortunately, when I hired them for another fallen limb in July, things went quite differently: We agreed to a price to remove the second limb (to the curb) and to an additional price to dispose of the shed that limb had fallen on. Once they were onsite to do this on 7/17, they advised me that the shed would require a second trip to the dump - alleging that not all of the shed would fit into their trailer in one trip. While I could not imagine how small their trailer must have been, I knew that the shed was not large. But they were nice enough to only be charging me for what they claimed was just the dump fee ($75) and nothing for themselves. Given our past experience, I approved this and immediately paid them. The following day, they specifically referred to the shed in their email to me: "Just wanted to update you that we completely removed the shed..." There was nothing about anything still pending. I thought that everything was completed, as contracted for. But: On 7/31, my PM advised me that the tenant advised them that 901TK had left some debris in the front yard (not the curb,) promised (two weeks earlier) to come back, but hasn't, and is not answering the PM's calls. I immediately emailed 901TK. I got an apology reply the following evening, explaining that they had a trailer issue, and chiefly ending with: "So if everything goes as planned we should be able to get over there tomorrow or Saturday at the latest..." But: (Because Yelp appears to have a character limit, the rest has been much shortened): 901TK broke the above promise, as well as specific promises they made on 8/8, then (after each subsequent tenant complaint, and, except for once, with no updates that they would/did not make it) also on 8/12, 8/13, and 8/20 - this one, after being advised that another contractor would be hired at their expense. (Important note here: When the third-party contractor provided his quote, he included some photos. One of them showed a side of a metal shed on the ground in the backyard. As such, among other things in my August 19 email to 901TK, I mentioned that if I were to make a legal claim against them, I would include a count of fraud. To be clear: proving that in a court of law is another matter. But they did quote me a price to dispose of the shed, then added an additional price to complete that specific task that had previously stated the cost of, then specifically claimed to have completed that task, but, evidently, not having done so in fact at the time they made that claim - all the while knowing that I am thousands of miles away.) 901TK responded to that "threatening" and "not necessary honestly" (their words) email on the morning of 8/20, promising to, "get over there today to get what's left in the backyard, which is not much at all. I will send you pictures once we are done." I agreed to that, but, as stated above, they did not fulfill again. And they are past the deadline to acknowledge to pay my third-party expense. As of this writing, 901 Tree King is listed here as "Veteran-owned" - I was not aware that they are veterans. I would also like to point out that there are also two negative reviews about this business here that Yelp is currently "not recommending."

Arbor MD Tree Care was by far the greatest resource I could've asked far to do the job I needed…read more My small kitten, Milo, was stuck very high in a tree for over a day. I had exhausted all local resources - the Animal Humane Society, the Fire Department, etc - and was unsuccessful and losing hope. I called Arbor MD, however, and they were extremely willing and eager to come help. Both the owner and another employee showed up within an hour, with more than sufficient gear to do the job. They were friendly, helpful, and quick with the entire process. They ended up having to use a harness to get into the tree and get Milo down. While this was something I clearly would never have been able to do, they did it with ease. I honestly could not have asked for a better experience. These men were very generous with their time and graciously did something outside of their typical services. I highly recommend them for all tree service needs. They went above and beyond for me, and I know they will do the same for others in Memphis as well! Thanks again, Arbor MD!

A few weeks ago on a Friday, my lawn was cut and then a week later, they were back to cut the yard again. I was on a bi weekly schedule and they came out just a week later when the yard was cut and did not need cutting again so soon. I contacted Erika at Herndon Brothers Lawncare about my concerns and she said she would speak with Conley about the unscheduled and unauthorized service. I did not hear back from her and saw that my credit card did get charged for the cut which was not needed and not scheduled. Herndon Brothers Lawncare has my credit card on file to bill when services are done, but not a random unscheduled cut and services unless authorized.I contacted Erika again at Herndon Brothers Lawncare and as I was explaining my problem I was interrupted because she had something to say before I was finished. I do not like to be rudely interrupted and did not appreciate the lack of respect. However, I addressed the problem and then was told that I would get a credit for the unscheduled mowing.The service from the people doing the mowing and edging was very good. My concern has to do with the conversation with Erika and their comment about my business as a customer. I understand that now Herndon Brothers Lawncare is taking on weekly mowing services, not bi weekly, but is allowing customers that were on bi weekly to retain those services. I was told by Erika that this was a confusion for the people scheduling the services because of getting behind or weather delays, etc, but that weekly was the direction they are taking now. When I saw the charge on my credit card, that is when I called back. I also said that Conley could call me if there were questions Then I said, just explain this to Conley and I won't have to go over all this a second time. Shortly after the phone call, I received a text from Erika saying that said Conley was made aware of the situation and that this situation and the mowing schedules has caused too much frustration. I'm sorry if I frustrated anyone if I was simply trying to get things done as agreed. So after several years of using Herndon Brothers Lawncare services, Conley said that it was best that I use someone else to cut and care for my yard which I have already done. I do surveys for all the companies that I work with, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, yard spraying, etc, and this is the first instance when the work was good, but the people dealing with the operation of the company were unprofessional, in my opinion, based on the responses from Erika and the difficulty to schedule bi weekly services and also from the lack of consideration and understanding from the owner, Conley, who I never spoke with but said that it was best that I find another lawn service company because this situation caused too much frustration. How people interpret others is their opinions, but constructive criticism should be acceptable by any company to retain business, not refuse business. Bookkeeping and scheduling were my primary concerns and because they are now changing their business model to weekly services for new customer, I guess I was frustrating to them because I just wanted fair and acceptable services based upon the contact agreement. Congratulations Erika and Conley for not providing a pleasant experience as I had hoped, but as I said, when I'm trying to explain my concerns, I do not like to be interrupted. I have located another lawn service company licensed and bonded and insured already and I will simply say that for an owner, Conley, to not contact me, the customer, to get information directly instead of second hand is unusual as my contacts with many many companies have been very pleasant and rewarding for these companies. I guess the 100% guarantee applies to customers tjhat are not frustrating to work with.
