If there was an option to give a no star rating to Victoria Eye and especially Dr. Behn, I would do it. I reported a problem two days. after cataract surgery, but any suggestions of a problem was dismissed and I felt I was talked down to by Dr. Behn. After many months of repeated visits I was told there was nothing they could do for me because they could not find a problem. When I went back to my optometrist he found that I had an epi retinal membrane. I put in a complaint with the College of Physicians and Surgeons and after many months of correspondence back and forth they wrongly sided with Dr. Behn. However, the complaint stays on his file and I suggest that anybody having problems put in a report to COPAS. It's a long process, but doctors that don't provide good medical care need to be taken to task. read more

Just absolutely disgusted with this eye clinic. My elderly mother came home after being contacted by them for a random appointment, making her feel like she was referred by another Doctor. As we found out in the end, they were not a referral. They apparently had her in their system from many many moons ago. They proceeded to tell her she should NOT be driving as she was going blind (she literally had just finished driving a truck and trailer from Palm Springs to Victoria with no issues). They also told her she had to have cataracts surgery and that would be $6000.00. They then tried to book her in for this procedure asap but also claim she was going totally blind, which makes you go hummmmmm. As she had just renewed her drivers license and had 20/20 vision, I of course instantly knew there was a serious issue here and had her contact her regular eye Doctor and go in for an appointment. SHOCKING SHE IS NOT GOING BLIND! PLEASE BEWARE AND KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR LOVED ONES THAT ARE VULNERABLE!!! read more

Absolutely awesome! I had both eyes done by Dr. Dam, and I couldn't be more pleased. I have worn glasses since I was 8, and I am now 77. I no longer need glasses for distance! For reading, yes, but that was my choice. Both Dr. Dam and Dr. Fukushima were amazing. Dr. Dam was very reassuring during the surgery, and I felt no pain or discomfort. I had double lens replacement surgery a year ago. I was told by Dr Behn that I would be able to read the back of a pill bottle after the surgery. Not true, I still needed glasses for reading paperback books after both surgeries. I paid privately $13,000 - and felt I was owed reading vision for that price. I was contacted by the office after both surgeries for feedback. My feedback was not good. When I went back for a check up I was treated like I was a trouble maker. In addition, Dr Behn is a touchy feely type of guy. I am 60 + years old and don't appreciate someone squeezing my arm. I certainly wouldn't send my granddaughter to see him. I asked them for a refund and got no response. Would suggest you use someone else. read more

Dr. Dam is a dedicated professional. Unfortunately, getting to her is a challenge. I have been a patient for several years and have witnessed a shocking decline in front desk competence. This is a reflection of our society, not the doctor. Dr. Dam is worth the effort. Maybe it is time to hire some seniors as receptionists. read more

AT LAST!!! After complaining several times about the front staff at Victoria Eye, including to their business manager on the last occasion, on my two visits on February 3 and 5, six months after my very successful cataract surgery on both eyes, I was greeted by two of the most charming receptionists I could ever wish to meet. Their were personable, efficient and polite. Well done. I must add that I have absolutely no complaints concerning Dr. Behn. He is a wonderful and very compassionate surgeon and always takes times to explain everything and answer questions. Not the case as i still need readers after a year for normal book type. I registered a complaint when contacted by their staff and was treated like garbage when I went down to the clinic for a post op appointment. I contacted them afterwards to register another complaint and ask for a refund -got NO response. in addition Dr Behn has a very touchy feeling type of approach - I would definitely not send my granddaughter there. I called to book an appt for laser surgery and was told by Melanie that I needed a referral. I had just received an eye exam in the USA and to get a local referral would mean another $100 out of pocket for me. I then called Lasik MD who booked my appt for the next day without any referral. I called back Victoria Eye and Melanie told me she had made a mistake and that no referral was required. She put me through to Caroline who said that Melanie had made a mistake and that a referral was required. These people are mixed up. I wouldn't feel comfortable having them perform surgery on me. It is very transparent that they are asking for the referral only so that they can optimize their revenue. read more

Have been several times and each time have had a somewhat rude receptionist. If it were just that I would go back but the women who do the eye exams there are insensitive and could use some cultural diversity training. Asian eyes are different, you can't just "open wider" and they accused my teen of not trying to open her eyes, one comment was "I doubt you are trying" (exact quote) plus one of them got quite angry. I will find another place to go for my family's eye care needs... read more
