The food was delicious!!…read more We recently dined here for a work dinner and the food was fantastic! The entree calamari and the lamb rack were amazing. The salsa verde with the lamb was so good. I had the orange platter for dessert and it was outstanding. The pana cotta was as good a pana cotta that I have had ever. Also, the bread slice served before the meal was exceptional-proper bread The only thing that was a bit of a let down was the waiter didn't seem to know much about the menu. We had a couple of vegetarians with us and they asked him for some advice on their options and he was pretty much like "just the vegetarian tasting platter really". Given that their menu has boldly written on it that any menu item can be adjusted for dietary requirements, I thought there might have been a bit more from the waiter in terms of any dishes that could be altered or something. Instead he just said "we pretty much just take stuff out of the dish". The waiter was friendly enough but just didn't do a great job of selling such amazing food that was in offer.

I didn't mind it, but it didn't really stand out in the way that some other pubs have stood out in my mind. There were some good beers available on tap, and the service wasn't too bad either. Still, I can't really say that this was one of my favourites, but it still does have some charm, and I have to admit that I sort of liked it, but not too much.

Yeah, it's an old man's pub, so you probably know what to expect here. Actually, you can also expect them not to have a decent range of beers - just the substandard types that you tend to get in such pubs. Honestely, it really didn't have as much of a charm as some pubs have, so now that I've been here I can basically move on to some place else.

We then tried to get into Juana's Tacos but they had a one hour wait for seating and were no longer doing takeaways. So, my friend recommended the Village Belle Hotel as he said we were guaranteed to get a seat. The venue is massive with an upstairs, downstairs, and outdoor seating. They have a large cocktails menu and a succinct dinner menu. We decided to order a carafe of Pimm's cup as my friend likes gin and wanted a summery cocktail, the yuzu salmon to start off with, and the lamb shoulder for two as our main. The salmon yuzu arrived before our drinks. The cured salmon was served with grapefruit and pomegranate seeds. The taste was tangy, sour, and soy sauce like, but delicious. Pimms was overly sweet and I could barely taste the alcohol. The lamb shoulder was quite disappointing. Though the meat was tender and it was a large portion size served with crunchy broccoli, beans, brussel sprouts, and zucchini, it lacked flavour. I couldn't taste salt or pepper or anything and there was none on our table. I think it was just lamb cooked in its own juices and that's what we had been served. Quite disappointing.

Well, I asked the bartender who assured me that the beer had nothing to do with the hotel, and the only reason they were serving it was, well, because of the name. Located jut outside the MCG, many sporting folk will make there way here. So that's the vibe of the place - sports sport, everything sport. My first knowledge of Cricketer's Arms was the beer itself, a wonderful fruity brew the billboard told me I should get two of. I was so excited to find a pub with the same name I assumed they were related. It was not meant to be, while the vibe was nice, it was plane to see the two had little in common. There's nothing fruity about the pub. It's a simple, standup no-nonsense number that is a great place to have a quiet one in the off season.

My last visit; however, was a beautiful day and their outdoor seating area was like walking into a tropical beach party! They have a decent selection of beer on draft - Furphy's is always a good choice, cider available and a few pale ale choices. $5 pots & $10 pints. The bar staff were all very friendly too! If you're hungry for a heavy snack, go for the cheese chips (crinkled fried) with gravy on the side. Yum!

No joke, the mini-kitchen, patio, shower, balcony, TV, bookshelf, work space and bed even made me quiver with amenity-envy. I especially loved spotting the Alice In Wonderland touches around the hotel - from the 'Eat Me' magnets on the mini fridge to the small mirrored bunnies along the hallways and of course the Richmond prints on every wall. The entire theme was exceptionally well pulled-off. Though outside of Melbourne's CBD, the location is well connected by tram and the two restaurants downstairs (Classico and Fleur) along with the 24-hour room service menu and in room kitchen leave you little to want.
