Just Cut, No Talk, "Get 'Er Done" type place…read more
Contrary to the other reviews, my experience at Young & Beauty Spa wasn't a positive one. When a friend & I arrived for an appointment, the hairdresser that we asked for, as per the other reviews, was busy cutting someone else's hair. No biggie, we'll just sit and flip through mags.
After telling him what I wanted to do with my hair and asking him what type of look he thought would suit me, Tony was more or less unresponsive. I tried to talk to him, engage him in friendly banter and he wasn't having it. When he would respond, it would be a one word answer. I asked for bangs, he just said that longer ones would be better, so he never really cut the hair the way I wanted.
At one point, he was soo rushed, while combing my hair down, he clipped my ear quite a few times...and he wasn't gentle either.
Setting: Music was reminiscent of something that would be played at a Thai brothel! eg. George Michael's "Careless Whisper", Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly" = DEPRESSING! The damn loop played twice while I was there. Also all the "hairdressers" were wearing flip-flops and one even walked by, taking a bite out of a nectarine. So this'll give you an idea of what you're signing up for.
YES, the cut was like $20 and he looked precise with his cutting technique. However, I think I'd rather pay more to someone who was more interactive. My hair was never washed, so I guess you get what you pay for! Many customers walked in, no appt, and asked for Tony who, to me, just seemed overworked, and overall uninspired.
After he was done with my friend, she came to me, and asked if her hair was even on both sides...it wasn't! It was like 0.5" longer on one side. She went back to Tony, who was already on someone else, and told him about her hair, and he tried to convince her that it was even. She asked him to get a ruler to measure it 'cause it was totally off. He didn't really say anything, but begrudgingly cut the other side.
