I have a prescription that requires progressives or bifocals. I had been using reading glasses…read morebecause my last glasses, progressives, were difficult to see thru when going down stairs and such. That was before I met Brian and experienced the technology he uses. Wow These glasses are awesome, I could not be happier. The line between close viewing and distance cannot be discerned readily. I am impressed. The superior system he uses to measure eye focal points is beyond my keen but I am happy to reap the benefits. One hour optical this is not, personalized service resulting in quality lens I can live with, yea baby, and from and independent local business owner to boot.

MISTAKE. Unprofessional, incompetent, disrespectful. Took my favourite glasses for a tiny…read moreadjustment I thought a professional could do better than me. What a mistake! They just needed the tiniest of adjustment. Kevin who told me he had so many years of experience - was obviously offended when I said I didn't want the to be worse after bringing them in- because he then told me how many years ares of experience he had. But yeah, then calls me and says he broke my glasses, irreparably. Could not be fixed he said, by anyone. He relied on the sign at front that releases them apparently from liability right up front. Then when I picked up the pieces of my glasses I asked for a record of transaction. He pointed the baggy with the pieces of my glasses, and incredibly - says to me, "THERE's your record." Even though he had one written out right in front of me he refused to give me a receipt like " no charge" for example and what the outcome was. He said he was going to shred that record. Shred it!! He said, "WE have a record". What? And I was supposed to be grateful to him he said, because he did research for a half hour on how to fix them, so that was for free and I should be happy. When I pointed out that it was him who broke them, he said "No YOUR DOG broke them!" I mean, what do you say to that? Yes my dog sat on them- that's why I came in! My dog didn't "break them" - They weren't broken- I could have worn them, I could have tried making that tiny little adjustment on them myself. But yeah, bad decision. Then he decided to get really down and dirty and make it really personal- he told me he was SO SORRY that I came in today at all and I was the worst client ever. (Funny yeah, when I was there for eye exams or looking for glasses I wasn't the worst client ever- but now I'm street trash apparently). He barely gave me a card that I asked for to even know what the shop was where I had been. Ultimately absolutely refused to give me any record in writing. "That's your record" (pointing to the baggy with the pieces of my glasses). That's worth repeating, WOW. I'm so sorry I decided to try to give them a try. (Yes I've been there before and so yes I am an existing client and THAT's how you too can get treated if you decide to take a chance on Rx Eyewear in James Bay). So, Zero stars.

I feared that it might take a week to have them replaced during the era of COVID-19. I need my glasses to work at the computer. I did a search and found Goo Goo Goggles that repaired eyeglasses. I sent in an online request last night. This morning, I had a reply and an appointment time later in the morning. I am just returning from my visit to Goo Goo Goggles. I was greeted at the door by Sam, who took my glasses and worked on them while I waited outside. (For those reading this in the future, during the COVID-19 pandemic, this was the norm for most establishments.) After about 10 minutes, my glasses were ready. The arm was reattached and was no longer loose! They are like new. I tried to pay, but was told that it was on them. This might not be your experience, but I was very impressed with the service. I will definitely return if I ever need my glasses repaired.

However, after seeing an ophthalmologist I was told my corrected vision was deteriorating, I was developing Strabismus, and had a central scotoma. All of which wasn't detected by them. It was completely useless or detrimental for me to see them. I also mentioned I though I had a "scotoma" he erroneous corrected me and said "it's not called scotoma; it's called glaucoma" and referred me to the wrong experts. I really feel like I was completely let down by them. I feel even though assessing someone's vision may just be a job to them.
