At first I was hesitant bc of the price, but in comparison to the Empress Tearoom, it was a lot less expensive. It truly was worth every penny. The service was top notch, our seat was the best in the room (right by the window), the food was spectacular- fresh and delicious, and the two pots of tea were perfectly brewed. She had a herbal tea, and I had the Royal Abkhazi black tea. After our 80 ish minute tea experience, we walked the beautiful gardens. Wow! I can't say enough about this little gem. The tea itself is a different story as I'm a bit of a tea snob. There are no menus or choices for sandwiches or type of tea. I found the tea sandwiches to be dry and stale bread. Being a tea snob, I also prefer private seatings instead of 8 strangers at a table all reaching into the same tower of sandwiches for choices you didn't get to make. Non Europeans just don't understand the finer points of tea. This 'European seating' of strangers sharing a table works for western ideas of pubs, not for an afternoon tea. Five stars for the garden. 2 stars for the stale sandwiches and tepid unknown tea with no cozies or leaves strainers or spoons or choices...

The Roxy has also employed at least two employees for 10 years. Their popcorn is real, with real butter, and reasonably priced, and delicious. On Tuesdays, you can see a double feature for $2.50! It's a bit broke-down - some of the seats have seen better days, there's a stain/eggshell from some audience jackass that's been high on the wall for ages, and the bathrooms have a distinct camp-latrine smell, but if the Roxy changed much or got all fancy and expensive, I'd be heartbroken. It's a place to watch movies, for movie lovers, and it rules.

Each person only gets one tea selection the entire experience, but you get a large teapot. So, we were recommended to each get different flavors for our group to share. Of the finger foods for the tea, we loved the beef sandwich and the biscuits!

Between services. there were not enough cleaning, and the couch and the table were greasy and dirty. 2) I didn't enjoy the cocktails. Didn't like the gin & yuzu cocktail (too strong and lacked flavor) or the leechy cocktail (too sweet and heavily syrupy). It was a pity that I tried two out of five signature cocktails, and wasn't happy with any of them and they were pricey.
