I had hired A M Stoneworks for the countertops because they had a great selection of stone and…read moreoffered a competitive price. My kitchen cabinets were places oddly by the previous owner, with no room for any error, so I was asking from the start if it was an issue and was assured that there wasn't. The shop uses cutting-edge tools, pun intended, and weeks after the installation I still marvel at the precision of measurements and cuts. The sizing was precise to all the intricacies of my space. The pieces of stone that connected were sealed tightly, and the seam is hardly visible. The patterns on the mitered seam were done very nicely. The sink was installed together with the countertops, and it was mounted very securely. I'm very happy with the outcome.

I will give them this....they have access to beautiful cabinets/countertops. However, right now the…read moremain employee is ill (sorry) so you have to be extremely accommodating when making arrangements to sit down with them and go over what you want. Then, if you change your mind about what you do or don't want, or want to cancel, they've already had you sign an estimate and give a deposit (which is required immediately) and consider it a contract. Since they've already cashed your deposit, they keep a large portion of the deposit for themselves. (In our case it was $1,000. down, and they kept $300.00. which they said was for their time.) Again, we think they could've kept $200.00 for their time, but we were the ones who constantly had to jump around to accommodate them and THEIR time...we are busy people too...their penalty seemed excessive, especially since we canceled within the allotted time frame. Also, even though they claim their prices are competitive with other places, they actually are more expensive. Buyer beware: You will be given a verbal quote regarding a total cost of installation. However, when it comes down to it, different items have a installation cost worked into the prices, while others do not. So your actual contracts will be confusing and not actually have all of the costs up front. Sure, they have some mumbo-jumbo on labor for the cabinets, but it's still up in the air, and your total costs will more than likely jump up. The items that supposedly had the install/labor price worked in, is not broken down, so you really don't know how much you are paying for the items, and how much of that is for labor/install. I guess if money is no object, or you don't mind being taken advantage of, this process will work for you...it didn't for us.

Gary's cabinets We…read morelost our home in the Tubbs Fire and we're referred to Gary's cabinets by a good friend. Ernie (owner) started by meeting with us at his shop to go through "Cabinets 101." Although I had worked building cabinets for many years, I learned quite a bit from his presentation. Ernie asks pertinent questions on almost all aspects of the things people are looking for. His queries streamlined the process and helped guide our decisions. I think he goes through the process as much to help himself as to help his clients. No surprises make for a happy customer. They did our kitchen, utility/laundry room, pantry, 3 bathrooms, and a hall linen cabinet. There were some areas we had to work through, but when all is said and done, we are very satisfied. The cabinets are exactly what we wanted and the install is great. They finished up the job by doing a final run through making sure everything was in order. Their installer Shane is a wizard when it comes to installing and finishing. I recommend and would use them again.

I typically do not post online reviews, but the remarkable workmanship, attention to detail, and…read morepeerless customer service we received from Ernie and his team at Gary's Cabinets compels me to make this exception. Starting with Ernie's initial visit to our house, we knew we were in exceptionally good hands on a project that included full remodels of our kitchen and bathrooms. He spent quite a long time measuring our unusual layout and offering ideas and options based on our real-world use of the spaces, then continued to hear us out and adapt the particulars as he laid out our custom design. The quote was extremely reasonable, especially given the amount of cabinetry and additional panels involved, and Ernie repeatedly adapted to our evolving choices. And the work itself was all drop-dead gorgeous: perfect fits in our very imperfect, uneven old house, with precise lines, a solid feeling of quality, and beautiful finishes and woodgrain matches. Ernie's stated priority is to deliver a product that truly works for his clients and the way they live, and that's exactly what he did for us. As a result, we now have a stunning chef's kitchen that accommodates all our own idiosyncrasies and eccentricities, and bathrooms with "floating" vanities that visually and practically define those remodeled rooms and give us joy every day. I should note that our great experience with Gary's Cabinets followed two false starts with other companies, one with a big box home store and the other with a renowned local kitchen and bath remodeling specialist. The first would have provided us with standardized cookie-cutter cabinets that would never have fit quite right or worked quite right for us. The second would have used higher-quality but still mass-produced cabinets and a design that was more about the contractor's tastes and preferences than ours. By working with Ernie, we instead ended up with surprisingly affordable custom cabinets and storage solutions that anticipate needs we initially hadn't even identified. I cannot recommend these folks more highly, and would never consider anyone else for any future cabinetry work we might do.
